Thank you for this video Dr.Mike. Living in Europe the situation is pretty tense even in the countries that are not directly involved. We are receiving many refugees from Ukraine here and what they have seen goes beyond my wildest nightmares. I'm praying every day for this situation to deescalate but news don't seem really positive here.
Depends on where in Europe. I live in Denmark, and we have received many refugees too, but the general public is not affected by the war here. (At least most people aren't).
@@bungeegum9286 not yet. And let's hope not ever. But sadly we can't be complacent. I'm in England, but none of us are that far away from another war on our doorsteps.
Thanks dr. Mike, for speaking so honestly about what's going on in Russia and the Ukraine. My grandparents on both sides came to this country USA for Religious freedom.
Went from fleeing Russia to becoming one of the most honorable and high paying positions one can achieve. I don't wanna meet the person who wouldn't be proud of their kid for that
You are a great force on RUclips! I love all your videos! Thanks for sharing about this issue. I wish you, and all your loved ones the best! I will keep watching and supporting!
I am a Ukrainian village family doctor, Vadym Vus. Four of my daughters are your fans. They had to be evacuated before the threat of Russian occupation. My wife, nurse and I continue to work in the village. Thank you very much for your position. I wish you God's blessings and professional achievements.
God job! I am a school teacher in a town in the mountains of Norway and we just recieved 70 Ukrainian children sent away by their parents like you did. It is the right choice, both to send them to safety and to stay and help the people. Hopefully when all this ends, everyone will be reunited again, or at least most. We cannot deny many families will likely permanently miss several members from all this going on. Just awful, really wish there was some way we could help you without causing a nuclear war, but at least we can keep sending money and weapons to be wielded by brave Ukrainians in defence of their land. Still, your job is just as important as that of the soldiers, peoples lives’ depend on you now even more than ever before. Stay safe, doctor.
I study medicine in Ukraine. We got evacuated just few weeks ago. It has been a month already, and the kind of crisis Ukrainians are facing can't be explained. Thank you dr.mike for raising such charity funds.. this shall be a great help for Ukraine.
I wish you well and hopefully that someday or at any day your studies on medicine can be fruitful so that you can or able to help others who need some medical attention even if not much. I hope you have a good luck and survive this horrible ordeals^^.

