Slightly irritating that you keep referring to the Duster as a "cheap" car so you don't care about the damage. I would imagine the majority of people would consider £20k for a car to be a very expensive purchase.
Hy, i have a duster 2018, 1.5 dci, to select hill decent control you have to hold the button down to engage. I have descended hills with mud or gravel way steeper than that, and it worked just like the Audi, easy and steady. I ve even tried withoud holdind the steering wheel, it doesn t pull on any sides, it goes down the hills steady and in perfect control!
Not really, nobody takes their vehicles out of the roads to destroy them. Nothing but cladding taking damage would be acceptable to a person in normal circumstances
The RSQ8 would've passed that last challenge also, so then it would've been Audi 12-10 Dacia. It's still nice to see how the Dacia kept up in terms of offroad capabilities with just a fifth of the price.
Well done! Believe me, you will not be disappointed. I have the new Duster, 1.33 tce, 150hp and to be honest, I love this car. Mine have protections on the doors and fenders; the Duster from the video doesn't have these, are protecting your doors to not be hit by other idiots and the protection from the fenders, protect against rocks, debree etc. And it looks better; I don't know why this car doesn't have these-indeed.. They are optional. Cheers
With all the respect I have to you, I seriously believe the driver level is very much responsible of the overall conclusion of this test! I’m sorry I never say anything like this on your videos usually and I’m not an Audi aficionado that would defend them like my life, it’s just my observation as a pretty long time mud driver (first tried it in the army at 18, with a 5t small armoured 4x4, was not super fast but we had no scare from scratching them at all and were trashing them at speeds like no one equipped with brain would, was really great fun, was like rally driver but with 160hp and 3 passengers, you really needed to keep speed in slow corners and slide them with inertia, started a real passion). Nice video anyway 👍🏻
Once we were working in the Audi A8 launch event and were given Q7s. We had to leave the Q7s near the start of the desert so that the professionals could take the guests to the camp through the desert. Apparently a part of the under cover was made of a type of cloth or soft material and all the cars’ under cover got damaged. Audis are not off roaders.
Definitely. We arrived at a point where those prices are just astronomical for a raised up, electronic tin can that will be sold at a major loss. Waste of money and that is what this presentor is advising people to do
This just proves the inutility of such expensive cars. You have to be worried all the time if you try to do some light off road. The Audi și just an overkill that can only go good on normal roads. I think that a just a little bit better equipped Duster would be the perfect car for both light off road and normal road, for most of people.
A person who could actually afford it, would worry about that just as much as you'd be worried in the Dacia. How is that not obvious?... Jesus. You're stuck in your mind, with the evaluations you're making in your mind and like a mоrоn are unable to get the idea that if you had 10 times the money (or 10 times less) you'd be evaluating differently.
The utility of driving the Audi is NOT driving off-road. You know, most places do have streets…in which the neighbours live that you want to impress ;p
As a 75yo farmer I have owned many 4WD vehicles including a 5ltr V10 Toureg (absolutely useless in a muddy field) the original Land Rover Defender is superlative of course, but one of the best was the Subaru Forester which is right up there with the defender. I have owned 3 of each. My key advice is never let a computer between the engine and the wheels, an experienced driver will do better every time!

It's just fact that the Duster will stay as the *best* Offroad Car! Audi is very good at building fast cars and stuff, but *no one* can ever beat Dacia when it goes to Offroad! For example: I've got the Duster 2010 from my Dad and we've been driving this car for 12 years now. We've been through a *lot* of things with the car. And the only thing that got broken until now is just one ignition coil. That's it! Of course, the wearing parts of a car have to be replaced regularly. But that doesn't count. My dad had an accident with the car last year. He was driving with about 50 - 60 km/h and suddenly a cow ran onto the street and hit the cars right front. (Weird, I know...) The cow might still have a headache... But the Duster was just fine! Only a replacement of the side mirror and the right headlight. Which was very cheap actually. All in all: I am now driving a 12 year old Duster with not a single problem anywhere! It's like this car is actually unbreakable! And even after 102.000 km the Duster still has everything (but the wearing parts) completely original! This car is an *unbelievable* piece of *Awesomeness!*
So all the time I was watching this showdown, I was just thinking how my little Jimny would outshine them both. To top it off, I would trust Suzuki in the longterm and I know it will end up being the more reliable over the lot.

Duster won hands down. You can see they even turned off 4WD on Duster at some moment to add drama, but nah. Duster is a real off-roader simple and efficient for real adventurous men, Audi is just a city SUV- of course expensive and luxurious - for clubbing ladies.
Why keep mentioning that the Duster is a _cheap_ car, so can be driven without care and repaired cheaply? Families that purchase a Dacia Duster may not have the financial commitment for the cost of an Audi, let alone the RSQ8. Yes, cost is relative, but to compare cars with such disparate costs and say the cheaper car driver can be reckless or less caring for the car is not required. How about the RSQ8 versus its siblings in the Urus, Bentayga and Cayenne?
As a romanian I send a Big Thanks to CarWOW for promoting Dacia...we all know in reality 20 k is hard to get to buy a car...for most people....100k is almost imposible ! Cheers
It is coming down to the tires. But given the fact that both cars in reality will not be moved off road by most of their owners it really does not matter. What could matter is how well they are doing in winter conditions on normal roads. But I guess with good tires they both do what they are supposed to do.

For this sort of work I would take the duster anyday (of the two cars here). Want a car I whose performance I can actually use and not be worried about bottoming out of scratching or such like
In uphill challenge you should have it best of three and change the lanes to make it more fair. The sides might have differences affecting results :)
If you look at the starting position the rsq8 is level while the dacia in on an incline
@@tristiucatalin1356 Yeah, noticed that... and also Dacia's rear wheels were almost in water, it must be really loose and muddy near that puddle.

