Found it always hilarious that their camera work had to work around the fact that Moore didn't like shooting and closed his eyes while doing it. When you take a closer look at his shooting scenes you can see that there's always a cut when he's shooting. Like the other massive army fight in YOLT this one may look impressive but is massively flawed on a logical base. Prison is barely protected, same with the weapon storage. They basically invite the prisoners to break out, arm themselves and raid the entire ship. The command center might be well protected but outside of that, this is no security concept at all. YOLT did that a bit better as the attackers had to come from outside and had to suffer massive losses. They would have even failed without help from inside. Still, it always bothered me that the praised Ninjas got slaughtered and didn't seem to be very competent in that movie. The only mass fight scene I really like is the warehouse raid from "FyEo" where you have actual competent fighters.
One thing I've never seen firmly established is when the Liparus starts blowing up, if its from battle damage or from as I suspect is more likely the case a self-destruct mechanism
The one who said leave it to me sir ,was in Moonraker , when the airplane blew up , after the space shuttle took off. One thing about bond , film back then , there like to use the same actors or actresses a few times and think we have not noticed it.playing a different character. For a different James bond
Note, with the exception of the Russian sailors, the American and British sailors all got weapons of their respective nations. British went for Sterling SMGs and the Americans for M16s. If the weapons master could obtain them, I'm sure PPSh's, AKs Tokarevs, and Makarovs would be present and the Russians going for them.
Was watching this tonight on DVD & caught something I hadn't noticed before. I came here to get a better stop-action view, and was lucy to find the exact scene. Yes, the opening ship kidnapping the ships, this time submarines, both in effort to start war with US and Russia, the red monorail cars, the releases of the prisoners, the shootouts, and the "impregnable shutters"!
"Release the other crew and head to the armory". Assuming they even know where that is given they've been locked up the entire time. Got to love how bad these sailors are at gun battles, no taking cover, no firing from the shoulder, surprisingly adept at using firearms that likely weren't British issued and grenades without training.
they’re crew in a submarine, im no expert but im almost positive they didn’t have any training at all with guns, and also that gun is better at firing from the hip based one that grip and where the ammo is placed
Think of it this way. They were crews on a nuclear submarine. The submarines had nuclear missiles ,as well as all of the equipment & codes that would have been used to launch the missiles. Under the circumstances,I would definitely have given the crews extensive weapons training ...both in how to use weapons & what to do if captured. Those submarines would have been a great capture for any terrorist group during the Cold War.. as well as a high source of knowledge for either side. The Soviets would have definitely wanted to capture an American or British submarine with nuclear missiles,& we would have definiteky wanted to capture one of theirs. Just a historical reminder.. much of what the United States & especially Britain learned about the secret codes from Nazi Germany came from recovering captured code machines & their code books. So,it would be inportant to prevent your opponent from recovering any of that material.
That's one thing that's missing from modern Bond films...massive set scenes with tons of extras.

1. Live and let die
2. The spy who loved me
3. Octopussy
4. Moonraker (Not easy, if 3 or 4)
5. The man with the golden gun
6. For your eyes only (not easy,5or6)
7. A view to a kill.
But i like them all, even "A view to a kill" is okay. Not the best, but also not so bad, like peoples say often. (I'm from Germany, so sorry for my bad language).
@@lisakellerman7701 Your English is fine Lisa and I love my German cars I have had several BMWs, Roger Moore Bonds are our favourites with Moonraker top of the list my husband would like to be in the space battle for some reason I always imagine him spinning off into space screaming lol.
1. Moonraker
2 The spy who loved me
3. Live and let die
4. Octopussy
5. The man with the golden gun.
6.A view to a kill
7. For your eyes only
We have been watching them all over the holidays I'm not to sure on Daniel Craig he might grow on me.
@@gina7288 Hi. Thank you for the compliment on my language. I am happy that you like Germany and our cars 🙂
That with your husband is funny 😃 Moonraker is really great too. I like the story in space and the carnival scene in Rio and especially Jaws! The story with the girlfriend is just cute. And who would have thought Jaws Bond would ever help? I really liked that.
I was born in 1996 and grew up with Daniel Craig, so to speak. Maybe that's why I like him so much. After that I would definitely choose Roger Moore.
I didn't thought, that anyone but me would take "For your eyes only" as the 6th film out of the 7 films or finally. Because almost everyone says, FYEO is the second best Bond movie from Roger, after TSWLM.
