The most beautiful, soul gripping, heart hugging, moving, masterful celebration for and remembrance of Tuomas’, anyone’s, father 💙 Tuomas is an absolute musical and lyrical genius! My father was the strongest man I know in so many ways. He was every cornerstone of my being/life. He passed on peacefully in -22 on the waining hour of my Birthday, after having endured physically and emotionally for over 20 years due to multiple strokes and other health challenges. It was a true blessing; so much so that I had yet to shed one tear, until I heard ‘Lanternlight! The combination of Tuomas’ yet another compositional and lyrical masterpiece and its manifestation by Floor and Troy finally opened my floodgates 💦💦😭 No amount of Finnish 🇫🇮 inner strength enhancing, emotion blocking, words (sisu, saatana, perkele) could hold back the desperately needed and necessary outpouring of emotions, reflections, remembrance, appreciation, flashbacks, re-lived joy and eternal love. Genuine happy tears do have healing powers! Tuomas, Floor, Nightwish, “Lanternlight” - Love❤️🔥and thank you to The G.O.A.T. IMHO, there has never been, there will never be, another Nightwish!
This song is written by Tuomas, as a ode to hes Father that passed away in 2021, Floor sings absolute beautiful on this, and Troy joining at end, perfect!! I lost my Father 6 years ago, and my mother 5 years ago, listening to this, will bring me memories of them, and a song of sadness, beauty and hope at same time, its a song i would consider a masterpiece, love it!! This was the first song Tuomas wrote for the new album Yesterwynde
This song could grow to a classic. A bit different Nightwish. Great reaction as always. I was waiting what you gonna say about this. Greetings from Finland.
I've been a fan of Floor for decades now. Since Forever After. She still amazes me to this day. The talent.. dedication.. talent 🤯 And on a side note.. this video reminded me what a natural beauty she is. In a world of fakeness. Cosmetic altercation. She is a breath of fresh air. Let alone her personality. If you dig into her background you'll be even more impressed 😮
This is one of my favourite songs off this album. It’s a sad song but if you really listen to the words it’s actually a celebration of those that have gone before us, a way to remember that though they may be gone physically they remain in our memories and the experiences we had with them. Such a beautiful song, and Floor songs magically on it. When Troy joins in it always tugs at the heartstrings.
Within roughly a year and change Floor did a solo album, started a tour on it, was simultaneously prepping for a NW tour, then diagnosed with breast cancer, had surgery and then chemo, got pregnant ,then started her solo and NW tours AT THE SAME TIME, at least once opening as Floor and closing the same show with NW while pregnant, and only stopped after collapsing backstage from exhaustion I think while maybe 7 months pregnant... 6 weeks after giving birth started recording the vocals for current NW album....the album containing this song... Serious Valkyrie spirit indeed, and has to have to have core muscles of steel to sign 6 weeks after birthing ...most have issues moving comfortably at all at that stage....
Lanternlight is breathtakingly gorgeous ❣️ Not able to listen to this with dry eyes, it goes straight to your soul. It’s so fragile and strong at the same time. What a gorgeous piece of music composed by Tuomas and so emotionally sung by Floor. Tuomas said that Lanternlight is a song of love to celebrate live of the people that passed. In this case mainly his dad I guess.
the soft like a pillow her voice and that piano sounds damn good holy smokes sounds like that warm embrace maybe its the person is like a lanternlight its your light that people see and comes close to you i feel its like an alpenglow
This is another Tuomas Holopainen masterpiece. He only keeps on getting better as his talent and vision matures. Absolutely stunning. This composition is as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava. I'm 73 and I am the last man standing in my family. I understand the loss, yet I still live with hope and intent. Nevertheless, Floor's voice and this composition is akin to an emotional depth charge to the heart. Her face, good Lord, her face so expressive and adorned with nothing save her heart and soul just melts me to my core. Some of you get it. Some of you don't. I do, and that's all that matters. Kiitos to all of you in Nightwish for delivering such epic and emotional story telling.
A Tribute to Tuomas' late father, and to all of us that have lost our parents, grand parents and all of those that came generations ahead of us. Sometime into the future, others from our families, will remember us, and how we effected their lives. Lanterlight
This song is deep and touches me deep. It‘s about the ones we lost but who are not fully gone. I`m in the light and flood I`m in the four winds I am the waves shaping pebbles flawless gems I am the snow on your palm When even Floor has teary eyes while recording the video …
This is the final song on the new album, and it ends with the film projector ending. The album started with a film projector as well, and the entire album is a concept album and meant to be listened to from start to finish.
”Please don’t be metal please don’t be…” Us: ”Yeah Yeah just press that play button and let’s continue ” 😉 Nightwish play what ever they want, they made a jazz/blues song years ago, and now it was a time for this kind of. Tuomas made this song after he lost his father during pandemic. This song is about memories of the guiding lights in your life. Those who has been taking care of you and guiding you even through the hard times.
Starting deep and low... This sounds like her solo album, I think Tuomas likes the variety of her singing. Floor said that she chokes up too easily with this song, the band rewinds, during the sessions, to let her recover. Mmm, the warmth of her voice. Reminiscences, love of the souls that have gone before. Tuomas wrote this in memory of his father. The pocket watch to wind... The old style film projector, a "Magic Lantern". The old flickering movies, like memories. Floor soaring away. Did you get the Tuomas déjà vu references? I am the snow on your palm [Storytime] I am the secret stream [Sagan, Shudder Before The Beautiful, Endlessness] Moss beneath your feet [My Walden] I am you who climbed off of my back [Our Decades in the Sun] Petrichor [The smell of fresh rain on grass, Last Ride Of The Day, Song of Myself] To the meadows I go [Meadows of Heaven] Then Troy drifts in with his soft voice, he made up the word, so his pronunciation, is our guide, _right at the end_ of the album. :)
Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song that for me empowers us to recognize our connection to nature and one another, ultimately signifying that even in times of uncertainty, despair & sorrow, there is beauty and hope to be found under the glow of the lanternlight. P.S. Their new album "Yesterwynde" is a sonic masterpiece.
3:34 "I honestly hope they keep it soft like this..". I honestly felt the same re: you rambling. You do you, as the saying goes. Right? Before the music started, you oozed "inner turmoil" already and gave a "reaction performance", more than anything else. Constantly drawing attention to your YT persona which I find extremely inauthentic. So I just knew you'd be talking over a very delicate & heartfelt song. Didn't quite anticipate it to be this much though. Perhaps one day you'll find the courage to drop the act and just let it be. Honestly.
You know what? She does gives me a weird vibe for some reason, i saw no emotion in her face too, not trying to be rude towards her, but yeah, first impression i suppose, idk.
I won't repeat the content already posted in other people's comments, I agree with most of it: great song, soft but dramatic... Beautiful instrumental arrangement, great pianist (I don't know if it's Tuomas or not) but I will add: that vocal duo Floor and Troy, and on top of that that musical alo - it sounded great, like "Seaman" Rammstein performed by Nina Hagen, I recommend it. These two songs have something in common...
Friend, this is not heavy metal, this is symphonic metal, these works of art are not found in heavy metal, symphonic metal takes the music to incredible dimensions, which is why you say that these ballads in metal surprise you.
Too much of your rambling through this delicate song. Yes, I know it's a reaction video and your opinions are ok. This song has a lot of emotion and it gets lost if interrupted. Tuomas, the maker and creator prefers to listen the songs without interruptions and I can see why. Nightwish isn't copyright crazy. And I guess it's just my personal preference when I prefer people to listen, pay attention and comment in the end. Especially in songs like this. Maybe with a faster song comments in a middle would be more ok but not in a heartfelt ballads like this. But your channel, your way....I was just annoyed. I couldn't finish the video. But no biggie. :)
@@TheVirtualWatcher erm....you´re right i should have add "music and feeling" to it, because that was it in my mind...and his wife sings wonderful btw :)
Yes so soft and delicate but yet so powerful. This is why Floor is truly one of the best vocalists of all time.
The most beautiful, soul gripping, heart hugging, moving, masterful celebration for and remembrance of Tuomas’, anyone’s, father 💙

