Having a cow for 21 years and only having issues within the past 2 years just speaks to the care this farmer gives his animals.
its also a breed thing. and a use thing. better adaptation means less issues
@@a_lethe_ion VERY very true. They are easy keepers.
Here in Australia, it is common to have deliberate spillage, at the water trough. This mud keeps the hoofs hydrated.
Those are the CUTEST cows !
What an awesome-looking cow!
Graeme's huge grin while he's scritching the world's most adorable calfpuppy brightened my whole day, no joke.
“Calfpuppy”. Great name!
I thought the same thing. That "calf puppy" touched his soul. Made his day for sure
100%
Honestly, his smile is what really made this video.
came down here to say the same. His laughter is contagious =)
If someone told me there’s a Curley haired Scottish bloke who trims cows hooves and plays romantic love songs over the top on RUclips, I’d have laughed but I honestly watch these and just love how much Graham loves these animals and his job. You are a credit to the farming community my friend what a great bloke!
Same! I watch probably just as much to just see the love and care he has for these animals. Scotland's version of Steve Irwin! Steve would be have been great friends with Graham.
@@heidipatton5858 I still miss Steve Irwin :(
And he lives in one of the most beautiful locations in the world! Those opening shots make me realize how lucky he is to live there. I'd love to live there, too.
I have took the pills 😊
I skip the music but agree 100%
I’m a 74 year old lady that has never had a cow and will never have a cow, but I love watching y’all work on these animals.❤❤
I'm a 75 y/o man from the USA, never owned a cow but it doesn't stop me from lovin' em. My family had a horse ranch but no cattle.
I had to mind a yearling highland cow for a while many years ago. She loved to romp with me and allowed me to bulldog her. I was separated from her for eighteen years. When I saw her again , she immediately came to me and pressed her poll into my stomach which was her way of saying "let's play!" I couldn't believe she remembered me after so many years!
They are amazing creatures.
Omg that’s amazing ❤
That is so cool!
Your heart must have skipped a beat? I love this story. It would make a nice children's book. ❤❤❤
What a wonderful story 😊❤
You had a one of a kind of experience. What a nice memory to carry.💕
I like how much thicker his accent gets when talking to a fellow countrymen instead of the voiceover voice he uses. Awesome!
Seeing her little hairy legs dangling made me smile, what a wonderful old lady. Lovely to see how well she is cared for even at her age and what a pair of magnificent horns.
Me, too! 🙂This is my favourite episode yet and I'm still smiling after seeing those gorgeous calves!
@htb123 same made me giggle. Dainty little hoof from a huge beast of a coo.
My big hairy balls are dangling as we speak 😂
Like me after the winter 😅
Meee toooo!!
I love how Graeme's accent gets thicker talking to this guy, whose accent is rich and lovely.
This was one of the best afternoons we’ve had in a while!!! Absolutely loved this little job and pretty much saw it as a good day out 😊
can you please let me know what was the instagram account for the farm :)
What a beautiful farm! Amazing how you can maneuver those horns into the crush! Lucky she helped!
Coos and ewes, there was more to it but this is all I googled n it came up ❤@rosedespoina
@@rosedespoinaThe name of the farm is Kitchen Coos and Ewes. You may be able to find it by name.
How far are you from kitchen’s farm Mr. Hoof GP? If I come to that area; I’d love to see you work….and I am a pretty handy stable hand as well!
Love your vids and the joy you have in your work. Always make me smile!
So. My Grandfather was a rancher in Little Big Horn Montana. He had a picture of HIS grandfather who had Scottish Highland Cattle. About 100 head. The picture was from 1889.
Im pretty sure the inbreeding from american cattle created the Texas longhorn. My Grandpappy had a longhorn named Blue. He would walk up to Blue and scratch his head. It was the most affection i ever saw that man impart on another living being.
I love my Grandad. RIP Kip Ripley
❤❤❤
I'm so impressed that she could rotate her head side to side to get her massive horns in the crush.
I guess they know how big they are, probably the same way you know how long your feet are without having to look at the stair to climb them without subbing your toes.
I thought they were gonna have to back her into the crush, but no
Starting at 10:55... OMG, giant hoofed barn puppies!!! Squeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
Maybe cows need wellies to keep their hooves dry 😂
We have highlands up the road from me. A calf once got out into the road. I pulled over, ready to dash to the farmhouse to get help, when a random neighbor in a pickup truck stopped, scooped up the calf, put it back over the stone wall, and whistled to the mother cow. She trotted up and collected her baby. The guy jumped in his truck and kept driving.
