You should had replaced the first skillet every time switching calibers, because the resistance of the materials got altered, then the experiment is incorrect.
Gotta remember, your cast iron isn't 'secure' it's loose, meaning there will be reverb/recoil when the cast iron is hit. And as others have mentioned, after each shot you need to replace the pans that were damaged.
One of my hobbies is finding old cast iron skillets that aren't warped or abused and restoring them to like new. If you drop a cast iron skillet on a hard surface you can crack it. In my opinion what is happening is that the cast iron has a brittle tension and cracks with sharp edges. I think the bullets once contacting and starting to penetrate the cast iron first skillet let the sharpness of the brakes is shredding the pistol rounds so they're just fragments flying off the second skillet.
It’s a good video but your lack of safety is shocking. You're shooting guns at iron pans without anything protecting you. If one of those shots bounced off the pan wrong you could have accidentally shot yourself. Edit: I want to clarify that even though the chance of him getting injured in this video is low, there is still a possibility. Guns are dangerous (duh) and all it takes is one small mistake to get seriously hurt. It's important that when doing any sort of tests with guns (especially against hard flat surfaces made of concrete, rock, or metal) you minimize the risk of injury as much as possible. It's better to be safe than sorry.
Professor Moyo have you ever shot a gun? Or do you just throw your bullets at the target? Please explain how shooting a target and throwing darts is equal
Its about weight and velocity. Rifle rounds penetrate with speed not weight, and not to mention the first cast iron deforms the bullet. It no longer has a cone tip and will struggle without any weight behind it. Once their speed drops off they can be easily defeated by a durable material. Handgun rounds are slower, but have more mass. Thats why the .500 magnum did the best because it had the most of mass and speed.
You should ALWAYS shoot pans that are new instead of shooting pans with holes in them. Replace the ones with holes with pans from the rear. The pans with holes are compromised (weakened) by previous shots.
I think it's insane to shoot at these cast iron pans with sides that flare out like that. Won't the fragments at some point may find an angle to come back at them or someone closer to them?

On a more accurate note like many mention, do another video with the cast iron properly secure (no movement) & change the cast iron after each round as the integrity of the pan maybe compromise when it was shot before. And please try a 50cal in the next round, will be interesting to know how many it went through. Great Video 👍

I think what you have set up is more of demo of armor designed to have flexibility in order to slow a round or shell down. Terrible. Very poor comparison. Every time a pan is penetrated or hit it weakens it. You should have moved all the the penetrated pans as well as the ones where the bullet stopped to the very back and moved the untouched ones forward. This would be a far better comparison. Just sayin. 👍👍

they wouldve gone through more if it was just a block of cast iron, this had the effect of spaced armor to an extent so the bullets had a harder time penetrating
Your results aren't 100% accurate. Each round would weaken the the pan. Any pan impacted by a round should have been replaced before the next caliber test. The difference may be negligible but, from an experiment perspective replacing impacted pans would give more accurate results. The pans would also need to be stationary. The pans' movement changes the exit velocity and may even prevent penetration.
@@omeganexus5449 it would stop on the first Lasers shooting through metal are extremely ineffective, especially if that metal is shiny Much energy gets refracted and bounced away. And if you want to almost completely render lasers useless, just get a mirror. This is why lasers stay science fiction and aren't used in real world applications for combat. They are only effective if you can keep them on target and firing for long periods of time to transfer enough energy to the material to melt it. The amount of energy it takes to propel solid mass through an object will almost always be less than the amount of energy it takes to melt an object. This is especially true if the target you're trying to melt with a laser is polished tungsten, good luck with that
“Coulda, woulda, shoulda”. This was an excellent video, answering our questions. Looks like 3 stacked together would stop the likely guns that could be used against you. The odds of someone not having the 50 caliber are pretty good. Yes it might have been a tiny bit better if the pans were held by a rigid frame devise., rotated , used twenty or more calibers, but this ,so far appears to be the best video available, and much better than the video that you critical nit picker commenters produced for us.
I once shot a beer bottle 30 feet away with a bb pistol and a piece of glass hit me in the chest. I didnt mind moving as I saw it coming and it didn’t hurt, but I wouldn’t put my trust in a bullet hitting a skillet.
Not saying it couldn't happen, but the skillets are angled upwards and sitting loose, which means they'll tip back even more when struck, driving the reflection angle even higher. My totally inexpert opinion lol
I'm surprised the hollow point went through at all. They're not designed for penetration so much as splaying out and shrapnelling the target's insides.
You demonstrate that an angle reduce considerably the force to penetrate the material. You need to improve the boundaries too, because the can movement, absorbe also the energy
Not if they're standing far enough back. Bullets can only ricochet if the angle isn't too tight. It would be impossible for the force of the bullet to instantly change direction and go straight backwards.
@@boomboom241 I didn't say that the skillets are replaced. All the bullets were hitting skillets without missing that's why I said he is professional shooter or edited the part when bullet didn't hit the skillets
I'll admit I have no idea how to understand everything he's talking about, but that is really interesting, and pretty cool, too! And they were sure having fun without being dangerous. It would be great if this kind of activity was what everyone was doing with these weapons instead of shooting at other people.
Test could be a lot more accurate if skillets were not reused once damaged and all of them were at the same angle, not to mention shootin' distance. But Enjoy!!
So many mouth breathing armchair critics who don't understand that a cast iron skillet's integrity isn't compromised much by being penetrated in that way. 🤣

