This song is so underrated. Sure its not typical nightwish and far more folk oriented but that is right in Troy's wheelhouse and he absolutely nails it. This is my 3rd fave track from the album after shoemaker and how's the heart. Troy is never going to replace marco's vocal but he is still a great singer.
Marko (understandably) gave up his backing vocal parts* to Troy in this album and even if I don't like his vocals that much (This song is the exception to the rule) I can see that he's so freaking talented it hurts *Endlessness is Marko's song and you can't tell me otherwise
@@franciscoborjaescobarsuare5802 Endlessness is a great track as well and Marko's vocals are as excellent as ever. But he left of his own freewill and to me, some took it out on Troy, who I hasten to add has been supplying backing vocals for Nightwish live long before the release of Human Nature. Troy deserves some love in my opinion.
This is taken from latest album Human II Nature and is one of two live virtual concerts performed to an audience of 150,000. Troy guested on some earlier albums and toured with them until he and Floor became full-time band members mid 2013. He is now Floor's backing singer on the recent tour as well as playing multiple instruments. And lead singer here. LOL. By the way did you notice that Floor rushed back for her vocals, definitely live.
Troy has been in the band a while now and in some of your past reactions. Flew under the radar I guess. Troy is the English member of the band and has been integrated more and more over the last few years. This is a song that he sings on the album. He has been asked to take on more male singing portions with Marko's departure. He doesn't have the same power or style as Marko, but brings a unique quality to the band with the multiple different instruments he plays and a gentler singing quality. Brilliant song and a great change up within the framework of the album itself. The virtual world format was developed because Covid and the worlds lockdown meant the band couldn't tour and perform their album in front of a live audience. Not only were the band members essentially out of work, but so were the production crews, roadies, managers and all the rest of the bands support (same with all bands). This was their solution to that weird time in the world and allowing the Nightwish Army to see them perform songs from the new album and raise some funds for those out of work during this time. Rock on Rayactions. You are doing it right.
Another Floor fact: she has this great ability to adjust her voice to her partner. In the original album version Troy was panned equally while (IIRC) Marko was panned left and Floor was panned right. It let us pick up who was doing what. With Marko gone it seemed like Floor sang Marko's lines then flipped to her lines when she went high. Troy has a gentle, warm voice without much power, so if Floor stayed high she would easily be heard over him. If she cranked up the volume, we wouldn't hear him at all. By staying with Marko's lower pitched lines, she fitted in under Troy's voice, allowing us to hear him. It's interesting that her range is sufficient for her to sing a tenor role when needed.
Troy's only lead vocal with Nightwish to date. They are scheduled to record the next album this summer. I would imagine he will get a lead vocal on this record too, but we'll have to wait and find out.
This song is such a blast in a live performance! It’s simple melody and words make it so easy to sing along to and when the breakdown comes, it’s just ecstatic.
It was two concerts with different setlists. They weren't the only ones. Wacken Open Air did a virtual festival, Epica a DVD with dancers and elaborate stage sets, Beyond the Black an acoustic concert, The Warning a concert from their cave. There must have been more that I just don't know.
Yeap, was quite a cool experience, their first virtual concert and one of the first ones in that period. And their energy even in that environment was amazing!
@@Mischnikvideos Feuerschwanz (a German folk metal band) did two. One of them (crowd funded) is still up on the Napalm Records RUclips channel. Great concert if you like that type of music.
Marko and Jukka are gone now! This is from their last album. I typically like Nightwish live but the produced lyric videos for this album are better than these virtual concerts because of production values in my opinion.
Troy is so popular as a guest with other bands. He did a couple of albums with Midge Ure, he has appeared with everyone from Katrina and the Waves to Status Quo in addition to being a full time member of various folk bands and his own solo music. He was even in Penguins of Madagascar :)
Troy is shy he generally hides. His been in the band since about 2007. He kind First came out of the woodwork for Wembley because he’s English and playing there was a life long ambition. He plays more instruments than I can count. He’s always sang but has sort of now stepped into the Marco vocals now. This is one of 2 internet concerts done during covid.
A small added detail: Troy has played with the band since 2007, but was not officially a member of the band until 2013. The same time Floor was inducted.
