    I love this ! I noticed you ironed on your wool mat that is on your cutting mat. I was told the heat can still go through and warp your mat.

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  4 года назад

      We haven't had any problem with that on our cutting mat, and we use it like this weekly. At home, you could just pop your mat on your ironing board and that will work just fine! :) - Morgan

    • @joannebock2885
      @joannebock2885 3 года назад

      Kathy Malmquist you are correct. The heat does go through, I learned the hard way. Now I iron on a separate space to avoid any heat on my cutting mat, it causes damage and won’t lie flat

    Great tutorial. Curious as to why you do not use a walking foot at the end when you sandwich so many layers together. Thank you

      Good question! You can certainly use a walking foot! Jen may have just engaged the dual feed feature instead as she was sewing on the Bernina. - Yajaira

    I bought this kit to make but found that the material after cutting as directed is too short for the liner! I did not have the 1/4” seam allowance and had to trim the inner scalloped shape as well. So I had to trim the inner shape as well. I did buy the spring version and will trim the fabric to ensure I have the 1/4” allowance around the scalloped template.

      Shabby Fabrics thanks! You all are wonderful! I adjusted the inner basket to match the outer basket and it’s still very cute. I had not much of a seam allowance when sewing around the scallop but went very slowly. I will be sure to pay very close attention to measuring and cutting when I make the spring basket. Thanks very much for your reply. I enjoy the tutorials and all your kits, fabrics!

    Do you use a shorter switch length when going around the scallops?

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  3 года назад

      It is not a bad idea to use a shorter stitch length, so that it can stay together more secure. However, you are more than welcome to do a regular stitch length. - Yajaira

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  4 года назад

      We made the shallow rectangular basket. The three sizes from the pattern are:
      - Basket A - 5.5" x 12" x 3.5" - Shallow rectangular basket
      - Basket B - 12" x 12" x 3.5" - Shallow square basket
      - Basket C - 9" x 9" x 5" - Deep square basket

    Just curious. Why do you need two pieces of the foam since both sides are fusible? Could you not make one side in strips and the other side solid and not do the facing? I think you would probably want to bind it in that case. Do you have a tutorial for scalloped binding? ;-)

    I’m so confused 😐 . Why would you do a tutorial if your not able to share the demissions. This doesn’t make any sense. I would think if your going to market her product, she would allow you to share the entire information needed to make the basket.

      Actually, she worked hard to write a pattern that we are promoting. So, if we gave away the dimensions for free, she wouldn't sell any patterns. It's not fair of us to give away her hard work. I'm sure you'll find a channel out there for you. Thanks for watching. - Morgan
