Very good song, amazing video. We are because of a million loves. Not one of our fathers died young, we few that won the lottery of birth. Let’s make the most of it. That was Troy singing at the end . Nice job! Keep exploring Nightwish!

We are because of a million loves
We're the Perfume of the Timeless
Last sighs on a death bed'

Troy grew up in the folk scene. In 2007 he became a guest musician with Nightwish for the folk part. His role continues to grow after that. In 2013 he became a member of the band with Floor:

Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards) our metal Mozart and our Finnish national treasure (yes I live in Finland). I cannot say too much of him, how good song writer he is. I have to recommend to you documents about Tuomas. Please react those also. For example "Please Learn The Setlist In 48 Hours" and fan Q&A-Tuomas Holopainen and other you can find a lot in internet. He is so humble and nice polite person you can find. I was at their concert last June and I tell you, if you ever have a chance seeing them live go!

The singer at the end was Troy Donockley, the multi-instrumentalist (flutes, bagpipes, guitar, ..;). He became a full member of nightwish at the same time Floor did, back in 2013. He took the role of second voice after Marko left. The theme of the new album is very much furthering the same themes Tuomas started in Endless forms most beautifull and human nature. Can't wait for you to see the greatest show on earth, which is the final number of Endless forms. You'll start to see the links when you do. one of the most amazing songs ever composed. Great react and see you down the line.

I am very glad that you saw and heard Nightwish as it is now, as a new step in your exploration. You are right, their creation provokes thought, which is a rare phenomenon in contemporary music. I think this explains to a good extent the attachment of the fans, because we are left not only with the memory of some musical harmonies, but also with ideas. And many of us (including me) can testify that these ideas are good, because there were difficult moments in our lives when we actually treated ourselves with their music..

Mrs. Coach is right, this is like a mini movie. That was multi instrumentalist Troy Donockley singing at the end. You've only seen him once so far (in 7 Days to the Wolves). He has sung with NW before, but mostly harmonies. His vocal role has expanded since Marko left in 2021, this is the 1st album since then.
Knew it would be great, but we got way more than I expected. I've seen this a few dozen times already, and still finding details.
The new album is called Yesterwynde( due out Sep 20) , it is the 3rd in an album trilogy, along with Endless Forms Most Beautiful and Human:II:Nature, all dealing with life, science, evolution, etc. You haven't done anything from those 2 albums yet. Check out EFMB songs like "Shudder Before the Beautiful", "Weak Fantasy", and "The Greatest Show On Earth". Those will give you a better idea of the themes. All 3 were played at Tampere 2015 and Wembley 2015.

I once saw a reactor say that there is no such thing as a stupid Nightwish fan, and it's true. Another Tuomas masterwork, another Nightwish video by Ville (and therefore excellent).
troy is singing a bit more now so I hope he'll have a bigger part on Westerwynde.
Lots in here. The circle of life (Tuonas evolving from the apes near the beginning and cycling round to feed into the new life of a tree at the end), Darwin's butterfly, the whales including acwhale skeleton passing the diver. Tuomas' love of the ocean is ever-oresent. As a would-be marine biologist when he was young, he has always had ocean references in much of his music and this video brings it back again.
The ghosts of the band ("curious ghosts" in the library of Darwin books) ate a nice touch, and reoresentative of those invisible reminders (lingering perfumes) of our ancestors ("the timeless").
There is much, much more in the video and the lyrics to unpack. Chapters could be written on this song and Ville's video. I think only Tuomas Holopainen could write this

If you would like more of a psychological/lyric breakdown, head to Rosalie Elliott aka Rosalie Reacts youtube channel. You can fast forward through the music and just get the back half with the lyric breakdown or just watch. Time consuming but she's really insightful. Troy sings backing and duet parts with Tuomas's hunny Johanna in Auri sometimes. Think it's Desert flower that I really loved. I don't know how Tuomas manages to have a side project in writing all this, but he somehow does, al biet, doesn't drop albums for it as often. He can sing pretty nice, too, but prefers his keyboards and writing. Glad you're on the Nightwish train :)

I'm glad you did. Although I have to admit, the sensitive ones show their feelings with tears - which is a good thing too!! Nightwish and Babymetal got me through the Pandemic - I lost an Uncle and so did my Wife from Covid. Music definitely helps and aids in the healing process. Thanks again. David from London. My fellow Englishman Troy Donockley is the voice at the end😊

Nice reaction! If I may give you an advice, look at the lyrics while you are reacting. It really helps understanding the song and in my opinion adds a lot to the experience because between the big sounds and the operatic voice it's hard to understand what they're saying at a first listen. Cheers from Italy!