@Raider Games I'm against NATO allowing the Ukrain to join. I'm against NATO, not listening to Russian concerns that it is ever encroaching closer to Russian, and Russia considers it a threat, as NATO was created to counter Russia, and in 91 there was an agreement that after Germany joined NATO that it would not continue to expand Eastward. Looking for the bullets as if they didn’t shatter into pieces.
they wouldve gone through more if it was just a block of cast iron, this had the effect of spaced armor to an extent so the bullets had a harder time penetrating
You could rotate some of the rear skillets forward to avoid hitting the same holes over again.
You're right. The inclination also changes the trajectory preventing another penetration. We can see how the slug hit sideways and can't go through.
Josh Gagnier who cares it's just for fun.

Lasers shooting through metal are extremely ineffective, especially if that metal is shiny
Much energy gets refracted and bounced away.

Yes it might have been a tiny bit better if the pans were held by a rigid frame devise., rotated , used twenty or more calibers, but this ,so far appears to be the best video available, and much better than the video that you critical nit picker commenters produced for us.

love the interaction you have with your camera man
He has all those pans... I'd love to see what the later guns he used would do to a fresh pan instead of shooting the same 3 the whole time
Leaving the pubg pan aside im amazed with ur aiming skills💥
The guy is a good Shor! Very consistent
I would be too afraid of ricochet to even bother firing. I’m not going to be a Darwin Award winner today
Exactly what I was thinking.
Glasses, you'll be fine. This is low quantity iron which absorbs impact energy.

I'm surprised the hollow point went through at all. They're not designed for penetration so much as splaying out and shrapnelling the target's insides.
Never never never shoot iron target ! That is Darwin award waiting to happen. Only steel.
Better to move the used skillets to the back, and the ones in the back to the front each time. Then, you can have more accurate results.

You demonstrate that an angle reduce considerably the force to penetrate the material.
You need to improve the boundaries too, because the can movement, absorbe also the energy
What baffles me is you thought that these rounds would annihilate cast iron!
The fact that they know its ricocheting and still shooting is insane
I was gonna say the same thing 🤨🤨😯😯😲😲😳😳😳😬😬😬
Doesn't the angle of the skillets make sure that the ricochet will go up?
And hilarious
Not if they're standing far enough back. Bullets can only ricochet if the angle isn't too tight. It would be impossible for the force of the bullet to instantly change direction and go straight backwards.
You can see the bullets fragmenting after penetrating, so i would be very worried about a few pieces coming back......essays are loco.
Does anyone not notice how this guys aim is like 100% on point.

PAN SHOT! PAN SHOT! PAN SHOT!
But Enjoy!!
Could have easily rotated the damaged skillets to the back and put the new ones up front.

I don't support Putin or the war but I think NATO did everything they could to help kick it off.
@Raider Games No,I mean, they were going to let Ukrain join. Putting an enemy Organization or Russias border. Russia, a nation that had been invaded twice last century in two world wars.
You "wake" up this morning with really good aim 😂! - Gasparitto -
Also, it should be the distance that each bullet has reached its maximum velocity. Plus, what others have said, replacing the damaged pans -- and at least having a sand bag wall with a shooting slot. Other than that: cool.
I think to have a more legit test you should continually switch out the pans that have already been shot that way we all can see how clean the shots are from zero.
Agreed. Plus the loss of integrity in the damaged front pans could possibly confuse the findings.
Plus the shot before weakens the pan
And also shoot from the same distance with all guns. It’s like an experiment with no control lo
And why hollow points?
Plus he shoulda been shoting the pan on the other side to be more applicable to whats in the game.
