    I think the Athena is the better option of the two because your biggest cons for pulldowns (the angle of pull and not being able to secure yourself down) could be simply mitigated by combining both stacks and sitting between the uprights. You could use something like the Darko Lifting Longy Bar or even something like the double hook straight bar from Bells of Steel to connect both pulleys, then use leg rollers on the front uprights to secure yourself down like you would doing pulldowns on an Ares. Plus, combing the two stacks would allow you to go heavier without having to use a gym pin/bands as much. Clear winner imo

    Hi, I just got a Rep Fitness PR4000 30+16 and tried incline and shoulder for first time today. I'm 6'4 and 260lb and not the widest guy but I felt my elbows hitting the safeties. I'm not sure I like it. I've heard others like to bench and shoulder outside the rack with spotter arms and curious your opinion? At my gym I never used spotters for bench and shoulder so not sure why I am here. I like the DC training method which is 8-10 reps rest 25 secs 4-6 reps rest and 1-3. Since weight isn't near 1 rep max not sure I need all the safeties never used them before.

    • @NoFate247
      @NoFate247  Год назад +1

      Always use safeties, regardless of the weight. You never know when something might blow out and you don't want that weight crashing down on you. As far as hitting your elbows, that's surprising, but you are probably wider than you give yourself credit for. Are you placing the safeties correctly and which safeties do you have? You can workout outside your power rack with safeties arms but I'd always try to stay inside when possible. Also, if you used my link to buy your PR let me know so I can send you a thank you gift.

When you think about it, chest flys are really the only great exercise that you can do with the Athena that you can't do with the Lat Pulldown/Low Row. Are chest flys really worth the extra $1000ish? You will find lateral raises a bit of a problem too on the pull down low row. Also the lat pull down will be 6-9 inches behind your uprights where as the athena fits inside your uprights. @NoFate247 bro I been really thinking about getting ares and just selling my selectorized lat pull down, my functional trainer and my titan foldable x3 rack which I ne er fold anyways. Don't know if I will like everything in one rack though🙄 but ares looks nice
      So iam debating pretty much between the pr4000 with selectorized lat pull down attachment and keeping my FT or ares. U wanna be able to add abully glider to make my own belt squat and replicate rhino:) I don't think I will be able to with ares. Don't like their belt squat:(.

      @@futbol1972 Go Athena and keep the selectorized Lat Pull down, can you get the 90 inch PR4000 (Tall Boy)

      @NoFate247 that's a good idea. What's the advantage of having the tall pr4000 as opposed as the 80"? Also wouldn't be better to get the pr5000 instead of pr4000?

      @@futbol1972 Pr5000 is great and a tad more stable and might offer better astetics. But it isn't going to work "better" than the 4000 and the steel thickness is the same, and so are the colors. But 4000 is less money and so are the attachments. Tall power rack gives you more options and more height for attachements. Also makes it easier to do lat pull downs on the athena or ares.

    What about the best of both? Could you put the lat/low-row on a 6-post 4000, and add an Athena stack to one side … plus that provides the ability for two to use cables at the same time?

      You might want to go with the higher priced Athena if you were going to do both