Seeing the man look in bins for food and asking why he was born brings tears to my eyes and so much pain to my heart. I know that footage is not current, but I’ve donated and volunteered many times in my life but it never feels like it’s enough. When I see this kind of suffering which I know is happening now, I somehow feel personally responsible for failing this person. I feel terrible that humanity has failed this one human being. Thank you Dr. Mike for sharing your thoughts and for sharing the charity you found.
A lot of people don't realise, whilst Ukraine is in war, neighbouring counties are at high risks to get involved, for example Poland, who is helping Ukrainian people, making Poland in high risk of getting involved in the near future.
Unfortunately, alliances can turn out to exacerbate the breadth of a conflict. Both WW1 and, to a lesser extent, WW2 were made worse due to the complex alliance structure that was set up. I just hope that this doesn't turn into a WW3, especially since Russia is a large nuclear power. Best wishes to all the innocent people in this needless conflict.
We just hope, that Putin wont invade Poland, because he would start a war against whole NATO. And seeing how Russian army is unable to make any advance in Ukraine I hope we're quite safe.
This is the second time that a video of yours has brought me to legitimate tears. I felt so much emotion from these 5 minutes of you pouring your heart out. My family are also USSR immigrants, also partly Ukrainian (my grandma) and their choice to come here was the biggest leap they had ever made, and the most dangerous. They took the scenic route (as my mum puts it) to come to Australia. So this situation, and your video, hit extremely close to home for me. Thank you for talking about this. 💛💙
I know I’m crying too. Glad your family isn’t there anymore. My heart breaks for these ppl and the immense respect I have for the Russians standing up against this is immeasurable.
I’m Polish we’re trying everything we can to help Ukrainian friends. What you’ve discussed in this video reminds me of what my parents told me about communism times in Poland (before I was born). This war should never happen. It’s killing me to see Ukrainian people who lost everything. All because of one mad man. We stand with you Ukraine
I'm also Polish and I couldn't agree more with your comment. It also reminds me a lot of PRL (communism). It's horrible what is happening, but we're doing everything we can to help.
It's so heartbreaking.. Thank you for this video!! I was born in Kyiv and moved to the States with my mom when I was 12. I also have family back in Ukraine and I just want this war to end 🥺
I just saw this video. My family is 100% Ukrainian. I did not live in Ukraine ever in my life, (because my family left before I was born) but now, hearing the news, it’s devastating. I can’t believe what it would be like to live in constant fear of your house being bombed. People don’t know how good they have it in America, while the other countries can be at war, terrible conditions and bad education, a food crisis, and so much more.
Hey Dr.Mike, thanks a lot of this video. As a half-Russian and part-Ukrainian myself, I’ve been feeling stuck recently, and have seen both sides of this war. How the Ukrainian citizens are suffering and how the Russian citizens are suffering. It’s so refreshing to see someone who is actually with this background to have a serious talk about this issue. It seems that we can not fix this issue and can only hope for the best. However, I believe, like many others, we CAN stand up against this issue. Donating to the various funds, protesting, raising awareness, educating ourselves, there are so many ways. Everyday people CAN solve this, but only if we all unite and take action. We got this.
@Sm1LeZ Did you fully understand the video? There are many parts where Dr. Mike talks about the people living in Russia. No, my comment is not a joke, nor this video. There ARE Russian CITIZENS suffering. When I say Russians suffering, I am not talking about the Russian government. Russian citizens are very much different from the Russian government and many of those citizens oppose the war. The Russian citizens who are very brave and protest against this war face harassment by the police and federal government, just because of they choose to use their freedom of speech. Also, there are parts of the video where it shows the conditions that Russian civilians have to live under this terrible government. For example, at the start when Dr. Mike shows his own childhood and background with Russia under the influence of their corrupt government. Please don’t disregard Russians who are in terrible situations and are suffering, just because they are Russian. Russian civilians are different from the Russian government. If you still don’t understand, I can go more in depth.
@@mayau-t1308 Just like they opposed of two (2!) Chechnya invasions or Georgia or Dagestan or Moldova? Or maybe just like they opposed annexation of Crimea? Or creating proxy-states on eastern Ukraine? They've tolerated this government for 30 years. Their suffering is their choice. They can't oppose 10000 people vs 100 police. They are slaves and should live accordingly. Russian civilians are not different from the Russian government. They are the government. Like in any country
Doctor Mike, you have no idea HOW IMPORTANT this video is. As a Ukrainian doctor who has seen so much suffering and who`s witnessed countless missile strikes, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Ukraine should have learnt from Iran-Pakistan rivalry Pakistan became an enemy to Iran after Shah was overthrown due to the free money they were getting from US Today US no longer supports Pakistan and Iran is effectively pro-India Never fight your neighbour fore a foreign power, they will back out but you will be stuck in a hostile neighbourhood I'm sayin this as someone who hates Russia for betraying Armenia
I was deployed with a Ukrainian immigrant back in 2013 and he was telling me how close the Russian Ukrainian and Belarusian ties are and how he had family living in Ukraine and Russia (more so Russia and in Kursk and Tula specifically) and I reached out to him when the invasion started and he just got back to me 4 or 5 days ago saying he has lost his grandmother who was killed in a bombing of a hospital and he has lost a cousin who was confirmed killed fighting in the war. Knowing brusov and how strong he was mentally back then and knowing now he’s breaking mentally is disheartening and gut wrenching knowing he immigrated to a country for shelter and is fighting for the US while he hopes and prays his family makes it out alive.
I knew a former Russian citizen in my cav unit. He had gone back to russia to take care of his mother. We deployed together and are good friends I always worry now

