So the secret tech is to speak English with a heavy Japanese accent. The creators did not have a native English speaker when using the voice input, so they did it themselves.

Walking is not the issue.
The issue is you need to target specific body parts of enemies and QTEs in many parts of a game with little to no ammo or health recovery . Literally can only navigate menus with controller
there being a voice line for teasing the player about taking a shower shows how much fun they were having while making this

Game may have been poorly done, Konami may have paid their English voice actors 50 bucks and gave them no direction/production, and the story was written by 50 chimps with typewriters - but good god was it hilarious watching Connor play it. Thank you.

Honestly, while this game barely functions, I think the idea of voice commands for like an rpg where you are commanding a creature like in pokemon/megami tensei. have like simple commands, the creature follow you with like you able to move with proper controls or something. it could maybe work with modern voice recognition these days
Absolutely, this is way ahead of its time!
With current voice recognition tech this game could actually be made playable (somewhat if you remove the bugs and iron out contextual mistakes).
I wish it were used in a turn based, maybe visual novel-esque game like phoenix Wright and Danganronpa or games like Until Dawn - the action-y shooty bits that everyone loves to shit on.
@@emile_jeanne Fair, I think it could still work fantastic in real time combat, but do like what Final Fantasy 12 and parasite eve do and have the players and enemies on like timer bars where you can request the command after the meter fills up, but to balance it out have the player timer be shorter so they aren't getting turbo screwed like this lol

This was so fun to watch seeing an British man screaming and yelling and doing an American accent and seeing it work instead of his British accent is just gold. Highly recommend seeing the full playthrough

The classic resident-evil style in a spooky space station is kind of neat
I once laughed watching a short clip of a Scottish woman getting frustrated with British Alexa because it couldn't understand her until she used a more British accent. And this made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt. The 1 hour, 19 minutes and 33 seconds I watched were so worth it 🤣😂
Would love to see a remake of this game where the voice recognition isn't awful, or there's a different core gameplay system entirely. Maybe something more like a Resident Evil Remake.
