What do you think about this new 24-50 f/2.8 from Sony? 🤔

I like 24-50mm lens. But i love my PZ 16-35mm lens on my ZVE1. i Could not let this lens go when i use it on Dynamic active stab - really stable yet still wide. I have paired my PZ with Sony 50mm f2.8 macro and now i have a great combo from 16mm to 50mm for my daily shoot of ultrawide, bokeh, lowlight and macro shots. The combo is much more versatile.

That’s a fantastic combo - I like your thinking. Also love my 16-35 PZ. Paired with a slightly tighter prime. Winner ⚡️ Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Im not a Sony user but still watched ! The past year or so Ive been a Prime lens user mainly. I love my 27mm and 35mm prime on my FujiFilm. I do still have my ‘kit lens’ 18-55mm and really does it all. The image quality I can’t tell much between all the lenses but maybe im abit strange that the lens and camera combo also has to look good!

I'm with you. The feel and look really adds to the experience. For me, especially when shooting more 'street'm style things it matters more. I feel like I go in waves between primes and zooms. Maybe a 20-40 wouldn't feel just quite as nice as my 40 on its own... ;)

I find it very interesting to combine with the Sony a7cr. The possibility of cropping in APSC format and still maintaining a large amount of Mpx, the 50mm becomes a 75mm and would thus cover the entire focal range of the 24-70.

    • @HannahYoungPhotography
      @HannahYoungPhotography  2 месяца назад +1

The crop factor really does double power up the versatility of this lens. Love that mpx count on the a7cR 💥

Did you try the Sigma 28-70 2.8? Looks like a good pair to have a compact zoom with the A7CII. Im about to give my jump to FF with the A7CII and thats the lens i have in mind, would love yo hear your feedback!

Hey. Thanks for watching. I've never tried the Sigma 28-70 myself. Watched a couple of videos on it and it seems to get pretty good reviews, also looks like it would pair nicely with the A7cII. I hope you enjoy the camera and FF. I absolutely love it...

Love the vid! I was gonna comment about the Tamron 20-40 2.8 and it being slightly smaller, but someone beat me to it. Lol
I’s kinda ironic that this showed up on my feed, as I’m on my way home from JUST buying the 24-70 GM II!! Was thinking about this lens, but I’ve got a HS Graduation and a 1st time trip to the mountains and I just couldn’t pass up on my first GM lens!! (A fellow α7C II & α7CR shooter.) 😊😊📸

Thanks so much for watching. And wow - your trip sounds awesome. The mountains are my favourite.... I'm sure you will have a blast with the new lens too. Always nice to hear from a fellow a7c shooter. How do you find the comparison between the r & the mkii?
Haven't had the best experience with Tamron in the past. But never say never again....

    • @GINOxRED

      @@HannahYoungPhotography no probs!
The biggest difference I noticed is the processing between shots. That 60 megapixel readout is noticeably slower, but not terrible. Video is more on par than I originally thought, but definitely prefer the mkii for video-only because I like the 1.5 crop for 4K60 over the 1.2 for r (it’s weird, but I’m used to the 1.5). It really is how some have said: mkii is better at video, and the r is better for photo.
I haven’t either since I usually go for OEM, but just like you said, never say never.

Thank you. I actually own the new FE 24-50/2.8 G and both the A7CII and A7CR. The play really nice together for walking around and travel. I own larger/heavier full size Sony bodies like the A1 plus battery grip and A7RV and on those I use the larger FE 24-70/2.8 GM II and other larger primes and zooms and I’m very happy with the smaller G. Prior to getting it I also used the Sigma 28-70/2.8 DG DN Contemporary that is heavier but still only 490 grams but I wanted the G’s image quality and aperture ring and other G/GM features. Think I will also get the new FE 16-25/2.8 G to pair with it. Have you looked at that one? If you have let me know what you think. Take care.

    • @HannahYoungPhotography

Thanks Steve 🙏🏻 I’m really hooked on the G/GM features too. I’ve really got my eyes on that 16-25. It looks super nice. For me personally it’d be a great focal length for a lot of things and give that 2.8 rather than the f/4 I currently have on my 16-35. And then use my primes like 40 for anything above the 25mm. Love to hear your thoughts if you do end up picking it up….

@@HannahYoungPhotography I’m definitely going to get the 16-25/2.8 G. I bought the small 16-35/4 PZ G used from a close friend when he left Sony but the PZ feature just wasn’t for me but I don’t shoot video. I’m sure the f/4 had something to do with it but I owned a Canon 16-35/4L but i remember it having IS as well which I don’t think the Sony PZ has.

I've owned Tamron lenses previously and never really enjoyed using them. However, as you say they do have the 'dream' focal length. Perhaps have improved since I last used them. Thanks for watching :)