The other day, my father went in to get our car checked out. When asked what nationality his last name was, he replied "Ukrainian." They had said the car probably wouldn't be checked out until days later, but it ended up being looked at and fixed the day of. I think stories like this, of people who can't help Ukrainians, but are still trying to make the lives of people whose families have died there are really cool, and it made a big impact on my family
I doubt they did that just because of the last name.. :/ lol could have just been coincidence because it happens to me when they say the car is gonna last a whole day and it gets checked out earlier you know that right? Lol
I’m living in the UK now because Im studying here but I’m Polish and my whole family is in Poland right now. And I’m terrified. Everyday I wonder what can possibly happen next. That man in Moscow asking why he was born broke my heart. I always hate seeing anyone in situations where they have nothing and hate life and question why they are there. Nobody should have to go through that, nobody should have to ask why they were born. We all have a purpose.
It was in 1993,hard times in Russia. It was really scary because state as a whole was not functioning right (like it was increase of criminal activity and you couldn't do business with safety for it and etc.). The market economy was just gaining momentum (its laws were introduced very abruptly) and many people simply could not get the money they deserved for their profession, and instead of their work, they began to trade in some kind of goods.
It's not exclusive to Russia. 50,000 people die each year in America because they can't get access to healthcare. Oligarchies need to be torn down in every country.
I was born in Moscow and adopted at the age of 2. In the last month I’ve had a couple of classmates in college yell at me and call me a communist. This really is a tragic time, and I’m so so glad Mike made a video on it. I was wondering if he was going to. Thank you Dr. Mike!
It’s sad that a lot of people still can’t separate the government from the people. You’d think people would understand that after the whole COVID situation but apparently not. I guess there’s a reason the concept of discrimination exists in the first place.
@@dropmelon It's weird considering that so much of the coverage has been so specific about Putin being the driving force, rather than Russia. Then again, if people think Russia is still communist, they haven't been paying much attention.

God bless those who suffered the hardships of the war, And you too Doctor Mike. We'll get through this. You have my highest respect and i love your videos.
I'm a Bulgarian. Living so close to Ukraine is very tense. We're doing everything to help people. We've been having a lot of Ukrainians come here as refugees and I've met people going to the same grocery store as me. You can definitely feel the worry and stress in them. Innocent people are being traumatized at the very least. Kids especially. We have failed as human beings. The stress and shock put onto the children will be irreversible. My heart goes out to all kids that have to endure this and I can't believe how strong and brave they are right now. I don't agree at all with war regardless of what the reason is. I've done my research. The reasons are many but my comment will be either too long or deleted. There are many Russians losing lives too because they've been ordered to fight. I highly doubt they even want to fight and kill people. There are families. Russian people marrying Ukrainians. I have Ukrainian friends and Russian friends. A Russian doctor got my father the ability to walk after being bed bound for years and didn't ask for anything in return. There are many thoughts in my head rn. But the biggest one is that innocent people should not fight because of the governments being in a conflict. It's 2022 and people should have learnt to diplomatically solve their problems.
A lot of Russians and Bulgarians I know don't stand for the war, one of my Ukranian acquaintances just landed in Romania to help the Ukranian refugees, and a few of my Russians friends are raising funds to donate to the Ukranian military. It's heartbreaking to see not only the Ukranians suffering, the fallen soldiers trying to defend their country, but also to most of the Russian citizens where they were probably forced into the war. I don't blame the Russian citizens, I blame the government. Hang on Ukraine 🇺🇦💙💛, Australia is with you
Thank you for welcoming them. I know that it is hard. And taking in refugees especially against such a high world power is scary bt the world is grateful
It's a very difficult & confusing time. But at the end of the day we should not be blaming ordinary citizens. This is the fault of the Russian government & he who is not worth even me writing his garbage name out. When the rich start wars, it's the poor who suffer. Thank you for your kindness & compassion towards Ukrainian refugees, & the conscripts being forced into this war by a mad man. I agree with you 100%, in 2022 war should not exist. Especially one of this unjust magnitude.
Thanks for your support, Dr. Mike. Before the war, I was an ordinary medical student from Mariupol, a peaceful and bright Ukrainian city of about 500,000 people. During the conflict, more than 90% of the city was destroyed, thousands died. Those who survived lived in dungeons with a lack of food and water, without communication, light and heating in a terrible cold, when bombs, mines and rockets exploded nearby. Among them are many women (including pregnant women), children and the elderly. We escaped from this hell, where (many) dead bodies are just lying on the streets, and people are burying their loved ones in the yards. I hope other people can leave too. We don't know where our home is now or even who we are now, but we hope that someday we will be able to study, work and live in a better world without war. NO WAR!
85% of the damage in Mariupol was done by the Ukrainian army and radical nationalsocialist forces like Azov. They shoot citizens, they don't care at all. They treat people like cattle. It is about time for cleaning up this US-funded extremism there in Ukraine.
I'm 15 now kurdish girl from Syria. My family and I immigrated to ireland as refugees because of war. Even though I was really young I still remember some things. It is truly sad and traumatizing. All my prayers to the people of Ukraine and every country in war may the souls of the deceased soldiers and civilians rest in peace.
I couldn't imagine the scenario of running into let's say your father, who's on the enemy team and you are forced to kill each other. Most likely that father would give up their life for you but that would just be heartbreaking. They are killing their own brothers and sisters, this is cruel
@@teemo7714 When this scenario comes into play 9 times out of 10 one of them will be dead before they ever realize who it was, so it's not like they got an order to specifically kill their family member, but an order to attack the area where said family member happens to have been, only realizing what happened when confirming kills etc.

