Awesome video. Another solid dump of information. The one thing that may have been missed is if someone wants to keep the R180, they can order CV shafts from a 2014 QX80 and have Titan swap width CV axles that fit the R180.
I would want the added strength of a larger differential. And they are super cheap you can get them for 100-200$ so it’s a no brainer. Your option works well too but when stronger is just as cheap why not!
The main reason I went with SPC upper arms for my truck was for ability to push the wheels forward to give more room for the tires while still allowing proper alignment specs. I was able to use the ADO lockout washers maxed out and used the upper arm to set the camber and caster. It is still a ball joint, so I doubt any travel was gained over an OEM arm.
I love that the SPC arms do that. I worry that since I was alone talking I wasn’t able to convey 100% of the message I wanted but really the goal was to show you can get good travel out of this truck for cheap and it be reliable. Those SPC arms are legit!
@@andys_log it's good to show / have discussion of all ways to titan swap. Like you mentioned, it's easy to think you need to throw cubic dollars at a rig to make it better. If a person was looking at a suspension with a few miles and was buying tie rods and possibly control arms anyway, it's not much more to make it awesome.
Dude this deep dive into a budget titan swap was wicked to learn about. I thought a titan swap wouldent of made sense for me until now. Only hard part sounds like switching out the front diffs on the floor. i would want to run stock parts for sure rather then custom 1 off half axles
@@max.b92i think i read your comment wrong my bad but i was just saying the m205 is a better way to go im actually titan swapped but i have the r180 running qx80 axles and they have been fine so far. My dilemma is my truck is a king cab i have a m226 with a locker but my truck didn't have it originally my m226 came off a older 2wd nismo off-road so it and my truck are geared with 3.13 gears so for me to get the m205 i have to regear my truck which blew my budget up big time because i dont trust myself to do gearing i installed my rear axle and titan swap kit but ive never done gearing so im gonna have to pay a shop to do that which sucks. But the m205 is a stronger diff and the axles are supposed to be stronger than the qx80 shafts from what ive heard but they are easier to change out too.
@thedude828-ed2nn nice thanks for the knowledge. and your truck is awesome. so regarding running frontier front struts on a titan swap, assuming they make titan swap specific struts, what issies can arise from running lets say a bilstein 4600 with a 2 inch spacer with a titan swap in the long run? like shock bottoming out, control arm binding or anything?
Thanks for sharing!! Love the fact you pointed out the upper control arm is also stock Titan and you don't have coil bucket. I am currently piecing my titan swap suspension for my Xterra
So with this budget T-swap I could use stock frontier coilovers with a 2-2.5 in spacer and some adjustable cam bolts and be somewhat aligned/ lifted? I would do it for science, but atm it is my daily 😂
Correct. Keep in mind the more you lift the more you will need adjustment. So if you plan to lift over 2-3” you absolutely will need aftermarket upper control arms and should run a coil over
@@andys_log thank you. I’ll do my research about this. But in my initial research, the D40’s stock upper and lower control arms are compatible with the Nissan D23. Even the upper ball joints are the same. Is the Titan’s upper ball joint also same as the D40’s?
Just get a add a leaf and some new shackles and you will be good if you're trying to keep it cheap. Oh yeah and some 1.5 in wheel spacers if you want to keep it looking even with the front.
Hey, quick question. Where can I find a locking rear differential for a reasonable price. I was given a rebuilt R-180 with the 3.36 gear ratio but can’t find a decent price on the locking rear differential. I know I could change out the ring & pinion. But would rear like to have the locker
So I really want t to do this to my 2016 frontier desert runner. One question is that I also want to put leveling spacers on to give me a 2” additional lift. Is that possible? I’d like a 6” suspension lift, with the 4” Titan swap. Could I get longer radflow shocks that would help me achieve this?
What I was talking about here is a budget travel. You need to specify “hack job” in your searching criteria and I bet you can better find the answer you are looking for
I think you can do Spindles on a 2wd, then with a titan suspension swap that will allow you to run a larger coilover. You’ll have to speak to someone that’s done that specific setup to find out the sizing
@@dahatcheryi think you need a drop bracket for that, anything past 3 inch lift and the cv could bind at full droop. I have a 6 inch rc lift but im pulling it off and going for 2.5 inch titan swap.
@@marco4081 my truck isn’t 4wd. I know that all I would need is CST 4” lift spindles and because of that perhaps run the Titan upper control arms and a 2” spacer lift. That should give a good 6” total lift, install the Titan lowers control arms when I’m ready for an additional 3-4” lift for a nice prerunner look .
I specifically didn’t touch on that because every setup is different. If you are on this setup on 3inches with a good alignment you should be fine. If you are 3 or more on this setup you might have to get an aftermarket upper for more adjustment. That extra inch of lift won’t do as much as you’d like off-road. Trust me lol

Do you have Titan or Frontier Knuckle on there?
So what should I do to extend my front brake lines?
You should swap a vk56 v8 from the titan as well. It is a simple-ish swap as well.
Lol
Are you sure he should?
I'm pretty sure he's already done it.

Not everyone has desired results depending on parts used. Glad you figured it out!
This Nissan Frontier is the D40 correct? Because I believe the D40's front IFS is also similar to the D23 NP300

So for my 11 frontier I can buy 11 Titan arms and rods then put my +2 struts in? With the QX axles of course.
How durable will it be with stock parts? I have a stock 2016 desert runner. Could I use my stock billstiens?
What brake hose do I need to purchase?
I don't see the sway bar? Is there a way?
Yep. Just run titan sway bar. If lifted for sure run after market extended links.
