- These two have been on a long journey together. Yana Zelieva, 17, fled Ukraine with her mom and refused to leave behind her cat, Zaika. Yana, from Kyiv, says when she got the call from her mother that it was time to leave, Zaika was the first thing she packed. Provisions were further down her list of priorities as they headed to another city, but the attacks would follow them and they made their way to the Polish border. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.

Sorry to be a buzz kill but the poor cat wasn't hugging her, he was just scared because the journalists were approaching their big camera a little too close and he was so stressed because there were a lot of people around.
But still, it's good that she left with her cat, there were so many animals that remained there and many other dead.

Pets have become supporting element of Ukrainian, glad they didnt just abandon their pet like Chernobyl and even glad they both made it to safety

I'm glad they didn't abandon their animals. I'm so happy the animals were taken with them. I'd have done the same thing. I would have carried my pooch with me. Held him close.

I can completely understand. When my dog was still alive. My dog was the second most important thing after my wife. She was with me for 18 years. I watched her take her last breath in my arms.
Same thing w my cat. Had him 18yrs too. God bless you and your family.Your story made me cry and my "boy" has been gone 26yrs. Rescued him from a life of abuse.He never completely got over it--same as humans. I told him no one would ever hurt him again. I tried to make up for all the things done to him by subhumans. People who don't have pets just don't get it. They're like children who need our love & care. He'll always be in my heart. We all will reunite w them after we pass on the Rainbow Bridge.

When I was a boy in Germany when I had to learn english since I moved to the states no proper word for kittens so kinder katze means cat children lol.

She literally behaves like a humanbaby and she's a Norwegian forest cat so she's the size of a small dog and her personality is oddly human like we bought her from a Ukranian chesch family.
