its good to focus on things like this instead of world politics .
I LOVE the rake of Mark 1s. Pity in some ways its not remote controlled as the driver spoils it, but then that is the fun of being able to be a real engine driver

Was hoping to go myself but sadly missed it! Should be filming it August 20th though and certainly look forward to seeing some magnificent locos.

The Rail car, and the little 0-4-0 Class 02(?) diesel shunter need a driver , and some passengers for the rail car. I used to be a member of the Hull & District Model Engineers , but they didn't seem to have really good running days like this, and I never saw any scale wagons and coaches.

Who built those lovely maroon coaches? The Bulleid was hauling nine at one time and the collective picture around the turntable is a great pic. Good film. Thanks.

This looks like really great fun! Silly question, but do you have to have any qualifications to do this with your loco? Or is it something anyone can do who builds or buys one of these locos? I wondered if being conversant with all the signals is a requirement for example. Either way, what stunning models.

Yes it's a real great work but where are young people? Who is to preserve the heritage?

pega17pl young people are getting jobs so they can get enough money together so they can do this when they get older

Exactly! Soon there will be nobody to pass the skills on to. I’m lucky to own a 3 1/2 inch gauge Tich. It’s a great starting point for the hobby. I’m planning to start building a Sweet Pea too.

Absolutely fascinating....well done! The opening short was superb and it was amusing to see the railbus tootling along the mainline. The diesel shunter looked as if it was off to work a local goods yard. What an amazing set up with a great collection of rolling stock too! What gauges are provided for? It appears there's something larger than 7.25in on offer? Keep up the excellent work and many thanks to all the Engineers involved. Best wishes. Rob.

If I ever came to this club I'd never leave so much to look at the rail crane the mk1 coaches all the locomotives insane details all expertly filmed the only complaint the films need to be about 4hrs longer lol not really possible but still that would be the only complaint of mine

    I know a few trains I'd build
a 15" gauge of the Peppercorn that was just built
maybe even one in this size

Looks like a massive event, how many locos showed up overall?

    • @ukmodelengineering
      @ukmodelengineering  6 лет назад

The event is held twice a year, once in May and again in August. Depending on weather there can be over 30 locomotives that all run to a timetable emulating full size practice.

Correction. check out Train Mountain. theres many videos on it on youtube, although your right in that British models are not very plentiful here in the USA

      HighlandWinterWolf
Thanks for introducing me to Train Mountain. I'll make it up there from SF some day. Maybe it's the gravel or the backdrop or the steam locomotives at the British site, but America's Train Mountain has an "unfinished" feel to it. It's lacking in detail. It's as if it's a work in progress, a project incomplete.
We got so much real estate that it may work to our disadvantage sometimes. But I really like the steam locomotives' moving parts and steam. They seem more animated and alive.