This song is made for Tuomas' dad that sadly passed away a bit ago but with the making of this album. It is to celebrate, not feel sad.

Floor on top, we love here for her delivery (not to forget Troy) - very good song from Tuomas.
You never go wrong with Floor, piano and chellos :)

Lanterlight
Sounding like a snowflake doesn't sound weird to me. I get it. I always relate sounds to objects, colors, and smells.
Gives me winter vibes, almost classic Christmas music
Edit; wrote this 3 minutes in, she agreed with me at 6:30 lol

And the last word is Yesterwynde.
Hauntingly beautiful. Floor doing Floor things. It's perfect.
Compouser Tuomas Holopainen metal Mozart
"PERFECTION"....
even the way floor moves and expresses herself is so damn elegant
Her voice control is just phenomenal..as usual!
Mind blowing and her voice, and only classical instruments!

I reckon the word is 'vulnerable'. That's a tone you don't get from in Nightwish very often.
First listen, love nightwish

Exactly ..... I do think This is first time to hear Floor voice like Icy fragile bell , in her Shallow cover quite similar too
she was 6 weeks since gave birth when recorded the album
I agree that it has a light Enya feel to it, maybe with a touch of "The sound of Silence" (Disturbed version)
Hey your back, fantastic, our great Quo fan!!
Thanks❤❤❤
Maybe the greatest singer of all time
❤
This song feels like a wedding or first dance song
Enjoy every gray hair and wrinkle you get, enjoy your life's every second. All won't get that change.
Amazing 🌹
Why can't songs like this get attention in the US? Rhetorical question, but i can hope.
An Ocean of Strange Islands, next one :)

You should check Dead Boy's Poem by them, there's a live version on YT, it's beautiful and sad
Nice.
Floor. Well, Tuomas + Floor. But still....Floor.
Ohhhhhhh- I've been waiting for your take on this!

Really frustrating reaction, way too much talking over the music which kills the wonderful atmosphere that the band create so wonderfully.
It's a reaction. The original is there, if that's what you want to hear.
@jpdemer5 it's all good, I just unsubscribed, this channels not for me, no big deal

Please listen more and talk less, only when you paused the music.
Please do stop talking over the song so much
ya know, if you wanted to just watch the music video...
Isn’t the point of this to get the reactors opinions???? The song and video are available direct from Nightwish if that is what you want.
You talk waaaay too much!!!!!!!!
better stop the song and talk than talk so much during the song …
this song is great, but it would better fit on an Auri album imho
Why? Don't you like Floor singing it?