I'm from Russia. I grew up in the 90s in a small town. There was no work there after the two city-forming factories were privatized and sold for next to nothing. And my parents really made a lot of efforts to ensure that I grew up in normal conditions. My family and I have never supported Putin. We never believed him. I went to protests several times before the war. When the war with Ukraine began, it was like a blow to the gut. Some of my friends turned gray in a few days. Some left, hiding from mobilization. My social network page was blocked by the Prosecutor General's Office in June 2022 for my anti-war position. Sometimes I have a strong desire to protest again, but I understand that most likely I will end up in prison after this. Thank you for not showing hatred towards Russians.

@@alpenspass Thank you. In fact, right now I am in the process of obtaining a US fiancee visa. My fiance and I met online a month before the start of the war. Last June we met in Greece. We decided to meet there because it would be dangerous for my fiance to come to Russia because he served in Iraq. Now our documents have been sent to Warsaw (so far we have not received a response from there). I will need to go through a visa interview there. And the thing is that now Poland does not issue visas to Russians. That is, I will have to get a tourist Schengen of another country to get to Poland for this interview. And my trip to Poland will look something like this: My city - Moscow- Turkey- Greece-Poland. It's funny because my region borders Poland, and I used to be able to get to Poland by bus. I have written to the Consul of Poland asking him to inform me how I can get to Poland legally to pass my interview without violating any laws and regulations. But he simply answered that it was impossible to obtain a Polish visa. I have so many fears... I am afraid that I will not be allowed into the Schengen area, I am afraid that the fiance's petition will expire, I am afraid of... A lot of things. I'm not going to return to Russia in the coming years. If I return, I may be recognized as a foreign agent for my "connections with a foreign citizen from an unfriendly country." Again, in spirit, the *idea* of at least trying is good, so I would never blame someone if they did them incorrectly and didn't turn out well. We should learn to do them correctly.