Rural folks are so kind!
Little stinker! Wonder how he managed THAT little stunt!
The cuteness of those coo babies is why they made a miniature highland cow breed. Those are the ones Mrs HGP might agree to getting
I had no idea! Thanks for alerting us to this cuteness!
@@eldaroses.g.r.7945I follow a page in the US who has mini highlands. I'm totally in love with them.
She’s a friendly girl. I got a chance to hand feed her when I was there in 2022. Good to see her being properly taken care of.
In all the hundreds of videos that I’ve watched of the Hoof GP, I don’t remember ever seeing you smile and laugh, as you did with the curly haired Scottish calves. I think they should be therapy calves… at least for the first few months.
My jaw hurt because I was smiling so much… thank you ❤❤
Highland cows are the most docile of all cows. If you want pet cows, they are definitely the best choice.
They are docile but the accolade for the most docile breed in Europe is the red Devon and Jersey breeds.
I personally had a pet highlander, his name was Barney. He was just like a 1000 pound puppy.
I got to pet one at a Scottish clan gathering in Connecticut. Wonderful.
Even though they are docile, wild highlanders should be respected. Do not pet strange cows.
That said, we have wild highlanders and wild horses here. They are both incredibly chill. If you come across a herd of horses relaxing while standing, you can simply sit next to them and they won't mind. The highlanders are even more chill. Had a bull casually walk a bit too close to a couple. The couple got scared and quickly walked away, the bull just stood and watched before he continued on his way.
Definitely the easygoing hippy cousin to the Texas Longhorns. Those critters are used to fighting off dangerous predators, so they're not even remotely friendly. They're a darned sight cuter too. 😂
I love how Graeme switches to his native tongue when speaking with the locals.
It was as though she knew what you were there to do for her. She goes right in without a fuss, works her horns though, patiently hangs out, and watches everyone else. Now that's classy. ❤
I absolutely don’t know why I’m drawn to this channel other than my family heritage, this soft spoken man and my love of these gentle creatures. ❤
I can't believe how beautiful, how cute this cow is. She's gorgeous, I'm in awe of her beauty. Thank you Graeme for treating her pain. Shout out to Kevin, Craigie Boy and the farm where this cow calls home.
Me and my wife are proud owners of 2 Highland cows.
And they truly are Majestic creatures. Great video!!
I love the way Highland cattle look so adorable, even when they could easily mow you over if they wanted to.
Always remember that any cattle beast, even a half grown one, can do you a lot of harm or even kill you. Cattle are the most dangerous domestic animal that we have in the UK. Ones with horns just have an extra weapon.
Who knew a 77 yr old US lady would watch the Hoof GP? Fascinating. I did grow up around cows.
76 years in Canada
65 year old American lady watching from Italy. My grandfather (of Scottish descent) had a farm & cows in Nova Scotia. I find these videos so interesting. 🎉😀
Okay, these are the cutest breed of cattle I've ever seen. The silly bangs, the outsized horns, the shaggy coat... so cute.
Belted Galloways are also cute. They look like giant Oreos with legs.
She's the calmest lady I've ever seen. ❤️❤️
I lived on a farm as a child with Black Angus in Kentucky, USA. My favorite cow was Betsy. She was so friendly and would follow me around for pets and cuddles. Her favorite game was for me to turn my backside to her and she'd lift me up off the ground with her nose and pitch me a few feet. She was so careful doing it and we both loved it. I love cows! They have beautiful big eyes and the prettiest eyelashes that most of us women would pay big money to have. I just found your channel a couple of months ago and find it extremely interesting and informative. It brings back great memories. I was an only child so the animals were my siblings. Besides the cows, calves, and bull, I had horses, ponies, cats, dogs, monkeys, turtles, fish, frogs, and/or whatever I rescued due to injury. I would nurse it back to health and release it. That would make me cry but it was the best thing for the animals. Thanks to you, your crew, and family. Y'all are very entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
❤🐮❤🐄❤🐂❤
I have always loved Highland cows. I would've never been able to leave that calf there! 😂 Precious.
Hey I’m from Kentucky too!
@@highshipper9222 Hey there fellow Kentuckian! 😀👋
What beautiful cows. These are the ones that look so cuddly. Like always, Graeme talks to these wonderful creatures with compassion, and it shows, by the way he does his best make them as comfortable as possible. It warms my heart everytime I watch his videos. Graeme you are a good man. Thank you for sharing your lifes work with us.
