  • Here I use a farm jack with 4x2 supports and a custom made base, to deliberately remove a fence post without pulling the concrete. This technique is used so as to not create a huge void where the ball of concrete would have been.
I remove the post and then jack hammer 2 sides of the concrete out. By removing the fence post, it makes the removal of the concrete so much easier.
Next, I install the new post. Saves a lot of concrete and is just as strong.

I saw a fencing company use a tripod and a come-along to remove steel posts in concrete.
On a large scale, I did it with a chain and the bucketvof a tractor. Less than one minute per post, and they were set in concrete.
I hooked the chain to the bucket, wrapped the posts with the chain, pulled on one end to keep tension, the tractor operator would lift the bucket.
You'd think the chain would slip, but 4 or 5 wraps was enough.
