My favorite thing about Nightwish is just because you can shred doesn't mean you should, just because you can drum solo doesn't mean you should.. the song is all that matters
100%
Well said.
Absolutely true!
I’ve read from a number of reactors is that everyone in the band understands how to play so it serves the song.
Marco, the bass player and the other vocalist was once asked they don’t cut loose and impromptu solos, his answer was we professionals and have a need to masturbate with our instruments during a performance.
The choir and much of the symphonic elements are played as backing tracks when performed live. He has said he would play all the parts if he had 10 hands. Welcome to the wonderful world of Floor Jansen and Nightwish. Romanticide next? Enjoy the journey.
I Concur
^This
I concur. Also yes those choir parts at end are sang by real choir to an backing track. And London Filharmonic orchestra is doing many all of those orchestra parts. NW has worked with them about 20 years by now
Romanticide! Love it
He does play some of it. You can tell easily during Weak Fantasy at Wembley, he uses his right hand for orchestra and left for choir. But yeah like he’s said himself, he needs more hands to play all of it live.
This is no doubt the best lineup of Nightwish of all times... whathever people say. On these songs there was a magic touch... It all came together...
Thanks for another Nightwish reaction.
Pleased continue your Nightwish adventure 🤘☺️🤘
Jukka Nevalainen is an impressive drummer but so is their current drummer, Kai Hahto. Jukka had to step away from the drumkit due to health reasons, severe insomnia, in 2014 but still works with Nightwish in their background troops.
If you want to check some songs that are played by Kai Hahto, check out anything from their more recent concerts from Wembley in either 2015 or 2022, or the Tampere concert in 2015. These are official recordings so their sound quality is up to snuff, and not fan camera stuff. I'd recommend "Yours is an Empty Hope" from 2015. It has vocal parts from Marko, the bass player and some vocal range surprises from Floor.
Another great drum song, "Everdream" , Jukka drives the double bass for the last third of the song. Also from the same Wakken concert.
Thank you for deciding to continue exploring this true musical universe, new subscriber here for that. I await your next steps with great curiosity.
Greetings from Romania!
😎🧀🤘
Hey General! NW Army Philly Division here. Thanks for your diligence!
I salute you Philly division(thats Philadelphia right?:))🫡
Finland, Lahti division here. Just for shout out and to salute you guys on the other side of the water. Lets keep it up and lets keep appearing, supporting, guiding etc to old and new reactors in youtube.
I habe to give special shout out to you guys in US nw army that one of the most important national treasure of our small country is gained so much popularity in your section, NorthAmerica/US of A. Thank u sir. Good job.
Jukka had to retire about a year after this Wacken 2013 concert because of severe insomnia. No reason for that was found. Very difficult decision for him but the only possible. He knew he could not tour, so when Nightwish was in the process of recording the next album Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015), Jukka thought it was better that a good friend of his, Kai, from Wintersun, would take over and play on the album too. Kai had to learn 75 minutes of music in a couple of days.
Fans will always miss Jukka, he now works in the Nightwish management. But Kai, 'The human metronome', is a great replacement with excellent technique. He said he wants to play the old songs like Jukka. About Storytime he said he listened to this very Wacken performance to write down the drum parts for himself, he said it took him a couple of hours.
You could watch this: Nightwish Making of new album 2015, episode 8
In this short episode Nightwish members visit The Angel Studios in London, where the backing track is recorded by The London Philharmonic Orchestra, and a couple of choirs, the other one is a children's choir. Tuomas composes the music for the backing track, plays it with synthesizer, and Pip Williams arranges it for an orchestra.
Thanks for the info!
That's pretty damn impressive to learn the parts that quickly.
❤
Toumas plays what he can live and controls any backing tracks from his keyboards mainly the orchestral/choral parts
They are the best at what they do no one better, God bless
This is how we play music in Finland. Thanks for a great reaction.👍👍👍
In many ways the best song to introduce a newbie to this wonderful band and Floor. A bit of everything to display their magnificent talent.
This is my feeling too. Ghost Love Score got me to check out more from them, but it was this song, this performance, that made me fall in love with Floor and Nightwish, and decide I had to go see them live.