Like cats with their whiskers, only MUCH pokier.
She's absolutely gorgeous!
You deserve the best life has to offer, Graeme ! Humanity needs you !
I want ti hug the fuzzy cow SO BAD! But, knowing my mental state, I would start crying with how safe she looks to hug.
They are stink as hell...
Yes then I Can’t let go.
That's something I can greatly relate to! And I pray that Jesus would reveal himself to you. Being in his presence is to feel so much love! It drowns you in his goodness and changes your heart to love everyone. Even my enemies, which is impossible on my own.
Listen to John Burke and the scientifically proven afterlife cases. Even with differing religions, cultures and languages, they all mostly agree with the amazing love felt. And it fits the Bible of the Christians! Jesus Christ is Lord! And he can heal your heart.
I recommend hugging a fuzzy cow, it’s pretty epic. They’re kinda like giant but kinda shy at first dogs.
Highland cattle are quite sweet and friendly.
I can see how she’s the star of the show because she’s absolutely adorable! 🩷🩷
Look at her little legs just hanging there swinging in the air. HOW CUTE ARE THESE COWS, I just love them. ❤❤You are so lucky!
Shes about the most gorgeous animal i have ever seen i want to give her a great big hug 🤗
Graeme and the fluffy calves... what a smile on your face, Sir. Seeing a farm caring for their older cows and treating them with respect for all the years the cow produced for them is truly heartening. Thank you for sharing.
The Highlander, well regarded by their owners for their friendliness and long hair.
And you can spin their fur like wool! Which makes me want a wee coo sweater 😂
Love seeing you act like a boy with a puppy. Those babies are sooooo cute.
The delight on Graeme's face while he was patting that lcaf made me smile. It is so obvious that you love these animals. A joy to watch - and learn from.
What an amazing lady! Can't believe you were able to maneuver her horns into the crush!
She manoeuvred her own horns into the crush. You can't force highlander (yes, I've worked with them) into narrow spaces if they don't choose to go there; but they are, as Graeme said in the video, like cats in that they know exactly where they can (and can't go). For regular handling there are specially adapted crushes which are easier for them, but they don't cater for the hoof trimming bit.
This video is so wholesome 😊❤ Highland cows are my new favourite cows. Looks how cute and cuddly! ❤️ Also, it's super beautiful to see how much Graeme trully loves cows and his job. This is easily one of my favourite videos. Thank you guys.
I like how much extra effort cows like this take and how it shows that you’re still very committed to helping the cows despite the extra effort required.
She is absolutely gorgeous thank you for keeping her feeling comfy.
I loved hearing the farmer say “coos.” Just made me smile. Big fan of dialects and linguistic variation. 😁
21!!!!! I didn't know cows lived that long.
20 years. That's the natural lifespan of a cow.
Tragically, we humans rarely let them live that long.
The absolute JOY on your face cuddling those fluffy babies at the end! 😭
The little one just loves the scratches. So sweet. Thank you for both sharing this video and taking such wonderful care of the grand lady. I loved it.
Thank you for helping the 21 yr old big horned beauty. Getting those horns in the crush without injurying herwas skill on your part. You guys are great 👍😃
I had a horse that was in her late 30s when she passed, I had her all of her life except for the very first 4 years ( I was 6 when we got her and she just passed last winter, I'm 38 now). She was a Spanish breed called a paso fino and came from some famous bloodlines which I feel contributed to her being so healthy and well bred.
My oldest guy lived until about 33. He was an Appy. And he looked fat and happy until the very end.
@@Upstaged07 ,
Appaloosa's are a popular and fine breed of horse, that was my first horse, named him 'Tony'.
I loved the joy on your face when you were with the baby highlands.
Highland Cattle have pretty privilege but honestly they also seem to have amazing personalities. Thanks for helping her and I'm impressed you can fit her massive horns in the crush
The picture of her facing out of the crush with those horns, priceless. The babies are so adorable. Don't know how you resisted taking one home. We have a farm with highland cows near where I live. Love seeing them. Thanks for sharing.
The pure joy on your face while loving on that calf was adorable!
Your consideration of this grand dame was exemplary.
Eat your hearts out, I raised Highland heifers in Eaton Rapids Michigan back in the early 90's. Some are as friendly as dogs. This was Queen Elizabeth's own breed. I rue the day I didn't buy a life time membership in the American Highland Cattle Association.