The Live at the Islanders Arms concerts were streamed on back-to-back days at the end of May 2021. The tour to support the Human :||: Nature album was on hold due to the pandemic and so they created this epic green screen/CGI adventure. The first night was streamed at 8pm Central European time and the second night (with slightly different set list) was streamed at 8pm EDT. I took my laptop and speakers outside, built a fire in the firepit and watched it under the stars. The shows were available for ticket holders all weekend. I must have watched each show at least 4 times in total that weekend. It was pretty much non-stop Nightwish until they cut off the stream. It was bittersweet as it was their first performance without Marko; but it was still amazing.

The "man" is Troy Donockley who joined Nightwish the same time as Floor. But Troy was involved with the band years before that. The rest is Floor, Kai on drums, Tuomas on keys, Emppu on guitar and Jukka Koskinen on bass (rap lacing Marko).
Incredible song......you're dead on with the " humbleness " in this band ....the 2 virtual shows were a godsend during the pandemic .......on a side note, its hard for me to watch Floor now , knowing the last we heard about her was she had some health issues and they had to cancel the last show of the tour , she hasnt posted anything in almost 2 weeks , hoping her and the baby are doing well !!
Yeah, the situation is strange. Someone from her "team" made a post on FloorWorld yesterday, saying she's fine and all, but it still doesn't mean much. I don't like it.
@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 oh ok i missed that , i go to " Floorworld " most everyday to see if she post anything .....thats good , i still want to hear from her though
Pregnancy at her age is a risk on itself, and the closer she gets to labor time it's more likely to require more rest, blood pressure can get higher or simply she needs to take some extra care at the final weeks
Troy is a musical Swiss Army knife playing everything from guitars and mandolins to whistles flutes and the Irish bagpipes. He has always done backing vocals and was assigned some lead vocals on HumanIINature and since Marko left has picked up many of Markos vocal parts.
This was filmed in 2021 as a virtual online concert to promote the new Nightwish album 'Human Nature'... There was still a covid lockdown in March when the performance was filmed - it is available on DVD ('Live at the Islanders Arms') ... It was also the first performance w/ bassist Jukka Koskinen, who replaced Marko Hietala (he quit in 2020) and his vocals had to be split between Floor and Troy Donockley (Flutes, pipes, mandolin, guitar) Troy Donockley also has another project Auri w/ Nightwish's Tuomas Holopainen and his wife Johanna Kurkela (vocals) which is more folk-sy musically.
These are all current members of Nightwish, Marko left the band in 2021. Like others said, Troy became official member same time as Floor, but he was with the band as a guest musician long before that. Since Marko left he took his role as a second singer in some of the songs, new bassist is Jukka Koskinen from Wintersun (same band drummer Kai Hahto came from)
Troy has been a member since the Anette era of Nightwish, I think he joined for Dark Passion Play? Or maybe he officially joined on Imaginaerum? Troy and Tuomas are also in a side-band with Tuomas' wife Johanna called Auri, which is less metal and more folky, sea-shanties...if you want to hear an example of their music and Johanna's wonderful voice, listen to Pearl Diving by Auri. You will hear Troy sing on that too, but it's really Johanna's voice that is the core.
That's Troy Donockley singing, who joined NW as multi-instrumentalist at SAME time that Floor joined. He plays uilleann pipes (NOT bagpipes which are Scottish, these are Irish pipes) in 2nd half of song. He frequently plays bouzouki (like guitar), pipes (flute style), whistles, et. al. When Marco left, Troy stepped up to do more vocals. He's not Marco yet his voice harmonies w/ Floor are very nice (like in How's the Heart). He also provided the 3rd voice in Greatest Show on Earth (when Marco was still with NW). I love his musicianship, yet I'm not going to claim I love this lead singing voice, however its nice. Troy REALLY brings the folk vibe to NW for sure. This was virtual concert NW decided to do since they could not yet tour near end of the Pandemic. Yes, Floor is a sweetheart and humble. Very few lead singers would do backing vocals for their band mates to take lead. She did it for Marco many times and here even Troy.
