Thanks for all you and crew do. I purchased a Metabo impact 18 volt on your advice.Keep the tool reviews and products you use weekly.
To make a shallower bevel you'll need to realign the depth of the blades using the supplied gauge. From the factory they all seem set far too aggressive for anything but really rough framing
I have the corded version of the Dewalt planer. I used it many time to take a bow out of a 2 x 4 wall stud. I put mine on maximum cut and boy.....does it make short order of the job and lots of wood chips. I'm now looking into getting a cordless hand planer.
They work great. Good video. Thanks for posting it.

Sorry bud question for you... do u find that it does a bevel each time it you pass.. it never planes just dead straight???
Maybe a video of how to change the blades. Great video as always.
Speaking from experience. You should be removing the battery when touching the blades. Watched a coworker take the tips of his fingers off while using my planer. Then had to clean up the tool & area After driving home to hospital.
Like someone else said that's a kick stand in the back of machine NOT a depth gage, if you'd like to rest the machine blade down it'd rest on that little plastic tab
That's a kickstand not a depth gauge
2:47 that’s a kickstand and o pretext the blade when setting it down. It’s definitely not a depth gauge lol
I had 1. Worked good for a year then died
Got a Makita. And this 1 is amazing
I really want to move to canada just to work for you / with you. lol. I love your work
Hi Dr. Decks, How much height variation do you allow between joist heights from joist to joist using composite decking?
I’m restoring my deck and I have a mix of old (already shrunk) and new. Any advice on dealing with future shrinkage and current height differences and humps etc? Thanks and love your channel!
tommy smalls that’s a tough question. When adding new joists to old ones, the new ones will shrink but you need to install them so either you “predict” what the framing is going to do or you deal with it after the shrinkage happens.
What's the name of the tool belt you use? It looks well made
They're called Diamondback Toolbelts. - DJSM
Does it trim fingernails?
Yes, and you'll never have to trim them again. Maybe now you can stop asking this inane question in every planer review. I've probably looked at a dozen reviews in the last week and there you are with the same question in each one. Injuries are not funny.
