i been into audio electronics for over 40 years and to this day, wood ALWAYS sounds better than plastic. always
Bên việt nam fbt xlite 112a thích hơn đây xpro. Vì giá ré hơn mà nghe tiếng sáng hơn
Hey there u will not know me but i do know u u helped me set up my music mixer 11 years ago and now in a proffesional mixing guy Thank you so much for helping me
I had a feeling the “wood” be much warmer before you demonstrated. Thanks for sharing Brian!
A short , clear and to the point review and ... wood wins again 👍Thanks Brian !
Even though it is recorded on a phone, i can hear the difference. I listened to this on my phone, then went to my tablet, then through good headphones. I'd love to hear these in person, because if I can hear that through a RUclips video, in person would be much more noticeable. Thanks for the video BSR, I'll look at FBT for my next speaker .
Different materials resonate some frequencies more efficiently. The bass was hitting harder. Love the FBT Pro X.🔊🎶💕
Dear Sir thank you so much for this amazing professional video. I like the way you put in your time to bring out such a beautiful video. I will like to say that the sound coming out from the both speakers is unbelievable. Thank you
Great informative video! Thank y for sharing... Wood vs Plastic, if you can lift easy go for wood, if you want slightly lighter weight go plastic. The sound difference is very minimal to almost unnoticeable. Also for home use go wood, for outdoors and going places plastic is slightly better due to slight ruggedness.
Pro & Cons to both, I'm a wood passive tops and powered sub guy.
Hi Brian, it's great to see a FBT review. I've used FBT in one form or another since 2006, starting with the Maxx range.
If you take a closer look it should say "Made in Italy" on the X-Pro and "Made in China" on the X-Lite. That being said I've had no issues with X-Lite stuff at all, really great sounding, although the warmth of those X-Pros is top notch :-) I wonder what the X-Pros sound like crossed over, with a sub ?
I picked up a pair of the x-lite 12a's plus a pair of the x-sub 15a's during COVID as a "cheap" system that was compact and quick to set up and break down. After the first 2 gigs I haven't used anything else, they are magic for their price point, and really punch above their weight.
I currently have a pair of the 12as, 4 x-subs and 2 10 inch tops for ceremonies.
How do you like fbt x pro sub 15 so far ?
Hey Brian, thank you for the review. Appreciate it. From Japheth in South Africa.
I have the X-Lites and as a mobile DJ would never consider the X-Pro for a number of reasons.
1. ABS is a lot tougher than wood. Mobile DJing means constant setups/breakdowns and ABS is far more resistant to that.
2. Wood absorbs moisture. Recently you posted a video of a speaker that had got wet. ABS doesn't care. Wood freaks out.
3. The difference in sound is negligible. Generally your audience couldn't care less, and in blind testing, you'd battle to notice the difference.
4. The difference in weight and the handles make a BIG difference to a mobile DJ. Less weight is always welcome. More handles, same.
The FBT X-Lite 12's are great speakers, far better than the JBL EON 612's (sold, as they simply didn't compare to the FBTs) and I can handle 99% of my events without a subwoofer.
". Wood absorbs moisture. Recently you posted a video of a speaker that had got wet. ABS doesn't care. Wood freaks out"
So do paper-cone bass drivers, unless they're properly treated. I've lost two 12" drivers in QSC K12.2 ABS cabinets due to I believe moisture softening the cone and causing it to fail at the triple joint.
I closed my eyes and could tell when you switched I enjoyed the bass output better of the wood cabinet it seamed crisper to me.
Always loved the wooden cabinet sound!!
Could'nt tell the differences between the wood cabinet & the ABS, but since I have a bad back, I'll go with the ABS 👍
Brian you just might be ahead of the next trend for music listening purists , back to wooden cabinets for slightly better sound.
Really should have played some Steely Dan there..
It's getting harder & harder to not get flagged for content
The wood sounds great
Wood is always better. I love my Mackie DRM Series 212 & 215 for that reason. Better bass response and warmer sound. Clearer at louder levels. SPL is 133 to 134 db. 1600 watts. Its a no brainer & still not to heavy to carry or move. I love them. The only other speakers i would own personally are the Mackie SRM-V series but they are plastic with Bluetooth capability. Plenty of power for larger events.
Nice comparison, with the Lite tho, it feels like you'd want the sub and the Pro you could get away without it. Side note, dunno if its just the garage's lights, but you look like noticeably better on screen, hope you're feeling good.
hi brian
i like the speakers i will put them on my list to get at some point
great info , have a great week
take care
nice info. im currently planning to reinforce a cabinet with concrete on the insides since its volume is a bit to large for my new drivers.