This song is essentially highlighting our mortality and ultimate death. At the start you hear a steady ominous drone underpinning the uplifting music and lyrical arrangements. The drone is the inevitability of our death, be it tomorrow or many decades hence. In a nutshell it encourages us to live a positive and productive life, be a good example to the next generation and then accept our ultimate demise Within the grand scheme of things “my harvest will come tiny valorous straw among the millions facing to the sun” and “water the fields surrender to the earth” To me the extended instrumental break in the middle represents the life of an individual with all its ups, downs and changes. The last lyrics “Arrive alive” are especially poignant. Essentially encouraging us all to live our life’s with vigour and purpose and when our ti e comes to leave this mortal coil, be satisfied with the life you have led. As for Troy...His vocals are like a warm honey. This song is from their latest album Human :II: Nature, and this song is highly underrated by reactors, so thank you for your reaction !!!! PS: Troy joined Nightwish as a full time member the same time as Floor did !!! Here is a list of instruments that Troy can play: most known for his playing of Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone...etc etc. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.
Troy was formally part of an english band called Iona (elements of celtic folk, pop/rock) in the 1990's among many other projects. His Low whistle, uilleann(Irish bagpipes) are always a standout, amongst all the other instruments he plays.
You never heard Troy sing lead while Marko was there because it would be unfair to the rest of the bands to have 3 killer lead vocalists in the same band at the same time...lol..........Troys is playing the Ullean pipes.....similiar to bag pipes but you'll see he is not blowing into a mouthpiece, he is using a bellows to draw air into the instrument......Troy has =done and admirable job taking over Marko's vocals on other songs, although Marko and Floor's voices together were incredible.......yes this was from a virtual concert they did during COVID.....excellent musically but did miss the live audience........btw 75k subscibers?!......I remember when you started I'd be in these chats with crickets and an echo.....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!
This is from a virtual concert they did during the Rona virus Troy became a permanent member about the same time as Floor he is an instrumentalist and vocalist
Troy Donockley is one of the 6 members of Nightwish. He doesn't play in all their songs. He plays the Uillean Pipes, Tin Whistles, Guitar and Bouzouki. He mainly sings backing vocals although he is the lead vocalist of this song.
Hi...thx for your reaction...Harvest is a song from their last album and shurely it is Troy that became full member with Floor ....the 2 virtuell shows took place in the pandemic....it lacks the crowd but was great in times where there were no live shows....
This concert was during the covid pendamic. Thay came together for the fans to this virtual concert and all you see is not there only green background for them. I was one of the fans who dit buy a ticket for this one whit a special t shirt of this one's i a livetime concert.
You were stressing on troy so much that you didn't notice that Marko was missing 😊This was their first concert after he quit (due to burnout and anger at the corporate overlords). You can tell that the new bass player, Jukka, was a bit nervous about trying to fill Marko's shoes. It's understandable considering what has happened before with the replacement of other beloved band members.
Once you are done with Nightwish, you should check out Scardust - they were heavily influenced by Nightwish and their lead singer had training with Floor Jansen. In particular and in relation to this song, check out Scardust's "Concrete Cages" - symphonic metal with a hurdy-gurdy (featuring Patty Gurdy). Absolutely epic.
Notes on Troy, and quotes from band and manage my ent: Troy plays: Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone Troy about the pipes (from documentary Please learn the setlist): "You have to be slightly insane to play them. They're not easy." Tuomas told me he'd been working on "The Eyes of Sharbat Gula" for a while without really hitting the mark. As I was listening to an early demo I thouht it sounded so intriguingly hypnotic that it really didn't need explanatory lyrics. When I mentioned this to Tuomas he said it had never occurred to him to think it like that. The song became an instrumental although there are some ethereal human voices in the background. TONI: Troy, the other new member, didn't have to jump in as dramatically [as Floor], but he has become an irreplaceable part of this group, too. If there's tension in the air for some reason, Troy casts a spell and magically dispels the bad vibes. EWO: Troy radiates the kind of cheerfulness that we sulky northerners can only dream of, but I guess some of his positive attitude has rubbed off on us, too. TUOMAS on touring with Troy: We start preparing about 30 minutes before the show [New York Hammerstein 2915], each of us in his or her own way. Floor changes on her stage clothes and warms up her voice in her dressing room, while we`re warming our fingers in ours. Back in the day, I used to get scared stiff before the show - it was just nauseating, pure horror. It all changed when Troy did some kind of a hypnotic trick to me in Los Angeles in 2012. I really don't know what happened during those twenty minutes, but afterwards, I haven't really panicked before going on slage,
Nightwish Army south Brittany France reporting. You already reacted to Troy, playing the whistle on the Islander. Ive not checked your Nightwish reactions, have you not reacted to "The Greatest Show on Earth"? Now you recognise him.