Agreed. Not necessarily their best overall, but it's their best song and performance with the widest appeal. Everyone from pop fans to metalheads can enjoy this one, and it has a lot of the Nightwish sound that lets you know what they're about. Definitely a performance that leaves you wanting more.
I 100% agree
Nightwish is without a doubt one of the best bands in the metal scene ever.. its a pleasure to watch them perform.. so much energy in one stage.. its awesome
The keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen, is the main song writer and does a lot of the arranging for their songs. He has also been involved in production and mixing on a couple of their albums. He is an amazing musical mind.
It’s Jukka prounounced with a Y (yuke-a) and yes we ALL LOVE HIM TOO!!!
Yes, it's definitely Storytime. 😎👍
Most definitely... 😁
I Concur
Epicness right there on that stage. "Storytime" has all the trademark Nightwish transitions and multi layering. A smorgasbord of delights. Thank you for reacting to this phenomenal band. 🙏😊👍❤️
The mystery of Nightwish continues on. I enjoy it so much.
Anette the singer before Floor couldn't do the Innocense part. Tarja- operactic Anette- pop Floor - Everything. Floor and Hannes are both down to earth people.
I was there. My Top3 concert ever. They are just amazing band and as a part of NW Army, just lovin the crowd here like every Nightwish concert 🔥🤘❤️ Greets from Finland 🇫🇮
EDIT: Saw them first somewhere between 98/99 and after that The Warning is only band who is even near their liveperformances. And Floor is the best singer ever lived in this planet 🔥
Another fabulous reaction to our beloved Nightwish and Floor. Yes, Jukka has so much energy and stage presence. He is still with the band in an administrative role since severe insomnia forced him to retire from playing shortly after this concert. Fortunately, he recommended his good friend, Kai Hahto, the drummer from Wintersun as his replacement. Although they have different styles, Kai is also a fantastic drummer in his own right. Anyway, I loved this. Hope to see you back again soon with more Nightwish.
I have periods of times where I just enjoy people enjoy bands I enjoy. And what really sticks out to me, is how much you appreciate the drummer, which is quite rare that people recognize or even realize that. That's so awesome to see/hear! :D Cool reaction, like your calm way of being. Very enjoyable! :)
Love this tune, saw Nightwish live in Minneapolis last year, unreal experience!
I love Jukka also...he has so much passion for playing the drums. He is one of the better drummers of this era. Unfortunately, he had continuous migraines that contributed to him having insomnia...getting very little sleep....like only an hour or per day! I totally understand, as in 2001, I was found to have chronic, obstructive sleep apnea, which was causing me to get less than 20 minutes of REM Sleep. I have been using a Bipap machine since 2001, and it literally saved my life. I don't know how Jukka is being treated by his doctor's, but he is still with the band in a managerial position.
As for "Storytime".... It's one of my favorite songs....but all of them are favorites!!! Every song of theirs are really great!
Kudos for giving props to Jukka! Not many notice this but he is indeed a large part of keeping songs interesting with ever changing, complex rhythms. Compared to him the vast majority of drummers are simply boring.
I appreciate you going back to listen again to that drop before the second verse. It annoys me that so many reactors pause right in the middle of it, and never experience just how cool that transition is.
And yes, Jukka (you-ka) is awesome!
100%
The Drummer is Phenomenal
This whole show is something really special from start to finish. Since Floor joined back in 2012 they are just keep getting better and better. Best symphonic metal band ever. Cant wait for new album. Tuomas is already working, writing new material. Best metal bands right now are Lovebites and Nightwish-at least in my opinion
This is just the beginning of your nightwish journey. There is still so much you will discover.
Tuomas is probably one of the most indescribable songwriters in the world. Floor has such a versatile voice, there is really nothing she can't sing.
Check out "Yours is an empty hope" live at Wembley Stadium London and her duet with Hank Poort in de best zangeers "Phantom of the opera".
Looking forward to more reactions from you.
Greetings from Cologne ( Germany )
Great that you continued your Nightwish journey. Subbed and liked for that.
The whole of the Waken set is excellent. It’s where most reactors select their next songs. With Nightwish as long as you keep it live you can’t go far wrong. If you want to be a bit different and see where they are today try “Noise” from Hellfest 2022. The opener from their recent tours.