In my head this concrete surely would sound 'better' then just the original cabinet considering the mass but im doubting if that truly is the case since it does not seem like a very populair mod when its rather easy to do.
When I was demoing speakers, I thought the wood speakers sounded slightly better but for the weight difference, I went with abs.
I really like FBT, but I disagree with only having ONE handle on the PRO. On a 12" or larger Speaker Cabinet. even at 35 to 40 lbs, these speakers should have a top handle, and preferably 3 handles total. My Alto TS312 Speakers have FIVE HANDLES and Iove the cabinet design. I listened through my SONY Bluetooth Head Phones and the Pro definitely sounds better with the Bass.
The wooden cabinet sounds warmer
A week ago I had an event, to get more bass I left the 15 inch plastic JBLs on the stage, turned up the volume and magically they started dancing, like a ballerina in a music box... I thought whoever was going to sing had moved them, but no... So how do they act on our tripods... Greetings...
Great as usual Brian, I had the same doubt! certainly the weight is something to consider but in this case the difference isn't so much! I'm wondering if the sound is comparable to to FBT JMAXX 14 .
FBT JMAXX muy superior calidad y spl
Jamàs X inferior a Jmaxx
14 y
Promaxx 114a saludos
Wooden cab for the win
Totally agree. Always wood cabinets!! Way better sound.
My thinking is, if you pair with a sub, the wooden cabinets advantages are not audible. Do you agree?
I'd hear it
The wooden version sounds so much better in the bass region than the ABS version that I'm wondering if you were running different EQ settings on them :-).
Nope, I changed nothing. Just was turning them up & down but both were on the same channel, so EQ didn't change at all & used the same DSP settings on both speakers
thanks for the video, helped me a lot to decide
Excellent video
Thanks For The review. How would you compare With EV EKX 12p.
Wood cabinets still have a better resonance than molded composites.
Yes again this video is a big big help to me thank you Dear Sir for this great infomative video. Bravo to you
Nice video Brian. Did you mention the price of these?
No I didn't even look
The X-pro sounds good as sound
Yeah I like the wooden spesker cabinet because its much more durable than plastic.unlike plastic it easily gets scuffs and scratches. For now I'd go with plastic speaker cabinet because the weight is ligther. people don't rreally know the difference, its only mobile djs who notices it. A bit of an insight, the world use metric system which is often 1=100. USA is the only country I know which uses imperial. We use liter and kilos. 1gram to 1000kg is equals to 1kilo. We actually use both imperial and metric measurements
I'm thinking to buy them
Wood is good!
Fbt is a great brand I have the Fbt promaxx 14a lite powerful 14inch woofer 😮
Probably only way will know the difference is with an ata microphone being tuned the same sound identical in this recording unless you have supersonic hearing
As a DJ, i learn that Drunk people don´t ear the difference...and my back always suffer much more less....
i agree !!!!
Great video!
I’ve recently bought a pair of Mackie Thump 212, as a replacement for a pair of FBT Jolly 12a that were stolen, and I was very disappointed. They play loud as hell, but the bass is so boomy that I can’t bear to listen to them. I’m going to send them back to the shop and I am considering getting the FBT X-Pro 112a.
I’ve been through a lot of reviews of the Mackies, but everyone just praised them, so I might be picky. Can you say anything about how precise or sharp the bass is on the FBT? When you say “warmer” I got worried that it might not be as crisp as I’d like it.
Just buy fbt. Quality is on another level compared to mackie
@@francescog53550
I did, and my god you are right!!! 😳
@@hoffmannMP told ya :)
Cool ! Thanks !
Can u say the name\model of stand with white legs ?
I think the wood cabinet could back off the bass eq a little bit. I wonder how a vocal track sound between the two. I think the wood will be better since you could back off the bass and get a flatter sound. With the plastic your just out of luck even if you want more bass =).
Nice review
Series lite & x pro assemblate in Italia ma costruite in cina
The single handle was one of the things I hated about the EV EKX-12P cabs I had. Horrible design for portable cabs.
🎉❤
Could you review the FBT X-SUB 118SA?
It’s a good sounding sub but quite average. nothing special
Pro sounded much better.
when you've got wood.....
you've got wood.
Yeah... 1 Pound counts 0,5 Kilos ...so Always rhe Double in pounds for you
God blasyou
