Well, either than, or liberate hades, then, get him to crossroads, and just letting hades berade hypnos for slacking off on his job again. If that won't wake him up, he's beyond help.
Hypnos seems to be responding on the subconscious level, using phrases he's used a lot and are ingrained into his mind. From what I can see, they're all distortions of the things he'd say to Zagreus in Hades 1
Yeah and it's notable that he doesn't just mutter at random, the way Mel responds suggests that normally he doesn't say anything at all. On some level he is reacting to her. Whether or not there is in fact something he's trying to tell her, we'll just have to wait and see. Also his mental realm I think says something about him. For whatever Hypnos' flaws, he was probably more loyal to Hades than any other in the House (notably unlike basically every other named character in there, he never deliberately helps Zagreus defy Hades' will) and he did deeply look up to Thanatos. Those were two of the most important people in his life and they are who he clings to in this dream. A dream of when the House was working as intended.
I hope this is the route they go. Baiting players into assuming the gag is that he's going to have been babbling nonsense catchphrases and Mel is going to feel so shocked at the un-importance, THEN actually having it be genuine communication attempts.
@@JamesTobiasStewart I keep trying to see if there's a single coherent sentence to be deciphered from all of his sleep babble put together as one string of dialogue without Melinoe's interuptions. Provided that I'm not just going crazy, the best I could interpret it is as: "This is how you'll wake me up. This is a place where dreams become real."
I’m still hoping that the subplot doesn’t end up as just a gag. Its clear in Hades 1 that Hypnos cares very deeply about Thanatos and nyx, i dont think he’d sleep just because he can when they’re both in danger. If he’s still asleep in this dream i assume every time you give him another dream vapor in the future you’ll travel to a deeper level of his mind. We can see from the massive stacks of parchment that he feels overworked, maybe that’ll lead somewhere?
I definitely feel there may be some deeper connection with his dreams. On the note of dream vapors though, I get this feeling we’ll definitely be made to make more later down the line. Like, using progressively stronger and stronger ingredients, like Zodiac Sands from Chronos or even those Feathers from Prometheus, that way it becomes more potent and helps Hypnos “wake up” more in those dreams
@@dingo_dude In Greek mythology, Morpheus is one of Hypnos' sons. Imagine they just spring on us that during the time between Hades and Hades II Hypnos got married and had a kid. Not entirely impossible: In Hades, it's said that the mortals are currently in a war on the surface. In Greek mythology, during the Trojan War, Hypnos put Zeus to sleep for Hera, and in return, Hera let Hypnos marry Pasithea. So if the war they're referencing in Hades is the Trojan War, it's entirely possible that they could introduce Pasithea and/or Morpheus as characters.
Came back to this comment bc hear me out: What if Hypnos’ mind turns into a third campaign area alongside the other two? Underworld, Surface, and Dream Realm
I was thinking the same more likely he knows a secret pass in the place where Chronos put his throne (the office of Hades) Well maybe a secret Boss or whatever not a plot device since maybe the Fates are the true ending (all of this is just a theory)
Y'know, he says "Welcome to the how--" 'How' not 'Hou(se)' - and maybe the joke is on Melinoë, when it's us that knows he's saying "Welcome to the House of Hades," but what if he really means 'how' as in he's *doing something*. He does then say "dream come true"!
I agree with this. They can't kill Chronos, but they can put him to sleep. Hypnos once put the entire House of Hades asleep, so with a little help, he could probably keep Chronos asleep for a really long time. Defeating Chronos in this way would also work well with the game, since anytime Melinoë goes to fight Chronos again, she could be doing so to weaken him, helping Hypnos keep him asleep.
seems like has stuck in the dream. maybe Morpheus has something to do with it? though morph is his son in the canon so I don't know if he has been born yet as we have or may never meet the mother Pasithea.
@@soedragons3582 Not necessarily! Just because the Iliad already happened doesn't mean Hera has rewarded Hypnos for putting Zeus to sleep yet. I love the cardboard cutout drawings of Thanatos and Hades, presumably in Hypnos' style. Adds a fitting Psychonauts sort of energy to this scene.
BADED PSYCHONAUTS REFERENCE
PSYCHONAUTS REFERENCE FROTHS AT THE MOUTH
especially if you remember thanatos yelling at hypnos for doodling too much instead of taking actual notes
YES PSYCHONAUTS !!!
There is also a Red Shade, Either a Reference to the one in the Fighting Arena or Zagreus
