2:50.. got that right.. im rebuilding one because of user error.. these engines used mixed gas only. Air filter that came out of company saw was ridiculous and suprising that the saw still runs flawlessly

Yeah I got a question. I seem to see a lot of these 420 tearing up the Pistons is a pin locator coming out of the Piston that holds the ring from spinning . Then getting caught in the port and breaking the ring I believe that's what we're looking at here

in part 2 i am gona go over failure causes and talk about mixing oils and carbon build up.....i honestly think a flake of carbon dislodged from the top of the cylinder or exhaust port and got lodged between the piston and one of the ports...but the main cause was dirt injestion

Hi mowermedic1, if it's noticed that compression is weakening would it probably be due to worn rings and would it be good practice to renew at this point and avert total engine failure

Do you think the piston just broke on its own or was there too much carbon in the exhaust port that took out the piston ring ?

IF YOU ARE REBUILDING THE ENGINE THEN YOU WOULD RELACE THE BEARINGS, ELIMINATING THE NEED TO GUESS HOW MUCH PLAY IS TOO MUCH PLAY.....THEY ARE EASY TO REPLACE...JUST POP THE KEEPER OUT OF THE PISTON AND SLIDE OUT THE WRIST PIN AND INSTALL THE NEW BEARING

hey jeremy great videos. i am attempting to rebuild my TS420. I have about a 1/4" horizontal play with my connecting rod, is that normal, or okay to put a new piston and cylinder on? another video that i watched said that there should be no movement on the crankshaft rod, and if there is then that can cause the piston to rub more on one side of the cylinder causing it to burn out faster. i dont want to replace crankshaft obviously. i tried and having a hard time getting that out. suggestions??

?? I have a TS420 also but it’s one without the DECO Valve. I would like to do a top rebuild as well can I switch the housing to a one with the DECO valve and change the shroud to fit?

Laughed my arse off when you turned that machine up side down & spilt fuel everywhere.
I do the same damn thing!
I hate these machines - sorry sthil fans these saws are garbage.
Find an old TS400 and keep it well maintained.