There's no more Marko. He left the band in 2020 before this virtual Concert was played. But he's on the Album human :||: nature yet. Marko is replaced by Jukka (Koskinen).
Troy joined Nightwish as a permanent member in 2015. He fills many different roles. Also Marko has left the band and been replaced by bassist, Jukka Koskinen. No worries Rachel. Harvest is used as a metaphor for death. A very introspective take on our life's journey culminating in the final destination.
I was surprised that you didn't recognize Troy, as he has been with Nightwish longer than both Kai and Jukka Jr. Although he is in the background usually.
One of my favorite songs from the Human : | :Nature album! The last thing Troy sings has me curious....as "Arrive Alive " is associated , for me, with Alcoholics Anonymous....as I am 23 years, 11 months and 1 day sober!
The Next, Please React: Iris (Orkestra) Cover By Cakra Khan, Bed Roses Cover By Dimas Senopati. The Last Mohican Alip Bata Ginger Style, Seniorita (Koplo Music) By Via Valen
this is Troy Donokley, the multi-instrumentalist....you hear him on "I want My Tears Back", singing backup, and playing the pipes.....bagpipes with electric guitar?...do AC/DC's "Long Way to the Top" from the high voltage album from 1976.....
Troy Donockley basically were just a helpful hand before Floor,he did album recording favors for Tuomas, and starred in a few music videos, but he was not a permanent member. Floor Jansen came in permanently and that had Troy wanting to join permanently shortly thereafter too,can you blame him?😏 So he has been with them permanently since 2013,on and off if Tuomas wanted his services for much longer. Troy when asked how many instruments he wants to play? Troy: YES!
Hello Rachel, greetings from UK I thought you had forgotten us, it has been a loooong time! 😁 Where did you find this song from? I don't think I have heard a reaction to this one before
Heyo Just found out about your channel through RUclipss recommendations. And after this video I just thought (if you haven't made a video about it, of course) you also just might like "The Bard's Song" by a band called Blind Guardian.
I'm searching the live video of ENDLESSNESS but nothing found maybe Marco was left already the band that's a power song also like ISLANDER floor harmonize at the last part
There is no live version. This was the first gig with Human :||: Nature songs. Shortly before, Marko had resigned. Tuomas refuses to put the song on the setlist because it is a Marko exclusive song.
while this particular song isn't necessarily a favorite of mine, it's still a good one to vibe too and one that doesn't get enough attention or reactions to
Hey, Ray. 😊 It CAN be quite confusing when you're a newbie, but it is also very important to keep up with the time lines. This performance was in 2021 which puts Marko in the "replaced" category. Jukka Koskinen made his debut here as Marko's replacement. So it's Jukka, Tuomas, Emppu, Floor, Kai, AND . . . . . Troy Donockley. That's the gentleman singing. He became a member of Nightwish same time as Floor, June 2013.... 2 months before Wacken. OMG 😂 When you bonked your head and said "Hello?!" I almost died because I could've sworn you were going to do a Biff reference on Marty McFly!! 😂😂 That would've been GOLD!! 😊❤️🤘🤘

I was yelling "It's Troy" over + over at the screen. Then you said "It's Troy"...so I guess it worked. 😊
You crack me up. Love your reactions.
The new album is amazing.
You SHALL love the singing in Poets of the fall - angel (alexander theatre )
Troy donockly. The multi instrument ( flute pipes etc) player. Joined in 2012(2013as official).
😊🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯🤘
Midsummer here....harvest is coming 🤘😁👍💙🇫🇮
Hi...thx for your reaction...Harvest is a song from their last album and shurely it is Troy that became full member with Floor ....the 2 virtuell shows took place in the pandemic....it lacks the crowd but was great in times where there were no live shows....
Side note, the "harvest" is a metaphor for death.
Nice, funny reaction -- Mrs. Marble almost lost her marbles figuring out this mystery.
This concert was during the covid pendamic. Thay came together for the fans to this virtual concert and all you see is not there only green background for them. I was one of the fans who dit buy a ticket for this one whit a special t shirt of this one's i a livetime concert.
You would of first seen Troy playing the low whistle when you reacted to 'The Islander' :)
Nightwish always suprises!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes. As well as the ilander(marco singing) as this song floor knows excactly how to background it.
