Watched your video, ordered part, and fixed the dishwasher. It saved me a bunch of money. I'm a girly girl with not much handy man experience and was not sure I would be able to complete. But, I did. Just wanted to say thanks for posting your video. It saved me from having to buy a new dishwasher.

Thank you so much! You saved me from paying for a very expensive visit from a repairman. All I had to buy was a $30 part. So easy to do this myself after viewing your very helpful video.

Didn't exactly describe my dishwasher, but gave enough info to assist in changing the door latch on my model.

The door on my Bosch SHE68M05UC/50 dishwasher won't close, so it won't start a wash cycle. The door hinges and strike look OK, and I don't see any obvious problems with any of the gaskets or mounting clips, or anything else that would prevent the door from closing properly.
This particular model is very similar to the one in this video, so I watched it and a couple of others, and successfully removed the door latch assembly for inspection. I found that the latch appeared to be stuck in the locked position. It took some effort, but I was able to unlock it by carefully studying how it worked and rotating the "catch" to what I think is the unlocked position. I also removed the switch, and found nothing obvious wrong. I'm sure there are continuity tests that could be done to see if it's operating properly, but I don't know how that would be done exactly. I also removed the child safety latch, which I don't believe would cause any problems with the operation of the main latch. I put everything back together (minus the child lock), and was able to run two wash loads with no problems. But a couple of days ago, I tried to start another load, and the door won't close again, same symptoms as before.
I could use some help with this, and have a couple of questions:
    1. What's causing the door to lock, if that's actually what's happening?
    2. How do I do continuity tests on the switch? I see three prongs (marked 1, 2 and 4), and a button on top that changes position depending on whether the latch is locked or unlocked. There are lines on the body of the switch from the different prongs, but I don't know what they mean. I do have a digital meter and know the basics, but I'm no expert by any means.
As far as I can tell, the correct part numbers for the latch and switch are:
    Latch - 00604217
    Switch - 00187205
There's one other symptom that might mean something, or not... When I try to start a load when the door is locked and won't close, I push the ON/OFF button on top of the control panel and sometimes hear a strange swishing/clicking noise from inside the panel. Some of the lights on top of the panel will sometimes light up for just a second, and the front display will come on and stay on until I push the ON/OFF button again.
I would appreciate any help anybody could give me.

      Just a quick update...
I found another RepairClinic video on YT that explained how to test the switch. Basically, one terminal is common, one of the others is normally closed, the last is normally open. My switch tested OK, so I cleaned the terminals, was able to unlock the latch again (possibly differently than last time, I'm not sure), put everything back together and ran a load of dishes. So far, so good.
None of this explains why the door locked in the first place, or why it locked again after I thought I fixed it the first time. Maybe we pushed the door closed too hard (it's possible)?
      Anybody have any thoughts?

Thanks guys. I did a temporary fix by removing the yellow arm completely from the old latch. This prevents the child lock from operating at all. I would like to use the new door latch but would need to refit the yellow arm which is why photos of the other side of the latch would be useful.

I pulled out the old latch but the new one doesn't click in like that and its exactly the same. Cant figure out how to bend the metal enough to hold it in. Help?

Greetings, Just found your video. I have just replaced the facia panel but in the process I activated the door lock which is now in the closed position. I cannot close the door now. Before I remove it and get brutal, is there an easy way to get the spring back into the open position?
Added bit: Please ignore. Took the lock off and got brutal. Managed to reset lock. Thanks anyway. Good simple video. Storing your site for future ref.

Don't think the bottom of the door panel needs to be removed, just the control section.

Shx33r55 had it about 1 year. The door latch fails to reset. It's (the latch) is made of delrin/plastic instead of metal. Totally unacceptable that it lasts so short a time. I am a bachelor and do about a load a week. Sure a replacement latch is only $30, but wth? This thing was almost $1000 delivered and installed and it last a little over 1 year? Common Bosch. How about quality metal parts? Great design sweat shop construction. Get it right.

I had the latch problem on my SHE3ARF6UC/21. I bought and installed a new latch but it still didn't latch securely. On close examination I discovered that the tolerance for the latch to engage was too wide (probably due to use). I inserted a small shim under the latch to raise it. It now latches reliably.