Hallo Coaches 😁, you both are so lovely 😄! What a wonderful idea: RUclips as a heritage, an album of life. Tuomas Holopainen would surely appreciate this 👍. How fragile pure existence can be. My Grandmother ( mom's mom ) was born 1909 ( german "Kaiserreich" ) as a German in Lithuania, nothing special, normal, but important: it was the reason for her big Escape! WW1. Lithuania > Ostpreussen ( engl. ?, sorry 😶). Weimarer Republik, WW2 > 3. Reich. Seven Children, hard for her to survive > six Children. War OVER 😥. Somewhere in the German Democratic Republic, East Germany, Socialism. 60th, the last (?) big Escape, right thru the " Iron Curtain ". Dangerous. Only my Mom ( youngest of the bunch ) and her next Sis with Husb came with her. Was a wild ride but " finally " BERLIN, West Germany. There a Choice was offered to them. Stay in Germany or go to Canada or Australia. And mom wanted to become a " waltzing matilda " 🤣, while my Oma choose to stay as close as possible to her Offspring that choose to stay on the other side of that cruel, deadly boarder, because they believed into this system. Do not judge them! 😪😮 To make long things short ☝️🤣: ONE word, YES instead NO and i would never had existed, ALIVE. Puhh 😥, THANK god Holopainen is alive and a bit better Storyteller than me! But one breeze of wind can change the world and make an eagle hunt a deer. There is a funny episode of THE SIMPSONS in wich Homer travels thru Time 😱😂, excellent, i bet C. DARWIN would be a fan. So 😌, Thank you for your reaction and Greetings from Germany and, ofcourse, EMPPU RULES 🙂🤘 alex 🤗 B.t.w. it was only a Short Story of my Oma's struggles until she was able to settle down and find rest.

Great song, great video, great reaction!!
The title of album Yesterwynde is actually a non exiting word that Troy came up with.
Yesterwynde is the opening track on new album, i belive its only like a intro, its a little over 2 min long, #2 on album then is a almost 10 min song, thats proberly another epic!! #3 is where i think they bring in a heavy track, and this Perfume of the timeless is #5.. so i think its gonna be a good mix of heavy songs, Epics, and maybe a full balled..
Perfume of the timeless, well its almonst a ghost energy song right, telling all these ancestors is perfume around in a timeless world, being around you still, also a message that your existens matters!! i feel tuomas also put in a little message that mankind could do better still, Einstein turn to ape..
I listened to this song maybe 50 times by now, and it is one i like to listen to with my headphones or without, its really a good song, when i can do so to me.
cant wait for rest of album!!
    "Perfume of the Timeless"
    Released: 21 May 2024
The title of the album is a word made by band member Troy Donockley, which Holopainen describes as the feeling of time, history, memory, and being connected to past generation, who have "all had their lives, their ups and downs, and they don't exist anymore, except as atoms scattered all over the universe. And we're going to be in that state pretty soon as well. So that should give you something to think about."
Holopainen has described the album as being about humanism, history, and the inspiration ]

    Some probability calculations:
Step 1. Probability of boy meeting girl: one in 20,000.
Step 2. Probability of same boy knocking up same girl: one in 2000.
Step 3. Probability of right sperm meeting right egg: one in 400 quadrillion.
Step 4. Now lets assume that you have just those 12 generations of ancestors mentioned in the intro to this song. For the probability of every one of those 12 generations of your ancestors having reproduced successfully with right sperm having met the right egg is 400 quadrillion to the 12th power.
Given these 4 steps, the probability of you being born you at the present moment is 20k x 2k x 400 quadrillion to the 13th power. Going backwards in time with even more generations of your ancestors, we soon reach a probability of 1 divided by the number of atoms in the entire universe. This makes each one of us a unique miracle.

Hey Coach and mrs. Coatch 😉 As always, great reaction! I don't know if one of you spotted the shot of Albert Einstein immediatly followed by a bee? I was kinda confused by that, how does Einstein relate to the bee? I wanted to know that, after some searching, it became clear tome. It was Einstein, back in 1965, who came up with this quote; “If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.” So yes, Nightwish really makes you think!

Alan Dean Foster is a big fan of Nightwish's music, the famous American fantasy and science fiction writer who applied his writing talent to such hits as Star Wars and Star Trek, maintains a music section on his blog, he also introduces his subscribers with young and talented artists.
"There are many good singers, fewer great singers, and a very small number who are unique singers. Diana is a natural dramatic contralto. This is the lowest range for a female singer. She is also polyphonic. Roughly, this means that when she sings she often sounds like more than one person singing at once. As you can imagine, the combination is extraordinary. So too is her full range.
Singers at age 14 can do things that astonish us. Witness the careers of Jordan and the Dutch prodigy Amira Willighagen. But even when included in this company there is something special about Diana. I love the performances of the two singers I just mentioned, but they are (perfectly) controlled and measured. Diana is more akin to a force of nature. One of the most common descriptions of her performances is “shamanistic.” Some of this has to do with the remarkable timbre of her voice, some with the sheer intensity of her performing. In this she is closer to Floor Jansen. With both women you can see as well as hear the intensity, the emotion, contained with both the lyrics and the music. A duet between the two would be something magical."
I also recommend checking out the top vocalist, the most unique and incredibly talented Diana Ankudinova.