There are two backing tracks, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Metro Voices Choir. Personally, I consider the drums to be the lead instrument in most Nightwish songs 😁 Jukka is pronounced Yook-kuh. Great job Cheezy! "Romanticide" from Wacken or "7 Days to the Wolves" from Wembley please!
the best chorus ever!
I love how deep Jukka's toms sound (almost sound tribal). Nightwish sounds so tight due to Jukka playing to a click track to stay in sync with the backing choir and orchestra. Their live shows are so incredibly tight and perfect that they sound like a studio version. Most bands wished their studio work sounded as good as a live NW show.
..this song just makes me feel good...🤘🤘🤘
There are on You-tube orchestral versions with the choir’s incorporated and a instrumental version as well from their album Imaginaerum. Which is also a film, made by them. In the film are the pipes which you where wondering about visible. So they actually are a movie prop suggesting a pipe organ. From Endless Forms Most Beautiful I found orchestral and instrumental versions as well. You will hear a lot of detail in the orchestration on those.
Excellent observation of the drummer because this, Planet Hell (with Tarja) and Scaretale (with Annette) are his masterclass dissertations. He is so fun to watch.
Jukka is/was a beast - miss him sooo much... 😢
They use a laptop with the studio tracks running to a click track in the drummers in ear monitors , this can be slowed a little or sped up a little, this is fed to front of house as well as what custom mixes for each band member. This technology is a great enhancement to the live mix. Love it Love them they truly are the best !
Floor is amazing.. and Tuomas is a genius!! This whole band rocks. And I love your JC shirt ;)
😎🧀🤘
As far as I know, he worked with Royal philharmonic orchestra and Vienna boys choir for backing tracks. 🤘. Hi from OZ.
The one with the smile looked very different ten months earlier. In the first photo of Floor and band there are two sarcastic grins and three depressed ones. Only Floor is really happy. As Tuomas put it, "We were in survival mode".
I am 71and have seen the greatest bands live here and euroland. Jukka the drummer is my favorite all time and started with buddy rich in the 50s circa my dad.
Yeah, Floor fits the band very well indeed! Symphonic metal is often quite dynamic in nature - much like prog, which I consider to be closely related to at least some symphonic metal. Having a dynamic singer when you're playing dynamic music is an obvious advantage. Thanks for another excellent reaction!
The band is amazing! Floor is a beast!❤
Jukka, J is silent, Yook - kaa. Yook rhymes w/ look. Kaa rhymes w/ Pa.
Jukka is such an emotional player. You can see it in facial expression and his body movements.
His fills are awesome!
I really love Jukkas groove he does in the middle of the song; its so complicated and awesome. (Pr. Yukka and Floors last name is pr. Yansen)
Jukka had to go into background as CEO of the band the following year due to health issues.
His replacement was his longtime friend and mentor Kai Hahto, formerly of Wintersun. Kai said he had to work hard to get the drumming just right for this song. He is not as stylistic, but extremely precise and a human metronome.
Every song is different with this amazing band.
Sure hope you continue the journey.
Perhaps Romanticide next.
Subbed in hopes of more.
Nightwish Army, BC, Canada
😎🧀🤘
Jukka is mostly badass drummer I know. Now they have Kai Hahto, who’s maybe best drummer at this time in business. Human metronome
In the comments of Ghost Love Score you've already seen - and responded to - Gabriel Bardac who extensively explained how NW works. Backing vocals as well as the orchestral parts are mainly backing tapes. Tuomas may very well use keyboard patches for additional orchestral sounds but it is mainly backing tracks.
Cool reaction 👍 Jukka The Drummer 🇫🇮
I think you're ready for Romanticide.
great reaction, from Colorado. do more NW. you seem astute to the music. will be waiting. Happy trails to you
🤗🍒🤘🏻 well done and welcome back and it's time for another (Nightwish) t-shirt!!!!! 😂
Welcome to Nightwish and Epica. Enjoy your reactions!
