- In this woodworking tools tips video, I'll answer the question, "Are electric hand planers any good?". I'll also walk you through the basics of electric hand planers. You'll learn how to used an electric hand planer for beginners. I will teach you how to adjust and install blades. I'll discuss woodworking safety when using a hand planer and I'll also talk about all the basic parts of a hand planer.
There are a lot of things you can do with a hand planer like this. You can join two boards together, fix a sticking door, make chamfer cuts and even flatten glued up panels. I'll give some examples of this in my video.

I’m a new remodeling contractor. Just discovered your channel and watched 4 in a row! Table saw out feed was 1st vid I watched (took notes), and I’m hooked! Great content and love the comedy on this video!! I shared it with my buddies. Great job! I’m buying your plans and Makitas Planer. Thanks for the link!! 👍
Awesome! Thank you!
You are a natural on video! Keep them coming and I’m sure the subscribers will come. Thanks for the info.
Ha! Definitely not. I actually started my channel to get over my fear of being on camera. Thank you.
U are right on true about sharpening the blade of the plane .. its a skill itself .
Oh man... I've been trying to master it for a while. Mine is pretty sharp but still not how I would like it.
I support your channel! Your videos are awesome, keep at it!!!
Thanks!
Great video, learned a lot!!!
Thanks!
Great video! My electric hand plane is a lifesaver when hanging doors.
I also completely agree that it is better to think of the electric hand plane and manual hand plane as completely different tools instead of one just an electric version of the other.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Great video dude! Makes me want to get one!
They are pretty nice. I really don't use it enough. Part of the reason I made this video was to learn more about it and get better at using it.
Great explainer. I’d love to see a jointer jig video.
I'll add that to my list! Thanks for watching.
Thanks, great intro to hand planers. I would love to see a jointer jig.
I may do this. With my small shop it would be nice to have.
Me too!!
I use them for flattening slabs. You can plane is any direction and its faster than using a router sled 👍
I've done that with glue ups as well. Thanks for the comment!
I have used both hand planer and electric planer. Until my hand planer blade was sharp enough, it was fun using it and listening the buttery wood chirping sounds that hand planer make... 😊 But the electric planer would make loud noise and my mom would yell😂😂😂
At last i concluded hand wood planers are best to use at home..
Hahaha. Definitely, in that case.
great!
Thank you!
❤❤❤ super 👍
Thanks!
I would like to see someone make a comparison between those router sleds and a planer sled
Compare results
Compare efficiency
And even Compare whatever differences in technique is needed to gain best results
For me, the first time I saw the router sled, I was wondering why the person did not use an electric hand planer.
Maybe there was a good reason I am unaware of
Hmmm. That would be interesting.
Good video but it is not an "either-or" situation. If one has lots of real rough lumber to prepare the electric is a great tool then followed up by hand for the final touch.
I agree. I just felt like this was a fun way to sort of discuss the differences. Thanks for the comment.
Can this electric planer do the job of a hardwood floor sander?
No. This is much too small and can remove material very quickly. You definitely want to rent a floor sander for that.
Thinking about this channel… I have 2 major issues. 1) You haven’t made enough videos yet. Actually you unlikely to ever get there. 2) You haven’t set up a patreon page. Please correct these issues asap so I can provide my best support for your channel.
Hahaha. I'll work on fixing those. You actually can become a member of my channel through RUclips if you want to show your support. I love hearing this. My subscribers motivate me and keep me going. Already working on my next script.

my problem with the hand planers is that there is nothing out of the box ready to use. you have to tune em and cost for getting the material to tune them is high.
Ya, they definitely need some tweaking. Thanks for the comment!
