Today we are reviewing the DEWALT 15 Amp 13 in. Corded Planer
    3-year limited manufacturer warranty
    Material removal gauge
    Extra large turret depth stop
The 13 in. thick Corded Planer from DEWALT provides excellent surface finish with a 3-knife cutter head that delivers a 30% longer knife life and makes changing them out more seamless. Its powerful 15 Amp, 20,000 RPM (10,000 RPM cutter head speed) motor executes 96 or 179 cuts per in. for a quick and efficient solution. It handles larger cuts in wider materials with ease.
19-3/4 in. cast aluminum base that is 2x more rigid than a standard 10 in. base and folding tables
2-speed gear box that allows users to change the feed speed for optimal cuts of the particular material with which you're working
Fan-assisted chip ejection vacuums that chips off of the cutter head and exhausts them out of the machine
Automatic carriage lock that reduces the movement that causes snipe
Extra large thickness scale that delivers accurate cuts with every pass
Extra large turret depth stop that allows you to return to your most frequently used thicknesses with ease
    UL listed

Video was great! Voice over very informative. I'm getting ready to buy a planer and you answered my questions. I appreciate all the hard work you put into this video. The music? No, nope, caused me anxiety. What? No I'm not crying. That's sawdust!

3 years later….did you save the money up yet? If not you could do like me and just buy it with your grocery money, then boil the wood chips it makes….I’m telling ya a little salt and sugar and it’s darn close to steel cut oats 😃

I just bought one with the mobile stand and in/out feed extensions. My first project was some glued up cedar that was a little less than flat. Ran it through and it came out perfectly flat and smoothe as could be. My only regret is that I wish I had more material to send though. It is so enjoyable to use!

Nice video, I purchased one just the other day, however, it would benefit those who have not used one before, to see how you will go about adjusting the planer for a given piece of work, walk them through, step by step.
    Thank you !!

Good vid. I've had this DeWalt planer for two years and it works to my satisfaction . I think you were referring to the "feeder shelves" not a folding table as I was confused at what you were trying to explain. I will say, you have to keep it cleaned out especially if you are running a lot of coniferous wood as the sap will build up on the rollers and blades but it's easy to keep clean. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year.

Yeah, home depot and Amazon has them listed as folding tables, but either or I need a set. Thanks for the comment and happy new year William!

I used a two staged dust collection and run the second suction unit. The motor of the 735 heated up and eventually quit working. I rebuilt the motor with new armature and field also known as a stater with new brushes ran it for only hour and a half and again the motor heated up and fried. Is running the two stag blower causing the planer motor to heat and burn? Over two hundred bucks spent and now I'm without any knowledge of what went wrong. Any input ?

Just got a Dewalt 735x and it had a double crack on the corner of the base. I've seen this same complaint before. Don't know if it's a production issue , or poor packaging, or if it's too heavy for the UPS person and they dropped it , or what, but it's being sent back. I could see that the box had been opened before and resealed rather sloppily, so I guess someone else had already returned it before they sent it to me. I'm really disappointed and leery about ordering another one. Larry Long

Tool Review Zone I have that setup and actually set it up on the DeWALT Heavy Duty Miter Saw Stand DWX723. I replaced the standard supports with the large rollers. I own one and after having some problems planing cherry I cleaned the bed and rollers and ran the cherry through it and still had burn marks. I reduced the depth of the cut but it helped very little after a few passes the dewalt would trip the breaker. I at this point I am not a big fan of it.

  • @barkingshark6413

Good video…. However if you get the in feed and out feed tables and (adjust them) correctly, you will NOT have snipe on either end.. I ended up buying a WEN planer stand on Amazon for $160. It’s well worth it and has adjustable extension rollers on both ends.

    • @ToolReviewZone
      @ToolReviewZone  5 лет назад

Have to be honest Noel, haven't tried the older model, but with the folding tables on this, it helps a lot if you run the wood in with a bit of a slant. Almost eliminated the snipe after doing that

Genuine effort- A huge red flag is the lack of safety: planning anything on a folding table is extremely dangerous bordering on madness, & having long sleeves near something with auto feed can lead to an extraordinarily lifelong hand injury-- there was a gentleman that lost his hand due to an auto feeder on a machine: his screams could be heard for miles

Any issues with overheating and popping the built in breaker? I returned the first one due to that issue and bought a second one thinking I had a defect. The second one also overheats on me after running several 6ft boards of 3.5 in pine. It's very frustrating that it pops the breaker after several passes. This occurs even with removing only 1/64 at a time.

Manuel Felix its not the machine brother.....gotta have it plugged into its own outlet...with nothing else drawing from the outlet and use no more than a 50 foot cord with a 12 gauge cord......in between a really fat cord 10 gauge...and a regular thin cord 14 gauge....you'll plane all day
