I don't see why NATO cannot fly it's aircraft into Ukraine's western skies if Ukraine allows it to. Just don't engage with the Russians unless Russians shoots at NATO aircraft, in which case NATO has to execise self-defence and strike back. Show of force over Ukraine skies is harmless if invited by the Ukraine (Ukraine is sovereign) but missiles from Russia says the Rus are asking for trouble.
The main reason is probably that NATO IFF is incompatible with Ukrainian systems. Without IFF, Ukraine would have no way to differentiate between NATO and Russian aircraft and would end up firing SAMs at the NATO planes. The reverse is also true - There is a high probability that NATO would accidentally attack Ukrainians since their kit looks just like the Russian kit.

as a Romanian, I can tell you we are very smart and we prepared in advance for the takeover. Actually our president is a tall puppet, our prime minister is a fat puppet, so our puppet regime is already in place so that they don't have to lose resources like they tried with Zelenskyy. Don't forget the Army Ministry who declared, in the first day of the war, that we have to learn to live with RU as neighbor, which made wonders for our population morale. Everybody applied for Passports so that they can leave the country. Then, we cancelled our political system by bringing the left and right in the same government, that are working hard so that they can collapse the economy asap by only offering subsidies and not making any reforms. All of this before the first shot was fired upon us.
Help me start a petition to stop the cuts to our armed forces and grow our number of planes, ships, and tanks. We currently have less than 150 jets. During the 90s we operated over 800. This just shows our state of decline in the world. In the 90s we also operated over 50 warships. We currently only have 18 in total with only around 12 of these available since the rest are In extensive refits. Fire the politicians that let it get this bad.
What cuts? Go have a read of the last Defence Budget. This Government gave the MoD its biggest uplift in years. While I agree we need more of everything there is only so much taxpayer's money to go round especially after 2 years of COVID where millions of jobs, thousands of businesses and whole industries were subsidised to keep our economy in a good place. And its a bit late to 'Fire the politicians that let it get this bad' as we, the electorate, did that in 2010.
@@1chish I think you will find that our army has been cut including tank and IFV numbers. U will also find that we are retiring around 50 typhoons that have 80 % of life left in there air frames. Even the USA only spends 3%. Get real and stop playing the clever word games Zak: * The Army never reached its target numbers and the target has been reduced to meet that reality so here have been no cuts in real numbers. At a time of full unemployment it is always difficult to recruit although the Navy are well ahead on their target numbers. * Tank numbers have not been reduced but 148 have been earmarked for upgrade to Challenger III status. The rest remain in storage. * Those Typhoons to be retired in 2025 are 'Tranche 1' built aircraft and can not be modified as Tranches 2 and 3 can be as Project Centurion is extended. They most certainly do not have 80% airframe life left. In fact it was quoted as 42% life left back in 2019 as they have been very heavily utilised since 2003. They have different airframes and computer systems and its not economically viable to re-engineer them as Tranche 2 and 3 can be. Its cheaper to buy new Tranche 4 aircraft. It is also not 50 Typhoons so stop the exaggerations. The UK only received 52 Tranche 1 Typhoons (35 single-seaters and 17 two-seaters): 4 were instrumented production aircraft (IPA) that were permanently assigned to test duties. 16 two-seaters were stripped for spares and scrapped. 1 single-seater was written off in a landing accident at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake in 2008. 1 was relegated to ground instructional duties. That leaves just 30 in service. * AWACS aircraft are seriously beyond viable life. It would cost a fortune to upgrade them and they would still be 40 year old aircraft. And we only had 3 when retired. We are of course buying a replacement aircraft due in 2023. * You also forgot to mention the new fleet of 9 P-8A Poseiden Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft now operating from Lossiemouth. They have surveillance capability. So no in financial terms there has not been a cut and for you to use 'inflation' as an argument is pretty weak. 'Inflation' in the MoD is not the same as the RPI consumers see. In fact the MoD 'inflation' has reduced. Anyway always good to have a healthy discussion. Take care.

But in the beginning it was Britain that took up the fight against the Third Reich, although they didn't have to. Hitler had no interest in the British Empire. Europe pays about a billion to Russia per day (for oil and gas). That would be enought for 300 new Russian tanks. The Ukrainians cannot destroy 300 tanks per day. Nobody can. So whose side Europe is on: the Russian or the Ukrainian?
Easy to say, hard to do. When over 50% of your gas and oil comes from Russia. Imagine your Gas (Petrol) prices going up 4 times higher than they are today? That's if you can get ANY at the pump, to fill up!
true.. and it should stop.. . but they cannot spend it all on tanks.. they have other massive expenses as well.
Can Europe get some solar or other renewables ? Wind? Can each area have a local council work on disconnecting from Russian gas system?

SLAVA UKRAINI
Hello from Ukraine
Hopefully, this is not another CHILDISH move by NATO.
Trouble is Russia would take it as deliberate provocation and may decide retaliation. I think you forget they are also a nuclear nation.
I hope that you're doing training with the Royal Airforce of Holland.
Raise your glass boys, raise your glass! To those who guard the borders we salute you!

as a Romanian, I can tell you we are very smart and we prepared in advance for the takeover.

@@1chish then jail them
@@1chish I think you will find that our army has been cut including tank and IFV numbers. U will also find that we are retiring around 50 typhoons that have 80 % of life left in there air frames. Airborne early warning and control aircraft cut and Raytheon surveillance aircraft. So yes we have been cut. The rise in our budget is basically just the cost of inflation. We should be spending 5% gdp on our military atleast.
@@1chish I think you will find we are getting less for more money! Where is the money going? 🤔 It's not be in beingg spent on infrastructure and troop welfare, All three services are struggling to retain troops on top of the cuts to troop numbers, pensions and other benefits have been robbed, Since 2003 the mod have been relying on the reserve forces to keep the regs going it's shocking!
@@zakvince7425 5% of GDP? really? So what would you cut to do that? Raid the NHS? Cut education funding maybe? Or maybe just borrow billions more on top of what COVID costs us? No thanks. Even the USA only spends 3%.
Get real and stop playing the clever word games Zak:
* The Army never reached its target numbers and the target has been reduced to meet that reality so here have been no cuts in real numbers.
The UK only received 52 Tranche 1 Typhoons (35 single-seaters and 17 two-seaters):
4 were instrumented production aircraft (IPA) that were permanently assigned to test duties.
Take care.
