This scene is fantastic; what actor wouldn’t want their screen death to be in a location like that, killed by the ultimate Bond villain, and with the London symphony orchestra in full flow as he kills you!
For any doubters this is an establishing scene, set to show the power and strength of Jaws, no coincidence that Nadim Sawalha was chosen to play him and Fekkesh was written as a nervous character. Superb casting and a good performance from Sawalha.
"I am a faithful warden at the foot of his Lord. So faithful, so vigilant, so near him that he gave me his face for my own. I am a Pharaoh's companion and I am he, the Pharaoh..." -Charles Gray
Blofeld was supposed to be in TSWLM - but alas legal issues stopped that from happening - so I'm wondering if they were initially going to Charles Gray back as Blofeld, and this Pyramid narration was a way of compensating him for the disappointment.
Fun fact: Jaws' teeth were originally supposed to be more shark-like, but they made Richard Kiel's mouth bleed, so they redesigned the teeth as more cog-like.
I’d imagine he didn’t think Jaws had a means of getting past the padlock & chain and that a gun shot (at the padlock) would have raised an alarm. How is being alone in a padlocked room making yourself vulnerable?
Hey... I am perfectly safe among 1000 people but let me instead freak out, leave them all, run into the darkness one on one with Jaws, and then trap myself, instead!
I have a 007 calendar that has all dates related to 007 films: movoe opening dates, birthdays of actors, trivia, etc. That calendar has only one reference to a date taken from a movie and that is "August 3rd: Bond meets Kalba" I found interesting that apparently no other date reference appears in 007 movies. That calendar was very well made. It was for the year 2000 so doesn't include Die Another Day or any of the Daniel Craig films. I sometimes watch this movie evening of August 3rd, just as a nice trivia reference :)
This is one of my favourite sequences in this film. My second favourite is when Bond and Anya are trying to get away from Jaws. Bond says "Do you want me to drive?" And "Can it play any other tune?" And "Try reverse, that's backwards". The music in this really gets to me. It's interesting how the film builds up to the sequence where the Liparus gets sunk. This is the first bond film that features Jaws. The second one is Moonraker. I have the books of these films and I have all the bond films on DVD
The scary music when Jaws is revealed is classic lol. @@matthewdavidjarvis6039 Those do sound reasonable, especially the first. As the second to me is he should've hidden behind the pillar instead of being infront.
Besides panic which is very plausible, there is also the advantage of darkness, as after the show, with lights on, Jaws would follow him anywhere. Yet I also have another thought: He tells Anya he will be back soon and he obviously lies as he is about to dissapear. He also doesn't disclose to her that he spots Jaws. So I think he also decides not to give more information, either by regret either considering that very meeting a trap
It has been a life long dream of mine to holiday in Egypt I hope one day it will come true to stand in that desert and see the pyramids that have stood the test of time and have been there for over 5 thousand years where a civilization and history took place and so much history I know and have studied since I was a little girl fascinating I'm just hooked on it and still am now I want to be there where it all happened many centuries ago and tell people what I know if they ask anything about the ancient Egyptians and the people and the Pharoahs of the 31 dynasties that ruled Egypt there are many of them

I like Jaws and he's my favourite character because he's with his henchmen in the car for kill and chase James Bond and Anya Amasova but James Bond put Jaws in the water and Jaws tried to kill shark and Jaws escape from Atlantis and swimming and back for revenge Bond for what bond did to him in The Spy Who Loved Me and Jaws is back for revenge to fighting James Bond but Jaws is dressed up clown and tried bite Manuela in Carnival and henchman help Jaws to move Cable car for kill James Bond and Holly Goodhead but James Bond and Holly Goodhead jumping out from Cable car and henchman and Jaws is scared of Cable car is going to crash in Moonraker. I love The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker because it's makes me laugh all time 😂

No. He was supposed to bite into him, and kill him with his metal teeth. How he got metal teeth is a whole different story, and way beyond me. All I know is that this Richard Kiel dude made me laugh in both Bond movies.
Fekkesh was a lot safer sat next to XXX and with bond sat close by... With all those tourists sat there as well.... First saw this aged 11 in 2002 i thought it was a bit creepy when he locked himself in and jaws broke in and uh oh....oh no But would you believe for that little playground kids play fight scene Roger Moore had a stunt double.... Hahahaha just shows how shit he truly was as Bond
They turned bond into a horror movie, the lights going on and off,the distant narration, the chase
Made jaws all the more menacing
“I’ll be back-I need to place myself in a locked room where I can’t escape!”
I don't think he expected Jaws to be able to bite through metal chains.

the same actor, Nadim Sawalah, got killed in the same place in another film, called Sphinx
I wonder if they actually do night shows like this in Egypt.. looks like a pretty cool experience
They do. I originally posted this after I visited and saw the show.
@@sturdy1171 With 007 beating some henchmen? Lol
Well they actually do but the one I saw was in Greece. It was about the unknown Greek soldier & believe it or not, it was better than this
Funny enough you say this Christian Dior just recently hosted a pyramid show looking just like this it looked like a masterpiece

Classic cinema moment.
Frightening stuff, stunning cinematography..bond saga at its very best
probably the best bond movie ever 1 of me faves along with golden gun for your eyes only and thunderball
Such a cool fight scene and i dont know why....probably its that touch of WWF in it
I’m sure this was a hat tip to Hammer Horror. Frankenstein’s monster, Dracula and The Mummy. Certainly in a Hammer style.