@@HadrianTAZ if he wanted the audi to win he would’ve just done the last challenge, which the Audi would’ve gone over the hill quicker then the duster since the Quattro in the Audi is 10x better than the 4x4 in the duster, also the Audi has way more power, which the duster was struggling with in the last test
Slightly irritating that you keep referring to the Duster as a "cheap" car so you don't care about the damage. I would imagine the majority of people would consider £20k for a car to be a very expensive purchase.
for a car 20k is peanuts
He's just being a *ick about it. That's his style.

Why 20k is expensive.. What is average monthly income in Uk?

Hy, i have a duster 2018, 1.5 dci, to select hill decent control you have to hold the button down to engage. I have descended hills with mud or gravel way steeper than that, and it worked just like the Audi, easy and steady. I ve even tried withoud holdind the steering wheel, it doesn t pull on any sides, it goes down the hills steady and in perfect control!
I love how you put the female voice at the start when Darren is giving the signals😂 too good!
being scared to drive the car for the probably of damage makes this a totally unrealistic test
Not really, nobody takes their vehicles out of the roads to destroy them.
Nothing but cladding taking damage would be acceptable to a person in normal circumstances
Exactly, if we assume that the duster owner can afford repairs we should assume the same for the audi owner.
On the contrary, being scared to drive an expensive car through harsh challenges, makes this a very realistic test.
@@ItsMeFred Totally agreed. This made the whole thing unaccurate and unfair, and worse with those tires. Yet an awesome comparison.
The RSQ8 would've passed that last challenge also, so then it would've been Audi 12-10 Dacia. It's still nice to see how the Dacia kept up in terms of offroad capabilities with just a fifth of the price.
I've got a V8TDI Touareg and have just ordered a new Duster to replace it and I'm actually excited for it's arrival.
Cheers
i can assure you that whoever buys a duster is much more likely to be concerned by minor damages than someone who can afford an sq8
That's absolutely true, 20k£ isn't a cheap car for many !
Good thing then that the Duster can be used hard

I'm not a label victim, so I'd take the Dacia over the Chelsea Tractor any day, and use the difference for important real life things.
Definitely. We arrived at a point where those prices are just astronomical for a raised up, electronic tin can that will be sold at a major loss. Waste of money and that is what this presentor is advising people to do
But you can’t exactly blame people for wanting nice things. Not that you are, I’m just making that point
Me too buddy, If i was spending 100k on a car it would not be anything from the VAG that's for sure.
This just proves the inutility of such expensive cars. You have to be worried all the time if you try to do some light off road. The Audi și just an overkill that can only go good on normal roads. I think that a just a little bit better equipped Duster would be the perfect car for both light off road and normal road, for most of people.
Never had one but I just feel a 4x4 Skoda Karoq would be the sweet spot between these. Especially with the facelift that’s coming this month 🤞
ruclips.net/video/nDkpHS5r-_I/видео.html
A person who could actually afford it, would worry about that just as much as you'd be worried in the Dacia. How is that not obvious?... Jesus.
You're stuck in your mind, with the evaluations you're making in your mind and like a mоrоn are unable to get the idea that if you had 10 times the money (or 10 times less) you'd be evaluating differently.
The utility of driving the Audi is NOT driving off-road. You know, most places do have streets…in which the neighbours live that you want to impress ;p
4:30 That man head is brighter than my life.

Off-roading while constantly being worried about damaging the car. There you go.
Duster is a price /performance suv.👏
The duster automatically wins coz you will never see an audi off-road.
I would love to see him saying we gonna have drag hill race or offroad race
So all the time I was watching this showdown, I was just thinking how my little Jimny would outshine them both. To top it off, I would trust Suzuki in the longterm and I know it will end up being the more reliable over the lot.
jimny is a much smaller car..is more offroad specific than duster
He did have it in fwd mode I could tell from the start
These duals are really fun! I didn't expect the Audi to do so well though, Audi definitely knows how to make 4WD cars

The Dacia really isn't on offroad tyres unless you think offroad is a mild angled grassy bank.

Audi:Gets 10 points
Dacia:Also gets 10 points

For the cost of a Q8, you can buy a much better on road A7 and a Duster to driving off-road without care about what will you broke.
Duster TCE 150 4WD from 2022 is a beast! Top speed 230kmh on the speedo tough off road!👍
You have to practice your clutch control mate. It's very useful to slip the clutch when the power is cutting down
Like we dont know who will win. DACIA POWER
Yeah I can agree that the Duster was in FWD in the first race coz you can see that the front tires spin up a LOT in the first up hill race
It is coming down to the tires. But given the fact that both cars in reality will not be moved off road by most of their owners it really does not matter. What could matter is how well they are doing in winter conditions on normal roads. But I guess with good tires they both do what they are supposed to do.
Stability control must be switched off in the duster when in 4 x4 mode. The duster is a fantastic lifestyle vehicle. Good off road, very good fuel economy and like driving a small car in the city. Nothing on the market like it
Don't forget Dacia Duster has a Nissan transmission, it will be a great 4x4 but is missing a bigger engine..🤔
They got one with 150 Horses, plenty of power there. 1.3 Turbo.
Yeah but for offroading you dont need a big engine, the one tested here is more than enough.
Dacia FOR THE WIN
I see Carwow notification! I click it …
It’s that simple…!
The duster needs to be driven with stability control off in off road. Why have you done the test with esp on? The Dacia is disadvantaged with this setting.