@@lisakellerman7701 Your welcome Lisa Germany is a beautiful country, I do have a thing for Roger Moore he was very handsome Daniel Craig is growing on me, we watched Moonraker recently I love the locations and was happy when Jaws fell in love and became a good guy, as usual my husband said he would of liked to be in the space battle and I asked him what if you got hit? He just said he would be screaming as he went spinning off, I do laugh imagining it lol and a bit horrified he said he would sound like the guy spiralling towards the sun, it was just sad that Jaws wasn't in any more Bond films we might watch some Daniel Craig ones on Saturday night and happy new year Lisa 🍾
Oh and I'm old I was born in 1972.

Officer - “Leave it to me, Sir”
*Runs up the stairs and gets shot*
Bond - “Bruh!”
Commander Bond, could we perhaps have a 15min compilation of your best, smoothest, most charming and flirtatious engagements with the ladies?
This is my 3rd favourite bond film, my top 2 favourite film are 1 Licence to kill and 2 Moonraker! This film is just so good to watch. I'm not as keen on the new bond series, although I do watch them sometimes. In my opinion the original formula worked the best for me. MY 4th favourite bond film is Diamonds are forever because of the quote, "That's most annoying!" by mr wint and mr kid when they have just murdered someone and they send someone to stop the hit, too late it would seem!
I love the heedless tossing of grenades
All emotions in one pack is called ,007🔫 ..fear,fun, fight,fire , forgiveness,forgery, forgetting,fast forward , foreign , fantastic,....🖖👏✌️👍👌🙏
The only mass fight scene I really like is the warehouse raid from "FyEo" where you have actual competent fighters.
still a great movie regardless
One thing I've never seen firmly established is when the Liparus starts blowing up, if its from battle damage or from as I suspect is more likely the case a self-destruct mechanism
3:25 leave it to me sir his fatal words.
At least he took the initiative that's all you can ask from a sailor and a soldier
always loved the 007 soundstage used for this tanker scene. wonder how much explosive charges used for the shootout scene
The one who said leave it to me sir ,was in Moonraker , when the airplane blew up , after the space shuttle took off. One thing about bond , film back then , there like to use the same actors or actresses a few times and think we have not noticed it.playing a different character. For a different James bond
I can't stand the Modern James Bond movies without the techy stuff
Note, with the exception of the Russian sailors, the American and British sailors all got weapons of their respective nations. British went for Sterling SMGs and the Americans for M16s. If the weapons master could obtain them, I'm sure PPSh's, AKs Tokarevs, and Makarovs would be present and the Russians going for them.
3:24 same guy plays Richard in Moonraker.
This is easily the best action scene the series had at this point, love the score as well.
@F P No, it is an improvement on that.
@F P atleast this movie is way better than you only live twice..
That disco that kicks in when they move out is all business
Was watching this tonight on DVD & caught something I hadn't noticed before. I came here to get a better stop-action view, and was lucy to find the exact scene. At 1:15 the British sub crew raids the 1st armory, stocked with Stens at 1:18 At 1:21 the U.S. sub crew raids the 2nd armory and it is stocked with M-16's at 1:23. Anyone else notice this? This had to be deliberate product placement for advertising, like the Lotus car, the Kawasaki Z-1 motorcycle and the Bell Jet Ranger helicopter. Was the speeedboat that took them to see Stromberg a Scaraab? Who made that early-model wet-bike/jet-ski, was that a Kawasaki also? This film has a lot going on in the details, all over the place, lol!
3:18 The look one crewman gives to the other: "That's OK. We never liked the bastard."
This scene still hasn't been topped in a Bond movie since.
"The Living Daylights"'s Soviet Air Force Base raid came pretty close followed by "Moonraker"'s battle in outer space for me IMO.
Yeah they're both good, as is the You Only Live Twice end battle in the Volcano@@andrewdepedro4182
@@andrewdepedro4182 they were both good but the Moonraker put too many Marines in space, the shuttle could only hold 16 guys! its dated badly, this has not
Ever had a day where you’re like 1:37?
1:37 when I see my tinder matches
Lmao my wife laughed at his death throes and scream then said Ewww poor lad
That was how I impersonated being machine gunned to death all through my "childhood" (entire life really to date).
The jump at 1.33!!..