She might have had some on one of her colonial lands but the breed isn’t hers.
They existed in the Highlands long before her German family stole the English throne.
I am so in love with Scotland. The countryside is so beautiful. Thank you for the video. ❤❤
You could gift Mrs HGP with a mini calf.... those mini Highland are so cute!
Like baby rabbits they don't stay "mini" and neither do their horns. I suspect that Mrs HGP would be wise to refuse such a gift for practical reasons.
@@jennypratt5345 the "mini" highlands mature to around 40"... there's also "micro-minis" which mature around 32-36". I only know bc my daughter wants one so I've been trying to read up on them & learn as much as I can before we take the leap.
I never thought you'd get those horns thru the crush so easily. I had a dairy and beef cows, but mine were dehorned as calves. So the horns never grew and I have little experience with horns. My time was 40 years ago and then we had nobody with Graeme's ability doing trimming. It's amazing to an old guy. Most of the repair work Graeme does, required the vet here. When I was young, most farmers did their trimming which was almost never. I've seen hoofs so long their toes crossed. So the oldtimers used a chisel and hammer to shorten the hoof.
120k views in 6 hours! But only 14k gave a thumbs up. Why is that? Not only does Graeme do a great service to his bovine patients, he makes it entertaining for the rest of us.
Old Oregon Dairyman
In the 1960s and early 70s, my parents used to take long holidays every year in Argyll , staying in a small family hotel where the eldest son was keen to get into farming. I remember going up to visit them several times, in my early 20s and helping the eldest son with the few Highland cows he had, especially grooming them; I especially remember going up one weekend and was he ever glad to see me as he was prepping a cow and calf, AND a heifer, for a show. The calf was for all the world like a long-legged teddy bear when we were finished with them and for many years my mother had a photo she treasured - not of me, or my dad, but of the calf with the prize rosette on its little halter!
I took my mum (who was by then a widow) up that way in the early 80s, and they were about to put the hotel on the market to help their son who was, at last, getting a farm of his own after several years in farm and estate management. What happy times those were!
They are so beautiful and friendly. Sorka is so much the matriarch in the way she moves and the dignity she expresses. It will be a great loss when she finally passes, she will leave her legacy forever.🥰🥰🥰🥰
Losing my mind at those babby highlands THEY'RE TOO CUTE
What a beautiful calf. I love this bread of cows.
Can you imagine after a hard day going into the calf pen with those cuties, total zen!!!
Love you all, but to see Kevin, I now have to revisit the older content...while still watching all of them. Miss you, Kevin, be well😊!
It's like watching a shaggy rug being winched up in the crush❤ What a beautiful coo
She was so chill too. Those legs just dangling as shes hanging out. No kicking or fussing. She knew you were there to help and enjoyed her pedicure.
I want one of those sweet babies. I know they will get big, but they just seem like they will be the best pets ever.
Ah, the childlike glee on your face when you were in the pen with the calves. You are an amazing guy, Graeme. Love your videos, and i look forward to many more.
What a beautiful animal! I hope I can see one in person someday!
How beautiful is she. What a privilege to work on her and for us to see that beautiful old lady
I’ve watched Kitchen Coos and Ewes for a few years now. Their animals are amazing.
Those short dangly legs are the cutest!!! ❤ What a sweet old girl. So glad you could help her feel better💐😊🇺🇸

Getting her through the crush went much more smoothly than I thought it might!

Your empathy toward these cows shows through, especially when a ‘girlie’ is in major pain.
Keep entertaining us with your humor, your knowledge, and your kindness toward your fellow humans and bovines!

They are so adorable, cute, babies
I love your longer videos. That show the landscape of Scotland and your daily life!
I was amazed the cow got her horns through the crush! Those little ones were way too cute
Aww the wee calves so adorable ❤
She's so beautiful!
Yes thanks for sharing video❤
her little legs swinging as she dangles in the crush made my heart burst, that was so adorable.
I can sympathize with this older lady with cracked feet. Cheers!
his highland 'coos' haha, what a gorgeous animal, so lovely they make it available for everyone to appreciate such beautiful animals -- thankyou

Sorka is a fur ball isn't she? My grandma was Scottish but never said from where. The only thing she ever admitted to was that when she was young in Scotland and played foolball (soccer) her nick name was Dirty Kate. Beautiful country in your videos Teaching is a noble profession.
Thank you so much! Zorka is gorgeous! And the babies are at the end!!!! Absolute delight!