“ the drummer is the heart he sticks out “ and me , all I hear is Flor 😂, everybody can go on vacations and I can just listen to flor’s voice all day 😂😂
Next Nightwish: greatest show on earth tampere, and hello from Finland
Thanks again for a grat reaaction - with more love for Lukka. Of course, all of them are world class at their instruments, but seeing that Lukka finally gets more appreciation is so cool. Drumming is by far the most physically exhausting. Do "Romanticide" next? You'll be in for a very special treat ...surprise! 😉
😎🧀🤘
Hey Cheezyxyz, like I said to BEL Development, Nightwish is in my top 3 favorite bands together with The Warning and Epica (BEL is a bit behind with regards to Epica). I love Dany and Pau's vocals, but Floor is in category of her own - the best female vocalist. She's versatile, can sing anything in any genre as long as she feels the song. With Nightwish, no prima donna here, the whole band works as a unit, everyone has his/her time to shine. So, welcome to the NW rabbit hole. Jukka (Yukka) is a fantastic drummer, too bad he had to step down due to insomnia. Tuomas (keyboard, composer and lyricist > 90% of NW backlog) has the London Philarmonic Orchestra and the choir in his keys. I have seen both Nightwish, Epica and The Warning, more times, live in festival, big and small venue - all bands are fantastic live bands.
This is awesome info! And thanks for checking out BEL, he's an amazing guy and has so much knowledge 🤘
Singers sing what they can.
Floor sings what she want❤
This is one of my favourite tracks, especially this performance. You picked on a couple of elements why I love this performance. I always enjoy watching Jukka (pronounced Yukka) but especially in this video. Also I agree one can see how much fun they are having.
From what I’ve seen and heard Tuomas usually plays the most dominant part on the keys and the rest is on backtrack. Where you paused to look at his 3 keyboards you can see right after he shakes out his hand. Not surprising when playing such aggressive (I use this word in a good way) constantly he is playing for a long concert.
Another little subtle thing in this video is at 3:11 and 3:19 of the original video. Take a look at the lower left quadrant of the screen when the crowd is shown. There has been much said about that guy! 😂😊
I hope you get to react to Song Of Myself from this concert. Another of my favourites.
I wish other reactors would learn from you when it comes to the quality of the video audio and how balanced your mic and the video is. 👍🙏
Thank you for the kind words and information! 😎🧀🤘
@@Cheezyxyz when I see Floor do the Dutch windmill I almost cringe. I have a herniated disc and 2 compressed discs in my neck and if I tried that I’d end up in hospital! 😅😅
Try Nightwish Scaretale live with Annette Olzen the second singer and then live with Floor Jansen in Helsinki festival 2012, thanks request 😀
This is our Valkyrie Goddess for you. And you witnessed first hand a "Dutch Windmill" , and to finish you off, The Operatic "Cruise Missile" !!!!
Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bullwhip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch.
So, you like the drummer :
Jukka "The Pirate" Nevalainen is the former drummer in the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish (left for health reasons, but is still a member behind the scenes).
He Is famous among Nightwish fans for wearing a bandana on his head, even during shows, his energetic drumming style, and for his spinning of his drumsticks. Joined Nightwish at the age of 17.
AND, the True Master behind Nightwish:
Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish)
Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot (And you are correct on that!).
Awesome tune , although it is kind of a popish sound (originally sung by Anette, the second singer of Nightwish), but Floor gave it soooo much POWER !!! Including this "Operatic" part, what was originally done by children's choir because vocal limitations on their second singer (Great singer also, I might add), but Floor has none of that "Limit".
Nightwish lyrics are often a bit interpretive, and not as "straightforward" as many other bands, because Tuomas ( The Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen: founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish.) prefers people to put their own interpretations and life experiences into the lyrics. you connect with songs on a personal level when there is something there that relates to things you have gone/are going through, and you may even find new connections later on in life when you have gone through other big events/emotions. there might be songs you are quite indifferent about (oh, nice song) and then you go through something big and all of a sudden it makes you break down in tears because now you relate to something in the lyrics you didn't before, and see it from a whole new perspective. imagination and life experiences are powerful, and Tuomas has great appreciation of this.
NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.
Good one.