Russia is bombing children’s hospitals and maternity clinics. They’re bombing schools. When I picture evil in my head, I picture Putin. I picture his dictatorship. This is a tragic situation and a horrible war that we can only hope ends soon. At the very least, the Russian army has proven themselves to be incompetent. If they were good at what they do, this would’ve been so much worse. All in all, it’s still horrible, and my heart goes out to those suffering in Ukraine; those losing their families and those losing their lives.
@@immortalsun Has the Russian army proved itself incapacitated? You don't know what's going on at the front, because you're out there somewhere, far away. Do you know the motives of the Russian army? Protection of civilians of Donbass, who were bombed by Ukrainians for eight long years. You are fools who believe your propaganda, believing in the sanctity of your actions and the actions of the Ukrainian people. Do you know what Ukrainian soldiers do with Russian prisoners? Recently, one of our people was crucified on the cross and burned, others are covered with the backs of civilians. And are you ready to protect these bastards? You will say, "well, Russia is bombing civilian objects," but is it okay that soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are sitting in these objects? No? Have you ever thought about it? A Russian soldier will never kill a child or an ordinary person, an old man, a woman and others. And you are just hypocrites who say something on the Internet without knowing the truth. Russophobes.

My best friend is russian and lives in russia. From time to time he tells me some of the news he is getting about the war. I see differents between what he tells me and what I know from the news in my country but I try to avoid most of the news so I can't even tell him what exactly is different :/ On top I don't speak russian, he doesn't speak german and we both have just little englisch knowledge (prbably my fault, I have starten to learn russian four years ago and I am really bad at continuing things)
Dr. Mike, I cannot even begin to fathom how difficult it must have been to make this video. To see someone who fled the country of his birth yet still feel a tie to it, then subsequently watch it destroy both itself and its citizens and neighbors in an unexplainable, unfathomable war -- I cannot begin to comprehend the immense sadness and dismay you are feeling. You have my support as a fellow human being, and I join you in praying for a swift resolution to this war that minimizes further suffering for all involved. I also pray for peace of mind for you and your entire family.
Hmm I don’t feel anything sadly because I see so many homeless everyday in Los Angeles giving small businesses problems pooping on the streets. And breaking in and giving hard working Americans problems.. but in Russia and in Eastern Europe you rarely see homeless.. I mean I don’t know what people are talking about when they talk about how bad it is.. they have free medical care and a better quality of life than the typical American. I always was fooled to believe we had it good in America. Complete propaganda
@Rob Lynn hmm I lived in different parts of the world for 2-3 years at a time. I pray God’s protection over the innocent people who are paying in blood, among other costs, for this most unnecessary war.
@Mar Kazain then what would they fight on? On empty soil? That's how real men used to fight, without innocent life being taken. You think that would benefit the elite zionists? In war, the only ones that will suffer are the innocent.
It's really great that you made this video. I immigrated from Ukraine in 2014 because of the war and have visited every year. I've seen vids of russian soldiers surrendering in ukraine after being offered refuge. There was one vid ive seen where Ukrainians called the soldier's parents just to tell them that they are ok. Even now Ukrainians are forgiving the Russian soldiers because they know they don't want to fight. Also the president of Ukraine is a badass and deserves more praise. He stayed in Ukraine knowing he could die just so he can fight for everyone. No other president will every compare to him.

We got this.
no bitches??
russians suffering? is this a joke?
@Sm1LeZ
Did you fully understand the video?

Спасибо.

NO WAR!

The city was destroyed by ukranian Nazi forces who used civilians as a human shield therefore destroying the city and breaking laws of the war!

This situation is.. heartbreaking. There were children, that could be tomorrow's pioneers, but died today. There's just so much wrong in this conflict, I can't comprehend it. Love from India.
It's not a conflict ,it's a war

When I picture evil in my head, I picture Putin. I picture his dictatorship. This is a tragic situation and a horrible war that we can only hope ends soon. At the very least, the Russian army has proven themselves to be incompetent. If they were good at what they do, this would’ve been so much worse. All in all, it’s still horrible, and my heart goes out to those suffering in Ukraine; those losing their families and those losing their lives.
