Ironically that high notes makes her famous. But imo her voice isnt suitable for belting high notes but then again she was just 17 and was experimenting with her vocal ability. I think IU really shines during Modern Times era, as well as Chat-shire (this album really screams IU). And i am so excited on her upcoming album. Even her pre-release singles are good cant wait for the whole thing!
Some Artists have openly talked about how they delayed their releases by a few weeks because the original dates would have been in the middle of IU's slayage season... expectations are high.

If you want vocals, please do react to Park Hyoshin. He's considered to be one of the best solo acts in Korea and though he isn't popular internationally, he is definitely a favorite with koreans. Fans actually gave him the nickname 'god hyoshin'. His voice isn't only the bragging point with him. He sisngs with so much emotion you won't need much. Just his voice and a very simple music video. This isn't really a popular choice when it comes to reactions but please do give him a chance. I really think he'll suit your tastes.

Ah, it's nice to hear your honest opinions about IU's three high notes. That was seven years ago and she has improved. On the side note, it was not really how high the notes were that made her famous but her ability to hold those notes, especially with all the choreography and the song getting higher and higher. IU once shared that those two highest notes were not originally there but when she did the recording, she wondered how high she could go and belted them out. The arranger/composer recorded those without her knowing then they just got along with it.

Modulation is the movement between keys, for example, if a song is in C and then in the middle of it goes to Dm. This keys have chords in common, so it doesn't sound weird. So when IU is singing and the songs goes higher, is a modulation. If she didn't come back to the original key, it would be a transposition.
Fun Fact: the hilarious "music guy" is actually a well-known composer and pianist Jung jae hyung. IU wanted him to write a song for her so much but he only took part in the mv. He did give her a song on her 2nd album. :)

iu is one of top vocalist in korean along with taeyon, ailee, hyorin, and many more solo artist..but the difference iu from other vocalist is she can play guitar and make her own song plus this is the first song from iu thats make me into her 😊
IU isn't really below those other singers, she just has a different tone, she has a higher range and has a very strong delicate voice, she is very skilled but some people overlook that because of her quirky concepts
vocal experts have been analyzing their vocals and IU is not as good as the other 3..that's why I said that with conviction..it's not just my opinion..
Actually, when it comes to vibrato many singers are taught how to control that at a young age. My vocal teacher made me learn how to keep a straight tone when I hit high notes at a very young age. Although it does happen naturally a singer is stronger if they can prevent it. Also with the whole "her voice isn't as present" once again they have a point, but when I hear comments like that I'll always remember one of my favorite vocal and trombone instructor (the man does everything that has to do with music XD) told me; "Although we we force technique and tone into your head from day one, always remember that music is about emotion. It's always more enjoyable when I can feel your whole heart in it." He told me this after my voice went slightly flat in a very emotional performance. Although I find their critique interesting, I also feel like they didn't just try to enjoy it as much as the other music students were. Believe me, I've been studying vocal music for over 11 years now but I found music more enjoyable when I didn't let myself critique everything a pop singer was doing.

I really love this channel, they judge the music for what it is, most channels these days don't really criticise the music or give their honest opinion (IDK if they are scared to loose subscribers or something) they just watch it and you can tell they don't like it but they pretend to like it. I like that this channel disagrees in a way that doesn't insult the music but actually gives constructive criticism. Probably my fav reaction channel now, especially the blonde guy and girl that judged the high note, they're my fav.

Can you please explain what "modulation" is? All of you seemed so ...shocked by it.

Modulation is the movement between keys, for example, if a song is in C and then in the middle of it goes to Dm. This keys have chords in common, so it doesn't sound weird. So when IU is singing and the songs goes higher, is a modulation. If she didn't come back to the original key, it would be a transposition.
Fun Fact: the hilarious "music guy" is actually a well-known composer and pianist Jung jae hyung. IU wanted him to write a song for her so much but he only took part in the mv. He did give her a song on her 2nd album. :)

I do admit, I like IU's songs that are not quite so high. Fun little fact, the composer and lyricist have tiny cameos in this music video. And the music man that keeps popping up in this MV is a composer and music director (not on this album though), fairly well known particularly because of his appearance on Infinite Challenge.
For solo artist, I suggest Lim Kim, and Park Hyo Shin.

Actually, when it comes to vibrato many singers are taught how to control that at a young age. My vocal teacher made me learn how to keep a straight tone when I hit high notes at a very young age. Although it does happen naturally a singer is stronger if they can prevent it. Also with the whole "her voice isn't as present" once again they have a point, but when I hear comments like that I'll always remember one of my favorite vocal and trombone instructor (the man does everything that has to do with music XD) told me; "Although we we force technique and tone into your head from day one, always remember that music is about emotion. It's always more enjoyable when I can feel your whole heart in it." He told me this after my voice went slightly flat in a very emotional performance. Although I find their critique interesting, I also feel like they didn't just try to enjoy it as much as the other music students were. Believe me, I've been studying vocal music for over 11 years now but I found music more enjoyable when I didn't let myself critique everything a pop singer was doing.

I really love this channel, they judge the music for what it is, most channels these days don't really criticise the music or give their honest opinion (IDK if they are scared to loose subscribers or something) they just watch it and you can tell they don't like it but they pretend to like it. I like that this channel disagrees in a way that doesn't insult the music but actually gives constructive criticism. Probably my fav reaction channel now, especially the blonde guy and girl that judged the high note, they're my fav.