Thanks for your reaction, please keep doing Floor and Nightwish❣️
2 nice reactions from you to Nightwish👍. There is this thing with Nightwish and why they have such a large and loyal fanbase,it's the history of this band and also includes former members of this group. If you really dive into this band and also their members induvidualy,it makes up for a stellar story. The only sad thing ,in my opinion, people are a little late by discovering this band in the sence that they could/should even be bigger than they are,but ofcourse, better late than never. That said,i'm sure, lots of beautifull things are still to come.🤘
Better late than never is right 🤘 I'm happy to finally give them the attention I failed to do before.
@@Cheezyxyz Fantastic band, in so many ways....you can't go wrong with NW!!🤘
This drummer has so much energy that I always have the impression that he wishes he could play the songs faster, but he can't because he has to keep the right tempo. He deals with the frustration of that by just hitting harder instead, heh...
They are up there whit KING DIAMOND.
This song was written for their 2nd singer, Anette. She didn't sing the choir part. Floor added her expertise to that part and the choir was lowered in the mix. As far as I know, all backing tracks are computer coordinated with the click track. 😊🤘
Took you a long time to react to Nightwish again. They are a very diverse band and will amaze you everytime. Next 'Romanticede'.
😎🧀🤘
He’s got 3 keyboards all Korg’s. Kronos, Karma and N364
There is a invisible Nightwish member, a another keyboard player. He plays stuff like replaying the choir parts and such.
Thank you great reaction. Floor growls Yours is an empty hope Live at Wembley Arena 2015 please..Thank you.
You also should react to: The Poet and the Pendulum and The Greatest Show on Earth........both stunning songs and the most i like from Nightwish but in my opinion all their songs are stunning and it is pure fun listening to them!! Greetz from Germany Buddy ;o)
You can pick any (and I do mean any) song from this concert (Wacken 2013) and they are all excellent. Not only is Floor a fantastic singer, but all the other guys are also fantastic.
My Absolute Favorite song of Nightwish. I have a lot of favorites though but this one tops them all.
I don't understand much about music and even less about drumming but I have noticed that during many Nightwish songs I'm focusing to listen mainly Jukka's drumming. For example during She is my sin which they also played on that Wacken gig. Too bad he had to quit the band.
Jukka hits those drums like they owe him money.
Good reaction video 👍. In all politeness and totally out of context, may I say that you have some truly mesmerizing golden eyes? I know this is probably inappropriate, but it needed to be said 😊
Ok, now let's get back to business. You looked right. Tuomas plays three keyboards. And yes, Jukka is an amazing drummer, it's a pity that I never got to see him live. I was at my first NW concert just a few weeks ago and Jukka announced in August 2014 that he was stopping all drumming activities at Nightwish due to his ongoing insomnia. He continues to work in band management. But his successor Kai is an equally fantastic drummer.
My personal suggestions for nightwish songs to react next to:
"Seven days to the wolfes" live at Wembley (with Kai at drums and sexiest guitar solo ever from Empuu)
"Dark chest of wonders" from the wacken Show (the opener) or
"Weak fantasy" live at Tampere
Thank you so much for the kind words and info!
Yes the drummer is awesome!! Jukka (pronounced Yooka) no longer plays with the band. He had to step down because of his chronic insomnia and migraines. Kai is great, but sure miss Jukka's style. Jukka is still with the band but in a business capacity. He is one of the original band members.
Hey Cheezy! I love the bridge in this song cuz it's like epic, gladiator music and I love the overall melody as well. This song might be one of their more commercial sounding songs but Idk, either way it's great! It seems like this would be an exhausting song to sing live cuz of all the lyrics and the way they are delivered but Floor, as usual, knocks it out of the park. I agree with you about Jukka, the drummer at this time, they have a new drummer now who's solid but I love Jukka's playing style and presence behind the kit. Stay cheezy my friend and Happy Dany Day🧀🤘!
Hey Capt! 100% agree, I'm sure I'll soon find out how the new drummer sounds 🤘
There's a reason I recommend Ghost Love Score first to non-metal family and friends. Like a gentle intro. Storytime is pure metal with symphonic glory and an angelic vocal overlay.
