More than 3.1 million people have fled Ukraine since the Russian invasion began on February 24, 2022. Thousands of Ukrainian refugees have been arriving at the Polish border each day with only what they can carry. For many, that includes a beloved dog, cat, hamster or bird - pets that offer at least some connection to the homes they left behind.

No one will be able to part from their pets in time like this. It's beautiful that they are so much responsible towards their pets.
My heart breaks for the poor innocent animals - of course they'll be stressed. Blessings on all these people who rescue and help them 🙏🙏

I was impressed from the very beginning about how much they value their pets. My dog is like my baby and I could never leave her behind. ❤️
I'd never leave my dog behind. We are their whole world. Never leave your family behind. I have so much respect for the heros helping these poor creatures.
Pets are a great company. Stress busters. When I am stressed out, the very presence of my cat melts my heart and I forget myself and become happy.
It is so sweet of them to take their pets with them. Pets are family! I feel so bad for everyone...

I am so sad for all the animals and people. They shouldn't be going through this at all :(. I could never leave my pets behind either so I understand their feelings.

I wouldn't leave my pet too, left behind adult cat should be release so can survive of his own, i know becouse my cat is but i'll be miss them and they will also miss me so i just took them wherever i go, probably eXcept document then only my pet i am carry.

Got to love how women can leave a husband or a father behind and then say a pet is the reason of their life. As if anyone needed an example of how disposable men are when the going gets hard.
I am sure the husband or father want them to in a safe area. It’s not about leaving them behind. Especially the ones with children.

Not a small connection, a big connection with home and security, and judging by the hands nervously petting pet's heads, a large measure of consolation and rememberance, perhaps just enough to keep emotionally n mentally afloat in a destroyed landscape or in a generous but foreign land.

I love animals but they should let the Africans leave before they let pets no human comes after an animal especially in a dangerous war zone out in the elements smh
