Hi Karen, I’m not a medic and appreciate that a workout is great. From personal experience of occupational use of a sledgehammer and heavy power tools I would advise anyone to find an alternative method as much as possible. Personally I have arthritis in my elbows and shoulders and I put it down to the impact of such equipment. Great video as always.
I'm confident in saying that when your next video comes out Karen, you will have hit 💥20 Thousand Subscribers💥 and that is brilliant! Lots of time and effort and camera placing and editing while still trying to get the farm jobs done and hold down another full time job! It's been a real pleasure to watch you share Your REAL on Your REEL and witness the good, bad, happy and sad times all with grace and a smile! For me the humor you slip in from time to time is spot on Hilarious and really reminds me of my job and how I'm always trying to have fun while getting the job done! Always a treat to see The Sassy Miss Norma! 🤣 Appreciate my seat in here! Cheers From Across The Pond In COW-lumbus, Ohio MOO 👋
And maybe a bit the global warming too. Don't know exactly what it's been in Ireland but most everywhere has been the hottest ever month every single month all the last year
Hi Karen thanks for sharing another great video. Great job on the fencing, don't you just hate it when the wire grabs your foot 😅. The reseed is coming along looks good, just shows you topping has made a difference. Thanks again take care and stay safe 👍 😊.
The questions and thoughts you have are the same that goes through every farmers head as your in the business of maximizing ground. btw lmao "as square as a roundabout" as i havent that one in a while... Keep up the savage work.
I have finally got rid of some persistent shrubs that I uprooted a couple of years ago. I am not a fan of glyphosate but using this technique it worked without destroying the new greenery. Its simple but probably tedious in your case. I had a battery drill with a 4 mm drill bit to drill a hole vertically into the new growth. Then a I had syringe with a blunt needle and filled the newly drilled hole with a strong mix of glyphosate. Worked a treat no more regrowth from the roots. Of course there are products specifically for destroying woody growth beside glyphosate.
Your cattle look in good fettle. The topping has definitely improved the grass . Like I said in my previous comment I'd like to see you with a chain harrow to allow air into the bottom of the sward and help to break up any thatch left after topping. I'd go in now and try to remove the whin Bush roots before they get a chance to establish and it would allow the grass to quickly fill any gaps that you left. Your dad may not acknowledge that the topping is working but I'll bet he is incredibly proud of what you achieve.
You may find it easier to get a handheld post driver, doesn't break top of steaks so much, I think there around £30 .00 but sometimes they come up on market place
Thanks for sharing another excellent video. Watching you driving the fence posts brings memories of my Uncle shouting " hit it can't you" usually followed by " what does your mother feed you" 😂😂
Hi Karen Bob from Aus. He is your Father what do you expect getting acknowledgement from them is like having your teeth pull a big Pain.I know as a child i went through this as well. Your paddocks all look great and can see the new one is well on its way as well. Never expect to much from the first year and saying that i feel yours look as though with a drop of rain they will kick on. Oh yes and cutting rushes and like most weeds if you do fertilize shortly after you can burn the base and cut dow there growth and spread from taking up any more of your space. Lets hope with all your very hard work you will be rewarded with a full service of calves when it is time. Great Vidoe as always. Aussie Bob.
lush pasture is good for them and good for karen. ive got a man just up the road and his cows are robot milked. the grass has shot up again so fast and hes lucky enough to get a second cut silage done already . but this year looking at youre lot. if its not good enough weather for the grass to grow for them , they aint going to have enough. hopefully you will. tell you what , you will remember this year for being different . i bet youre man can tell you a few tales about years gone buy. but this year says to me that its not right. keep smiling , happy and doing what you do well. good on you karen/kerry.
you made me smile today, when you said your fence is as square as a round bale 😂. you tripped over the electric fence shouting "oh jesus" 😂, and i notice you have learned the old farmers trick of turning the wheels of the gaiter to face the hedge incase it runs away 😂. entertaining and funny, keep up the good videos 😂.
Hi Karen, thanks for another entertaining video. I don't know why but when you caught your foot on the wire fence it just reminded me of Benny Hill, he was a comedian 😂. It tickles me when you speak to the animals you remind me of Dr Dolittle.🤣And you and your dad are like an old married couple, one of them will never give in even when they are wrong. Good family viewing, mostly 🤣🤣. Congrats on the 20k subscribers 💙👍
@karenmoynihanfarm I've two different Solar Fencers here last two years and my sucklers haven't gone through them yet. Way better than battery fencers and some are not that expensive when you consider the cost of the batteries for battery fencers.
Hi just letting you know that there is clips that you can buy in co-op that goes on the pigtails and you can screw them on doing great work with the land and grass it is the topping 😂
Hey. I am a dad to three wonderful kids. It's my job never to admit I am wrong. I am so proud of my girl. Your dad must be so proud of you too. I take it you don't have brothers. No mind because you would out shine them even if you had. Dad's are stubborn creatures, he loves you so much. It's just the way it is. just keep doing what you are doing and make him read the comments. Jim in NZ.
Hey Karen you’re doing well keeping fit rather than being lazy 😝 those fern shoots need putting out as they will steal valuable nutrients.😂 almost a bleeper trip 😅
Hi Karen Is the furze the same as gorse? Could you spot spray it? Or if it’s above the grass use a weed wiper? Glyphosate kill most things and a hand held weed wiper is not too expensive. They need some foliage to take up the chemical though

