I was thinking about taking my 2023 Frontier to a shop and getting a leveling kit but doing some research I came across your video and was really helpful man thank you so much you're a life saver if you do other mods keep posting them, just got a new subscriber here. Now I'm ordering the same leveling kit to install this weekend lol.
Thanks for posting, this was super helpful. Took myself and a buddy all of 2.5hrs to install. Only thing I would add is when doing the rear, it's easiest to place the jack under the tow hitch, making sure you get the back wheels off the ground. it will take a lot of the pressure off the leaf spring and make it easier to get it to move down. In my opinion it is the perfect lift height for the truck and is only $150... So, if you are on the fence, go get it and install it!
The only problem with this Rough Country 2" spacer lift kit method is that you will get "Coil Bucket Contact" with control arms. It's cheap, easy and looks good but its not very functional for off roading. Better to install larger control arms that will eliminate coil bucket contact. I recommend "Z1 Off Road" control arms or "All Dogs High Clearance" control arms.
Bruh! looks good, only thing I would've added on to do is put some new belsteins on all 4 and also install a new upper A arms for the front, and call it a day..
I just did a few things: 1: Just purchased a Nissan Pro 4X 2: Watched this video and subscribed for multiple reasons (that t-shirt and I’m thinking of putting a leveling kit on my truck. I’m a Buccos fan and still reeling from the ‘92 NLCS but love listening to the ballgame in the garage) 3: Purchased a Z1 leveling kit. My worry is the factory UCA, bc I hear it can contact coil spring at full drop, whatever that means. Maybe I’ll replace with an adjustable UCA…. Anyway, I’ll have a few Miller Lites or IC Lites when I tackle this project. Thank you and look forward to more of your videos.
Yea I’ve heard from multiple folks the Bucs nation is still salty over that slide. I don’t blame them either. But the Pirates look a ton better with this youth group they have coming in. Finally! Lol. The uca will hit the frame area that the strut mounts to. It does it not when you go over a bump (that causes upward travel) but more when you hit a pot hole ( downward travel of uca) or do some off roading. Personally I just drive knowing I need to be easy regarding the uca. But it is next on my list of mods. Mostly just so everyone can see the issue. Thanks for checkin us out and look for our cold air intake video coming up this week
Yes, the UCA will hit the bucket. The z1 off road model looks nice, so does the NISMO and I believe the NISMO does not have a ball joint that requires lubing every 5k miles, and about 100 less in price.
Nice thanks for uploading this installment video I have a 2023 frontier and thinking about getting one I don't really go off road but I like to lift it.
First, you DO NOT have to remove the upper ball joint from the spindle if ONLY removing the coilover assembly! However if dong a two inch lift (basically any block lift over 1.5" for sure, you will get coil bucket contact so new upper control arms need to be replaced. And if replacing UCAs you do need to pull the spindle, do I have to note that?
You are welcome my friend. The toe is fine, but the camber bolts need to be added to fix the positive camber. You need 2 sets which is 4 total. Local parts stores carry them.
@@TheAdamConners You'll need more than the eccentric cam bolts to get rid of all of the positive camber. An upper control arm with camber adjustment will be necessary if you're looking to dial the camber in to zero.
Great tips! Question for you. Is it not 2” less spring travel, compressed spring = stiffer ride? Did you do an alignment? Got these (similar but different brand) on my 2005 Frontier Nismo 4.0. Stiffer ride, go through shocks more often, definitely had to do an alignment after lift… almost 20 years ago.
@@paulauksztulewicz4803 thanks for watching. No the springs aren’t more or less compressed. If they were there wouldn’t be a 2” ride height. Rides just the same as stock.
Nice video and good skills. Love that you put you kid to work! But you really need high clearance UCAs for this to work for real. You will get contact going over speed bumps and some other "obstacle" while not even off-roading.
I actually did mine without touching the upper control arm. Just started by disconnecting the sway bar, then top 3 nuts on the strut, last was the bottom strut bolt and it was out.
@@TheAdamConners I appreciate you putting out the how to. There’s some instruction vids out there but most of us don’t have a lift and an endless supply of tools to do this with. So a realistic DIY instruction vid, in my opinion is just a more realistic view of what you’re getting yourself into 🙌🏼
@@TheAdamConners Hey just wanted to post an update on my post. So what I said initially was true, it worked, but it was for a smaller spacer than yours. Today I installed the Nismo kit, which had a slightly taller spacer than my first one. You definitely need to loosen, *but not remove* the upper control arm nut. That gave me enough room to get the strut and spacer through. I had to use a pry bar to align the bottom strut mount. It was the biggest pain, anyway, sorry for the novel, but just wanted to post an “amendment” to my original post
I rarely to never comment. Great job. Had my ‘22 pro4x since 11/21 and loved it. Got nisstec spacers and spc control arms and haven’t installed it for several months. Will probably do this weekend. What did you use to loosen the upper control arms other than socket wrench?
Well I am honored you would use your comment on us 😁. Actually I didn’t have to do anything to the upper control arms. I was able to use a pry bar to lift the control arms up to allow a little better clearance to the 3 bolts on the strut mount. However, since you are replacing the control arms anyways I would recommend a cheater bar on the ratchet if you are having problems using a socket wrench. If you don’t have sockets then a ratchet wrench maybe the next best answer. Closed end wrench lastly. You could use a cheater bar on both of those as well. Thanks for watching Punky 👍🏽👍🏽

