You set your depth and keep it. A click at a time makes your cut depth deeper and deeper but your board is always flat and your arms drop. If you keep clicking, you going to actually set your depth too deep for your job and end up damaging the wood - or even worse, the blade- So, find a good depth for the piece of lumber you are cutting and keep it there.
I have one. They are great planers. I used mine to shave down a butcher block. I have to cut it down 3/4" and did that make a lot of chippings ! The last time I remodeled this old house, I had a 2 x 4 that was really bowed. Rather than replace the 2 x 4 I just planed down the high side so the wall was true. When I saw a contactor use one I knew I had to have one. It's one of the best tools in my collection, worth every penny. Good video, Barry
Just so there is no confusion, you don't have to continue to increase the depth of the cut. This will only increase the amount of material you take with each pass. This should be determined by how hard the planer is struggling depending on the hardness of the wood. You should also have two hands on the planer. Start with more force on the front of the planer, end with more on the rear to decrease snipe.
Good review, I just bought one. That black plastic piece in the back is the kick stand for the tool. It lifts the tool. I use it for placing the tool on the bench when not in use.
Good video, lovely piece of Walnut that is, what l do is take out the blade and just round of the corner of the blade, only a tiny bit, then it doesn't leave lines in the wood,
Thanks for the review, pls make the review the one that wireless, and another video comparison between both of them, thinking about to get one, not sure the wireless or not,
I think you mean cordless; that means batteries that need to be recharged and later go bad on you; I preferred the corded unit; thanks for watching!! wish you the best.
good question; my plane is still really new and so I do not know about sharpening or replacing them? But: Thanks for watching and have a great Thanksgiving week.
I picked up a used one of these for 60 bucks in excellent used condition. Even came with it's own metal carrying box. Ragged out the blades today though.
about the only thing i ever used an electric planer for was building new exterior door thresholds, so i gave it away--now i need to replace thresholds in MY old house--i am going to find a cheap one if i can....nice review!
Great video, I have been thinking about purchasing a planer but thought I should look into hand planers before I drop 300-500 on a larger 12-13" planer. I think this my be a great option for me. It might take a little longer, but looks like that will do everything I need and more for a fraction of the price. Really appreciate your review!

Do the blades require sharpening, or so you just purchase new ones.

You can sharpen them and they’ll last a very very long time. The Bosch units use carbide blades that chip easily and get costly to replace constantly.
Damn who has friends that just drop off black walnut boards lol that stuff is pricey I'm a bit jealous lol

Not sure; I have never used a joiner. Thanks for watching!
