Dave, we used to live in "Livingston", Texas and moved to Trinidad, Colorado (southern-most town in Colorado) last December, can not get enough of this beautiful state, welcome to it, hope you did well in the Pikes Peak Race !!
Good luck Dave. I lived in Aurora, Co for 18 years while serving in the Air Force. My condo faced the Rocky Mountains. I got some great pictures of sunsets right from by balcony and still use them as a screensaver.
Dave back in a Jeep! Also can’t believe you’d run for an hour and a half on a treadmill at those steep inclines. I’m exhausted just thinking about it lol
lol, as soon as I saw Pikes Peak in person I felt I didn't train enough.. The Jeep is great. Funny thing about it, my Jeep was a stick and this one is an auto however my muscle memory has me pressing the clutch that isn't there to start it.
Someday you should climb the Manitou Incline! It looks tough, but people of all ages and backgrounds climb it; there are plenty of side platforms to step aside and catch your breath. I think you can finish it in under an hour. The views at the top are amazing!
Back in ‘96, a friend and I made our 3rd road trip out west (from Michigan) - 2 (or was it 3?) weeks to roam the countryside. We made it as far west as Needles, CA. It was a wonderful, scenic trip, although we had to pack light, since we were taking my 1 yr old Corvette - not much space for people or luggage. What a blast it was driving about our scenic country! A plan for David (new Corvette owner), next summer?
@@dayofdave - as “in awe” as you appear to be about mountains, just wait till you see the national parks or the really rugged mountains. Here’s hoping that you can put together a vette road trip next summer! Hope the run went well for you - puff puff!
Yes, be prepared for the weather to change up there on Pikes Peak. Even there in Manitou, the weather can change to snow and then get sunny a couple of hours later. Never believe the weather forecasts here. Also, if you get lost, just know that when you see the mountains, you’re going west.
Best of luck Dave! Can't wait to see part 2.
Thanks for watching!
I will be praying for you Dave!!! Thanks for sharing your adventures!!
Been to CO. Very beautiful indeed. Good luck mr.

I would love to do that! When I had my 2007 C6 I drove from NJ to South Dakota, it was a great time!

Apparantly it is supposed to snow saturday evening above the tree line.. rain in Manitou Saturday and Sunday morning.. hopefully it's not too bad
Dave, did you travel on your own? Do you have a tag/tracking number so we can track your progress.
I came a few days earlier to try to acclimate to the altitude a little. You can track progress here (I am bib 341) track.brooksee.com/track?h=ppm
How’s it feel driving a wrangler again
Great!
the elevation will get to you
Yea, that is a worry for sure.