Maybe offset was a bad word to use. I see that the leafsprings are "offset" from the chassis. Let's use degrees. The passenger side shackles are 90 degrees to the ground but driver side are like 87 degrees to the ground. Does that make better sense? Lol. Are we still talking about the same thing?
Did you have to use the lower control arm Eccentric Bolt Kit to get the alignment correct.? Also I see you could use the Pro4x OEM Nissan Engine Skid Plate to protect the oil pan. Cost is 29.00 with hardware from Z-1 Offroad. cheap insurance, peace of mind.
Yes on the eccentric boot kit. And I will check out that skid plate for sure. I’ll be getting a cai from them soon. Probably be the next video I’ll do.
Adam, I was watching your video as I'm more than likely going to be getting a 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X. When you placed that Rough Country 2.5 inch Lift Kit it looks like the angle is going to be putting a lot of stress on the upper control arm. Any time you are replacing components especially with aftermarket parts I always try to upgrade any suspension parts that are part of the core components especially if they are going to be in added additional stress above and beyond what the original parts were designed for. I was a mechanic in the Army for years and have dealt with the added abuse from suspension systems, etc. I would look at possibly getting a set of the Z1 Off-road front upper control arms and add them to your truck as well. It can save you a lot of time down the road not to mention frustration in case you have a component fail due to added stress. Better to address it up front than deal with it down the road and possibly have even more damage to deal with at that point.

No, the positive camber added by raising it is corrected via camber bolts on the lower arm.
@@TheAdamConners does this fit the 2022 pro 4x ?
@@tomhawco12 yes it fits 2005-2023 frontiers
@@tomhawco12 unless you mean the camber bolts. They fit too.
No alignment needed?
One question, you lost the alignment of the cambers.
Yes the camber was out. What is your question?
How bad is the coil bucket contact with those stock uppers
Not bad at all if you are mindful of the issue. My view is this: you should be planning on doing the upper control arms anyways, so what’s the problem with riding on the stock ones in the meantime?
Is the 2 inch lift enough to add bigger tires?
Uploading that video end of the week hopefully 😃
New video uploaded. Should answer all your questions about tire size.
@johnphillips1856
what size tire will clear with 2.5" lift?
I posted a video on 285/70 tires. Check it out and tell me what you think.
What is your gas mileage now?
20 on the nose.
@@TheAdamConnerswhat was it before?
I wonder if this breaks my lease
@@williamkozloski6051 can’t answer about a lease. But it won’t void the warranty.
I’m thinking the same thing. Can always take it off before return
they wont let me do that in the apartments. lol.
Do it at night.
Old-school mechanics will tell you to replace ALL old cotter pins with new ones. Period.
That shirt 🤣🤣
@@Real90sfeel 😂 Surprised that didn’t get pointed out more frequently.

Latex gloves didn't last long. 😆
I usually get a solid five minutes out of them. Lol.
5 Minutes..... more like an hour.
