Hi Ray - I can't wait for your reaction to An Ocean Of Strange islands - possibly the greatest Nightwish song written so far - that statement in itself incredible given I have been a NW fan for maybe 12 years now.

Remember my friend, everything has a conceptual metaphoric meaning in this music video. Even that Angler fish. That free diving in the deep dark ocean is representing the human experience. Searching the unknown which is our individual pursuit for happiness, fulfillment, and meaning to our existence. There are also unknown dangers all along the way. Even though we think of returning to the earth, we (humans) return from the water were according to evolution we all came from originally. Even now human babies are born from the amniotic fluid in the womb.

good reaction Ray .. the whole album is amazing .. not necessarily metal but all Tuomas

    Hi Rachel (Rachael?)...
The free diving is from freediver Guillaume Néry who has the footage on his own channel.
There is a lot in this video and in the song and you may have noticed among other things the curious ghosts of band members, Darwin's butterflies and of course you saw the ever present ocean theme that Tuomas loves so much (I'm glad he didn't follow his dream of becoming a marine biologist).
There is much more and all sorts of references - you'll find the "dust on their palms" alluded to in the last song on the album, Lanternlight for example. ("I am the snow on your palm" which also nods to Storytime's "Within the snowflake on his palm").
Every time I listen to the album (dozens at this point) a different song strikes me as favourite because there is so much in them, though I'm always looking forward to the beautiful Lanternlight at the end.
Ville Lipiainen has been producing NW videos for years and has used A Lovely Bunch of Coconuts brand for much of that.

A lovely bunch of coconuts is the company consisting of the current Nightwish members, CEO: good old drummer Jukka Nevalainen.
(I think the previous company with Marko in it was called "Oily Empire")

You know, Ray, one of the things I like about you, apart from the slightly zany side of your nature, is that your educated and knowledgeable. This reallh adds to the quality of your reactions. Especially where Nightwish are concerned.

To understand Tuomas' thoughts, you have to analyze the complete trilogy: Endless Forms Most Beautiful - Human :||: Nature - Yesterwynde. This is just a logical continuation. What will the next album be called? Maybe Tomorrowynde?! Who knows? I believe that even Tuomas doesn't know yet.

    Hey.
Greetings from the birthplace of northern shamans and Nightwish.
    Thanks for the great reaction.
When you know Tuomas, Empu and Nightwish's home landscapes and the regions where they were born, it is perhaps even easier to understand their stories and close relationship with nature, as well as our evolution into history.
In the end, we are all "one" and children of nature.
I don't know if you've already watched their
    "day of"
music video, but if you haven't watched it yet, I'd recommend getting to know one work (book) that I think Tuomas is referring to in the lyrics of the music.
    The book is
    George Orwell 1984.
Thanks for the good analysis and your reaction.
    All the best.
    Greetings Marko.

A lot of these shots are composites of real shots and CGI. For example, the free diver is real, but obviously there's no whale skeletons swimming around. Shots inside the museum are mixed with CGI of actions from other things like pulling books off the shelf, sea life, and butterflies. The museum has some very strict rules. Filming was highly restricted, even concerning the lighting and potentially bumping things. A lot of compositing. I don't think Angler fish get that big (I could be wrong). I remember listening to the video effects guy talk about all the various things and thinking how extensive it was. Since the free diving footage was older, it wasn't in 4K and so the decision was made that none of the video would be in 4K to avoid the jarring effect of switching back-and-forth.

I truly believe this song in particular (which is absolutely amazing) will end up being 1 of their most popular songs ever in the end! PS the underwater scenes of the diver come from the video "One Breath Around The World" - it's on YT - check it out!!

"A Lovely Bunch Of Coconuts" is actually Nightwish. It's the new name of their company, which includes all the current members of the band. Before Marko left, it was called "Oily Empire". And before Floor and Troy joined the band - "Scene Nation". Jukka Nevalainen, a former drummer, is the CEO of these companies.

    • @oqibidipo
      @oqibidipo 2 месяца назад +2

It's not a new name, it's a new company. Oily Empire and Scene Nation still exist as separate companies.

    • @SokolRock
      @SokolRock 2 месяца назад +3

@@oqibidipo Old companies are needed to manage old releases where previous members of the band participated. So on the one hand, you're right, but on the other hand, it's just a new legal name for the same band, created because one of the shareholders changed. They will no longer use the old companies for their current activities, so we can say that they just changed their name, although legally it's not correct.

    Here are Some probability calculations:
Step 1. Probability of boy meeting girl: one in 20,000.
Step 2. Probability of same boy getting same girl pregnant: one in 2,000.
Step 3. Probability of right sperm meeting right egg: one in 400 quadrillion.
Step 4. Now let's assume you have only those 12 generations of ancestors mentioned in the intro to this issue.
Because the chances that each of those 12 generations of your ancestors successfully reproduced with that sperm cell
meeting the right egg cell, is 400 quadrillion to the 12th power.
Given these 4 steps, the probability of you being born at this time is 20,000 x 2,000 x 400 quadrillion to the 13th power.
If we go back in time with even more generations of your ancestors, we soon reach a probability
of 1 divided by the number of atoms in the entire universe. This makes each of us a unique miracle.🌌

If you really want to blow your mind, consider that if you continue to do the maths of doubling the number of ancestors every generation, at somewhere between 25 - 30 generations back, you actually get to a number that is bigger than the population of the planet at the time. 🤯 Your welcome 🙂

The concept explained in the intro is why many people call it selfish for modern young adults to not want children; there’s thousands of years of humans reproducing generation after generation that has led to us being here right now, not continuing the bloodline because we ‘don’t feel like it’ is an insult to everyone who came before
