  • This is episode 247 of Mike Finnegan's Garage and I owe you all an apology. Last weekend while I was off racing I accidentally sent the wrong footage to my editor. He edited an unboxing video that I had already uploaded to the channel. Late at night I watched his edit and it seemed familiar to me so I quickly looked back at the videos I had recently put on the channel. I didnt see the same video and just chalked up the feeling that I had already uploaded the video to the fact that I was in the video and that's why it seemed familiar. I even made a new thumbnail for the video not realizing that I was about to uploaded the same episode for a second time. The really funny thing is that somebody else edited the first version of this video so editor number 2 had no clue he was working on something I had already used. Anyway, I put the video on the channel and went racing and it wasn't until later that day that I ran into a fan who said I had uploaded the same video twice! So, I'm an idiot! Well, here's the episode I was filming while showing you guys old footage. My bad! Hope you enjoy this one a little bit more. It was taken at the National Jet Boat Association May Madness event in Bakersfield, California.
You can get more info about racing at www.njbaracing...
Some of the awesome footage we used for this vid came from Ashely Box of Elite Reels. You can check out more of her stuff here: / elitereels_
The cool thumbnail image came from my friend Mark McLaughlin and you can see more of his incredible images here: / photomarkm

My opinion on the motor... Do the work to Game Over's engine, it's at your house and not across the county. Then you can enjoy the rest of the season with Sidechick's engine. Over the winter, donthe engine swap, sell the hopefully healthy 632 and the Sonny Leonard engine lives on in another Jet Boat.

I once saw at least 20 men with shaved heads and beards all in deck shoes, khaki shorts and polo necks at a yachting club, while every one of their wives was in a floral white/cream sun dress with a big hat and sandals, I couldn't even stay in the room I couldn't keep a straight face, it was like a cut rate clone factory that couldn't quite get it right.

I stumbled upon a small group on the beach with an unreal red and white Roger's drag boat. I was drinking then so memory is cloudy and i cant say for sure. But i believe it was you who gave me a ride past the bridge back to campground where i launched. If it was you ir not, says something about jet boaters, (mostly great guys!) Super cool dude and the sickest jet boat i had ever been in. Anyway...

Look into hydro friction. the lengthwise bulges in the hull are there to trap air because air has less friction than water on hull contact. There are ways to induce that also, by making wedges in the hull (many boats have that especially towards the edges where its harder to trap air against the bulges). A lot of home-made hulls (and even professionally made hulls) don't take friction into account because they think smoother hull is faster.

25:46 So what i think happened was coz the exhaust valve wasn't opening it was pushing the gases from the combustion cycle out of the intake valve when it was opening for the next intake cycle. This meant that there was backpressure trying to close the valve as it was opening and that has led to the failure.

Also, the guys that beat you likely floored it as much as you did, but they suffered cavitation on the prop in the start (even jets have cavitation), and you suffered less of it. So its in the mid to late race you need power, not the start. So a carbon bottle of pre-compressed air (that has been allowed to cool down) could be all you need. Nitrous is really just chemical gunpowder, its oxygen content doesn't really add to the fuel+air mixture, whereas if you just had some more cold air to give the engine your ECU could recognize it and up the fuel a bit and the engine is just as pristine after the race.

Guys, he would need to at least do a cam in the sonny big block. It was setup for boost, it needs some expensive parts to make it work good na.
He really just needs a set of good heads on the 632

      The Boss 9 is a Hemi .
Or Kasse could build him a Drag Hemi ... problem is they r a non water deal & wouldn't work out 2 good .
      The BOSS 9 4Me.
      I have a bbc at home 🏡 4 a 19ft daytona. 461 cu inch . Lee intercooler. 871 race blower with a plazzmann intake manifold. ( like a mini tunnel ram )
Combo is only good 4 900 hp .
But after listening 2 Jon Kasse take about bbf in the last 6 months 😢 l would have never purchased the bbc .
A Boss 9 , 632 inch . Plazmann mini tunnel ram intake. 5 inch Whipple Intercooler & 8.3 ltr Whipple Supercharger with either a Injection Hat on top or these sensational carburetors out of the USA 🇺🇸

Without forced air induction you’ll always run into problems at higher altitudes when competing against other boats with superchargers or turbochargers. Good luck!

Nitrous can provide the oxygen that the air lacks.

    • @P-J-W-777
      @P-J-W-777 Год назад

@@funkingitup1805 yes and while I agree it has its downsides as well. You have to constantly refill the bottle and you have to maintain the bottle at the proper temperature in order to get the best results. You also have to really stay on top of it or it will take your engine out. People would lose a lot of engines back in the day before the advent of computer controlled nitrous systems. One of the big reasons I prefer forces induction via supercharger/blower or turbo/turbos.

PPS: Couldn't you just compress some air and stick some dry-ice on it, and use that as air more and more as you go down the track? Nitrous is HOT burning and its true energy addition is because of the N2O molecule breaking down and causing heat, not because it adds oxygen, so some regular old compressed air that will be COOL when injected into the intake, will do a lot more than nitrous without needing you to take compression out of it.