the fertilizer and lime is a big help but your "topping" did the trick for the fast improvement over last year. Very impressive fields.
You are amazing young lady!!
Topping has made a massive difference, it might take a few years to get rid of the rushes. But when spraying isn't an option it's the best way

When you bush hog or as you say topping it cuts the weeds back and gives the grass a chance to grow along with the fertilizer good job
Bless you love ❤

Hello karen felix here farmer. from South Armagh louth bother!! Like your video's. Allso you look beautiful!!🙂
Suckler proof comment seemed very apt for this video with day that was in it!
Glynn the Sheep shepard in Kilgarvan has solar powered fences that would be ideal for those isolated fencing jobs.
Yes they seem good alright but big money
@karenmoynihanfarm I've two different Solar Fencers here last two years and my sucklers haven't gone through them yet.
Way better than battery fencers and some are not that expensive when you consider the cost of the batteries for battery fencers.
Well, you got what we call "pay for work" meaning grass as a result of labor and intelligence 😀. Well done!
They look to be decent posts,at least you didn't get a shock climbing over the wire😂
Those John Deere gators sure are handy !!
Hi just letting you know that there is clips that you can buy in co-op that goes on the pigtails and you can screw them on doing great work with the land and grass it is the topping 😂
So that I can put a second strand of wire??
@@karenmoynihanfarm ya go into your local coop and ask them slip on the top and other piece screws on to it ideal for stopping calves breaking out
You were very polite with the trip through the fence wire 😂😂for me a trip or a skid even..need *******words
🤣🤣🤣
Nice job ☘️
feilds look amasing you doing a great job but if i was you id let the new grass come through then deal with the fir roots
Good stuff
Hallo Karen your cattle are in great shape you have lots of grass in all your fields you look like a rally driver in the gator

Tip for you, if they won’t call to the gate, try quietly walking a quiet one, the rest should follow.
A small break equals a good rest,.
❤
That material that you cut up wiith the mower is almost as good as manure fertilizer so yes cutting those rushes and thistles add to the nutrition.
Well if your Dad won’t sayit, I know he is very proud of you. What father wouldn’t be. ❤❤
Thanks Mella ❤️
Topping is paying off grass will take over when Topping rushes
Well Karen, u were saying about ur rushs , why not try the weedwiper , l find it. Very good, don't cut them for few months, ,
Nice stock there.
Sorry I was one of the stand in the Gator people 😅. Did make me laugh out loud. 😂😂😂

Recon the weather has knackered up the bulling this time , can't see them in heat , we estrumated some other day to get they cycling.

Yes it's the same thing. maybe spot spraying would be the best
I think Grazon pro in 1 litre bottles does gorse, as well as nettle, dock and thistle, plus its grass safe 👍
First class fencing
Your topping did the trick, get your new growth rushes licked and you wont know the fields in a few years........best iof luck with Dad..
A bit of rain and heat will drive it on
Sounds like your getting a lot of silent heats, maybe a bullock or teaser bull
I find the scratch cards great, use them on the heifers, easy and clean to put on...Hope Michelle wasn't to put out 😂😂
