four plus years ago and BAM!!! WINNNER!!! Been fighting this door latch issue since we moved into our place. Always thought to attack from the bottom...not the top. FREAKING WORKS!!! I BROKE A HD paint stirrer in half and shoved it btw the frame and counter. Freaking WORKS!

Pafnuty and Howard have it right. The shim size is customized to work for your particular machine. Glad this simple solution is helping people!

This fixed my dishwasher! My kid broke the door by falling on it while open a couple years back. We’ve been using a piece of wood to jam the door up from the bottom while cycling since it would pop open mid cycle. I put a few fibreboard shims up there in the space under the counter and it stays latched closed! No more silly board to jam it closed. Thanks!

This dishwasher has been driving me crazy. I even called Bosch while it was still under warranty. Their customer service is terrible. I am going home and trying this tonight. Thank you for your help.

Thank you. I have it sitting out on the floor and was fussing with it. Who knew to simply put it back under the counter and shim it? You did!

Hi Thank you for the fix you showed us, I have had a "repair man " here to replace the latches and he had no clue to look at the sad or space as described in your Video. So thank you this trick was the success I was looking for

Thank-You! This fixed my door. The way this door latch is designed leaves something to be desired. In my case a snug side to side fit and a humid (New England) year caused the dw cabinet to bow slightly upwards and cause the issue. It took just slightly less than an 1/8" shim to bring the latch back into the correct adjustment. This will vary as it is dependent on the amount of space over the dw cabinet. As already noted in another reply, overdoing it will cause the door to stick and be tough to open.

GREAT Video . used a 1/2 small block of wood and the door works perfect.

Tried your solution and then I could not get the door opened! Put in a smaller shim and then I can open it but my wife can't! Went to an even smaller shim and now I am eating regularly.
You just need a very small amount of pressure to fix the problem. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Don't be so critical of someone trying to just help others out. I don't get anything out of making these videos. If you can follow the picture, that is what matters.