The musical interlude sounds very similar to how they sounded in the most part on their first full release album. Probably why the little smile.
such a beautiful welsh sound 6 min into it
You must listen to “my Walden”. That’s great and Troy played the long flute.
Troy plays low whistle on my Walden mate
You were stressing on troy so much that you didn't notice that Marko was missing 😊This was their first concert after he quit (due to burnout and anger at the corporate overlords). You can tell that the new bass player, Jukka, was a bit nervous about trying to fill Marko's shoes. It's understandable considering what has happened before with the replacement of other beloved band members.
I cannot wait until she listens to greatest show on earth and poet and a pendulum she is going to love them so much
You can get more Troy and Floor in How's the Heart acoustic. You know.. when you need your next dose of Nightwish.
Notes on Troy, and quotes from band and manage my ent:
Troy plays:
Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone
Troy about the pipes (from documentary Please learn the setlist):
"You have to be slightly insane to play them. They're not easy."
Tuomas told me he'd been working on "The Eyes of Sharbat Gula" for a while without really hitting the mark.
TUOMAS on touring with Troy:
We start preparing about 30 minutes before the show [New York Hammerstein 2915], each of us in his or her own way.
Troy is who played flute in Islander.
Geralt would be listening to this in his head before he goes into battle
Troy joined Nightwish as a permanent member in 2015. He fills many different roles. Also Marko has left the band and been replaced by bassist, Jukka Koskinen. No worries Rachel. Harvest is used as a metaphor for death. A very introspective take on our life's journey culminating in the final destination.
2013 actually, together with Floor.
Korn and AC/DC both use bagpipes in there music as well. It's actually pretty common.
Floor is my favorite vocalist ever. After forever is forever

Troy
this is Troy Donokley, the multi-instrumentalist....you hear him on "I want My Tears Back", singing backup, and playing the pipes.....bagpipes with electric guitar?...do AC/DC's "Long Way to the Top" from the high voltage album from 1976.....
Troy: YES!
Another fun tidbit I’ve heard is when Floor is not providing vocals she will leave the stage so as not to distract from her band mates
Hello Rachel, greetings from UK
I thought you had forgotten us, it has been a loooong time! 😁
Where did you find this song from? I don't think I have heard a reaction to this one before
Rachel.....its Troy 😀
❤❤
Please react to both How's The Heart and Shoemaker live
❤
Troy Donekly, new member.
Heyo
Just found out about your channel through RUclipss recommendations. And after this video I just thought (if you haven't made a video about it, of course) you also just might like "The Bard's Song" by a band called Blind Guardian.
6:16 that sounded less hollow than I expected... LOL just kidding...
🤩👌 💥 💯 🎼
🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
🤗🍒🤘🏻😘
I'm searching the live video of ENDLESSNESS but nothing found maybe Marco was left already the band that's a power song also like ISLANDER floor harmonize at the last part
There is no live version. This was the first gig with Human :||: Nature songs. Shortly before, Marko had resigned. Tuomas refuses to put the song on the setlist because it is a Marko exclusive song.
while this particular song isn't necessarily a favorite of mine, it's still a good one to vibe too and one that doesn't get enough attention or reactions to
Heard Carnival of Rust from Poets of the Fall yet???
Never give up, BMTH AT ROYAL ALBERT HALL especially "Doomed"
Rachel, you are so funny, nice and beautiful, LUV U - Kisses from Brazil!!!!
Es gibt 2 virtuelle concerte.
Tag 1 + Tag 2
Die Setlist variiert etwas.
Hey, Ray. 😊
It CAN be quite confusing when you're a newbie, but it is also very important to keep up with the time lines.
This performance was in 2021 which puts Marko in the "replaced" category.
Jukka Koskinen made his debut here as Marko's replacement.
So it's Jukka, Tuomas, Emppu, Floor, Kai, AND
.

.
.
That would've been GOLD!!
😊❤️🤘🤘
@Ms_Rayactions Is there really nothing else you can do with your life? 🙄
Nice Troy-lock 😂
This was one of 3 online, pandemic shows. This is Troy Donlockey. He has the lead vocal on this song, on the new album. He will be given a larger vocal role since Marco left. This is the first shows I know of since his departure. Honestly, I didn’t think the shows were very good. No crowd, no energy and they kept playing songs that seemed to highlight Marcos absence.
You've got to listen to Drop Dead Cynical by Amaranthe
