- Show how to change the blades or set knife depth on the DeWalt power hand planer model number D26676. This may or may not be helpful for other Dewalt powered hand planers, but I hope it helps someone save hours researching this process.
Thank you for watching :)

This is the same exact process for the newer cordless planers with the thinner carbide blades. Only difference is those are reversible so I don’t believe you get a sharpening jig but I might be wrong. Great vid! Thanks so much!
Great video. Thanks for the detailed instructions for using the gauge. I just could not have figured it out from the manufacturer instructions.
You're right! Dewalt's instructions for this SUCK!!
I couldn't find anything either!!!!!
I searched and searched! Thank you for the video!
Thanks for the instructions. Saved me some head scratching and a couple of hours.
Any chance you could use a combo square or tape to measure the depth that depth guage sets thr blades to? Lost mine immediately after opening the box and need to set my new blades 😬
Thank you showing how to use blade gauge your the first showing how it is done
so glad I found you video. The instructions that come with the tool may as well be written in chinese and not be any more confusing.
all dewalt instruction manuals are as worst as it could be composed, diagram page is far away from the instruction page, and all written in confusing grammar
I have the cordless and love it. The instructions are pretty clear. No reason to take the plate off. Also, my knives are carbide which are reversible. Only takes a few minutes to change out. Ditch the tool..use a driver.
Thanks, it is also applicable to the battery operated version (DCP580N). This is really useful as the manual is very low on detail 🙏🥇
I’m going to grab one of those Dewalt planers at times I don’t want to hand plane everything, I have all the sharpening stones I need to keep the blades sharp, thanks.
Thanks for this
My blades need to be Sharpened or Changed out and this Vid will guide me in doing so.
Good video - much appreciated!!
My blades are dull already. I purchased my dewalt this morning. Used it for about an hour. Can I use a hand held belt sander to sharpen the blades? What grit?
That was really useful - thanks
Great helpful video.
Great video thanks 👍🏻
Hi just invested in new dewalt brushless planer ... blade blew off on first pass on some softwood ! crazy ... must have been a fault with tool
Waiting replacement but would be useful if I could find a video on changing blades as the instructions in the manual are rubbish
THANKS BUDDY
Thanks buddy
Thank you
excellent. although the factory installed blades are near-impossible to loosen :(
yeah, the factory tool is useless against the super tight bolts. Have to use a wrench.
thank you my friend, saved my marriage as my wife was already mad on how much time i took to shave these cabinets down
thank you i like it----gracias me gusto
great video !! :)
You need to nip the side the blades off so the planes doesn't gouge your work peace if tilted. The blades are wider than the guide.
Are you really supposed to cut them? I noticed the carbide inserts are longer then the drum
@@michaelcarton3299 that's what the pros do.
I wish the manual would mention that
The video is dark and I can't see the way stuff is put together. Was given the planner and these pieces were missing. Had to buy them now I have no clue how to put it all back together. 😭😭😭😭HELP!!!
Impact wrench makes it ez to take the 3 screws out
Thanks, great tutorial. I love this tool...but the instructions are not the best. And I get what Mrkfq269 is talking about...the blades that come with it dull super fast...even on simple soft wood jobs.
My dad says thankyou
Wtf. Why are you taking the shoe off to change the blades. You need the shoe to reference the blade height.
ive never taken the plate off, do you know what your doing? i just want a guage
Jeez! This is like watching paint dry!
it's not a housing.. it's the drum. You kept confusing me when you called it a housing.
Also, you need more closeup views.
Why would you use a drill to tighten not required very clumsy
While this video could have been helpful, i cant see what this tab and this tab differemces are. Perhaps some close ups ao we can see properly. Disappointed. Try again
