Chattanooga Councilwoman Pulled Over; Demands Officer Call Police Chief

Chattanooga City Councilwoman Demetrus Coonrod demaded officers contact the police chief after the car she was riding in was pulled over on June 24th 2017.
The driver of the vehicle, Anthony Gladden was pulled over in Coonrod's car. Gladden did not have a valid license at the time and Councilwoman Coonrod didn't have proof of insurance. The officer allowed the vehicle occupants to switch seats and Gladden was cited for driving without a license and Councilwoman Coonrod for not having insurance.
The police chief at the time Fred Fletcher wrote in a statement, "I am very proud of the professional way a young officer responded to a difficult and intimidating situation. I am certain newly elected CW Coonrod appreciates now that it is inappropriate to attempt to skip six levels of supervision/command and how this made an officer's difficult job even more difficult."
Councilwoman Coonrod stated, ""I was not aware that Mr. Gladden did not have his license or I would not have asked him to drive me home that evening. Once the officer instructed me to switch and drive the vehicle home myself, I promptly complied, I felt that the officer did not give me a proper opportunity to show my insurance and it was appropriate to notify the department administration in case proper procedure was not being followed. Even though I hold elected office, I expect to be treated like all other Chattanoogans."

No, the driver may have went to jail but the passenger would have been called a cab. There's no law against being an impaired passenger in a car due to drugs that are prescribed to you.

When talking to the officer, or walking around her car, or standing behind the car for some time, the councilwoman didn't seem too impaired to drive. The officer obviously came to the same conclusion.

Yeah using your position like that to try to intimidate an officer out of their duty is about as corrupt as it gets. She is pure evil there's no doubt about that. This is why no one should be hired or elected on the basis of race or gender or whatever else is used as the primary factor in DEI or affirmative action hiring. construction workers in my area, Michigan, are probably paid quite well. If you are single and have no kids, as I do not have kids.....with the money I have saved from a factory job, even? I can dine at luxury restaurants, no, not every night, but it is the privilege of hard work....you can still make a TON of money, even with bills, in my case, I saved up and then had the burden of bills, but, in my case, yes, you have so much freedom if you invest and save up. I can do the things I enjoy doing at 35....now I am looking into going back to school. I already have a BA, but want more for myself. Taking the hard road, lol. But I know it could be so much worse.

No drivers' license, and the vehicle registration expired five months ago, and she gets snotty with the officer!
As a recently retired police officer, she did a great job. I know in my state, Florida, if a driver doesn't have a driver's license, that's a criminal traffic offense subject to an arrested. Furthermore, if the owner of the vehicle knowingly left a person with no DL operate their vehicle, they she or he can be cited as well.
Subject to arrest not arrested. Simple English.

Idk. She was kind of a c*nt for just writing the ticket after telling them to find the insurance proof. She gave them no notice. It was unfair of her to just jump to the conclusion that the insurance proof wouldn’t have been found. Now they have to go to court all because the cop “didn’t want to wait all night.”

She pulled out into traffic without signaling. The officer should have pulled her over and given her a ticket for that as well. A little bit of power goes to some people's heads making them think they are better than everyone else and above the law.

In this instance, the officer did everything right EXCEPT to allow the Councilwoman, who admitted to having taken her medication, drive away from the scene on an expired registration. It's unbelievable that the woman played the "Councilwoman" card instead of being a responsible citizen. She is not above the law and has no business being in office.

Drug dealers or Gang Members? Surprised they didn't detain that guy, i live here and was pulled over, i do have a license but had forgot it that day and i was instantly detained (cuffed, placed in squad car), until they verified who i was