Next songs to react to: Ever Dream, Romanticide, Ghost River, Song of Myself

What a voice what a band❤
Jukka ballistic mode, watch "Dark Chest of Wonders " 😍❤🔥
Tuomas play's on a hammond organ Cheez. And to everybody that was with me at wacken in 2013, rock on brothers and sisters this concert was awesome!
If you want layers and turbulence of 15 min. song, truly a masterpiece .. listen to "Poet and a pendulum". My personal favourite is "7 days to the wolves".. and you should hear Marco (bass) in "While you're lips are still red "
I had more or less the same reaction as you after first hearing this. The singer and the drummer …. I was floored (is that cheesy enough😆)
In Northern Europe the "J" is pronounced "Y" so Floor's last name is pronounced "Yansen" and Jukka is pronounced "Yukka". Jukka is now the Nightwish CEO handling the business side. He had insomnia for a long time and it got to be a real health issue so he was replaced some time in late 2013 or early 2014 with Kia Hato. They use backing tracks from the London Philharmonic Orchestra and also several choirs in the UK. The keyboardist Tuomas writes 95% of the music including all the Symphonic and choir music. There is also a click track to keep everyone on the same beat.
Juka is a machine.. if you see the song/video Romanticide soon.. pay attention to his leg work
Nightwish Army Northern Germany greets the Sabaton family.
Subscribed only because you keep an eye on Jukka (the drummer). Keep following him. You will not be disappointed!
UK Army popping in for a little story
Jumping in here 5 days late, but here it is....
All choirs you hear are actual choirs recorded at Angel Studios, London.
Tuimas tends to play actual samples on his keyboard buy he does tend to favor the violins. On one song he could start with a synth sound, then switch to strings later in the song.
The choirs are courtesy of London's The Metro Voices, and Young Musicians Children's Choir.
The orchestral parts are also recorded at Angel Studios by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and under the direction of Pip Williams.
Thanks for the video.
Stay safe and stay blessed.
😊❤️🤘🤘
Nightwish is awesome and have you checked out Epica yet? Simone Simons is also an exceptional singer with a great band! 😎
Love your reactions man ! :)
Thank you!
@@Cheezyxyz U're welcome! Keep Nightwish coming bro! You will not regret it. Peace :)
it's a backing track...the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir
as of July 4th 2023 granted most reactors have seen this in some form aside from quotes this statement has not been tampered with "Dear everyone,
With great regret, I have to cancel my shows on the 6th and 8th of July. The reason is that my health is not good enough to responsibly perform the shows. I became exhausted after my last show with Nightwish in Finland. So much so that I collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. There, the doctors determined that my baby is healthy and I don't have any serious illnesses. However, I was so fatigued that continuing to work is no longer an option. The show with Nightwish in Oslo had to be canceled as a result of this. That was 3 weeks ago. I had hoped that I would be able to rebuild enough energy to still perform those wonderful solo shows in the Netherlands. But unfortunately, that's not the case. To ensure the health of both myself and my unborn baby, I need to rest and focus entirely on my recovery and the final phase of my pregnancy.
Canceling a show breaks my heart! It's a decision I definitely don't take lightly. But I hope to welcome you back to one of my shows in the near future! In good health. For now, I will temporarily bid farewell to the public stage and promise to take good care of myself and my little one.
Love, Floor"
Check out the Official Video with Olsen, the one before Floor.
They use lots of backing tracks. I do not think the keyboard is making vocals. They generally use London Symphonic Orchestra for symphonic sound and a London choir for backing.
nice reaction vid
I've seen Nightwish live 4 times. Such an awesome live band. Sad that Marko left the band in 2020, But they are still awesome. The drummer in this video was so good but had health issues and decided to retire from playing/touring. Though I understand that he is still involved with the management of the band. The new drummer Kai, is awesome also. If you ever get a chance to see them live, don't miss out. You should check out some videos with their other two singers. Great reaction. 😁
As a keyboardist myself, it would be nearly impossible to set up a keyboard to do what the backing choir is doing. You can play the notes easily enough, but some of the vocal slides and changes between various vowel and consonant sounds simply do not exist on a keyboard. The difference from this to what a keyboard alone could actually do is small, but to a perfectionist like Tuomas it matters.