And the poor guys dive after at 1:37
1:37 that would of been me. Lol
😂😂😂😂 2:39 and there's me
@@MajorT0m my wife cracked up at some of the screams lol but I did admit if I was getting riddled with bullets or fried I would of sounded the same lol.
@@georgie1246 That poor young man how could she laugh I think most blokes would of screamed.
One of the few times in the series where it didn't matter if you were British, Soviet or American. Survival was key and wouldn't have stood a chance if ideological differences prevailed. How when they escape the Liparus going down, there's Soviet sailors on the USS Wayne too. No man left behind, except the two poor buggers swimming after the sub.
Confused Chef at 0:44 "Which way to the galley? I'll knock us up some cheesy wambams and shit on a raft!" At 1:37 The PO Wtr's bought it Sir! I'll start writing the EPICs up..." Angry LMEM at 1:45 - years of frustration released - "Now YOU can check the bastard STP!"
3:25 (thinks; my OJAR is a bit shit, I'll definitely bump my OPGs up a few grades if I can pull this off! 3:45 Bugger...I should have just gone to quarterlies!")
I love how the Sterling MPs at 1:18 come without a magazine and noone is ever seen reloading 😄
This scene is basically why my love of 007 movies motivated me to beat Time Crisis at the arcade with only one credit.
Only thing this sequence is missing is John Barry's music. I adore Sir Ken Adam's set design. I love this fight and the whole TSWLM.
Fabulous set.

Now that we have Spacecraft that can land on a dime/sixpence, the volcano scene in You Only Live Twice is so much more believable.....
BRUTAL BATTLE!!!!
Very good job dudes and nicely well done!! Congratulations 994.14% yo throughout the 3rd sizzling patriotic week of said amazing August y'all. Many people picked up one of my top Bond battles. I love how the American, British, and Soviet sailors selflessly fight together to prevent global devastation. It's 1941 all over again!
the jeep that blows. you can see the stunt man poised to jump ready as it explodes
I think we just figured out where Christopher Nolan got the ending for The Dark Knight Rises.
Where exactly do you feel they took idea? I am trying to figure that.
The final battle between the police and Bane's men.
Favorite Roger Moore Bond movie!
Someone should have done their homework. 593 was the hull number of the USS Thresher (SSN 593) which was lost on April 10, 1963
That set was nicknamed the 'Jonah Set' so called for the Biblical character of Jonah who was swallowed by a whale, hence the set of the Liparus tanker that literally swallows submarines.
Adding Marvin Hamlisch’s music Bond 77 is awesome!
It would appear that the red suits in this film found new employment in the 1983 television series "V". 😊😊
Imagine Stromnberg going once day to his workers and saying that from this day you are becoming my own soldiers.
Great action scenes from a fine film-Roger Moores best Bond. R.I.P.
The best scene in the universe
The best Moore Bond film.
007 is the coolest!
classic sequence
0:32 You know it’s about to go down
I Love You Roger Moore James Bond My Sweetheart Darling ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Hi I see you here posting anytime when Roger Moore appears on this channel. There is nothing wrong with that. I just want to ask you, have you ever seen The Quest? Jean Claude Van Dam stars in the film but Roger Moore plays in it too. The movie came out in 1996 or 97. I think you should check it if you can.
@@greatwuta I can see that.
I will.
Thank you so much.
This fight scene preceded Static-X by 22 years when it came to "keeping disco evil".
Roger Moore was very funny and also the most handsome Bond. I like all the movies that he did but this one is definitely his Gold finger.
James Bond and Scott Tracy team up!
Be funny if bond said F.A.B to Shane Rimmer here lol
A BOND SO BADASS DARK THAT HE CHOOSES NUCLEAR MISSILES AGAINST HIS OPPONENTS! AND THEY CALL MOORE'S MOVIES CAMPY & CHEESY LOL!! 🍷
The previous three entries in the series were comedies. The Spy Who Loved Me featured comedy but it was a thriller first and foremost.
You thought Live And Let Die and Man With The Golden Gun are comedies?
I’d hardly call Live and Let die a comedy
@@EditedAF987 You are right and The Man With The Golden Gun.
greatwuta that one is just too bizarre to not be laughed at though.
@@greatwuta Those films were light weight thrillers that were borderline comedic.
Borrowing from the "You Only Live Twice" set!
This movie shamelessly lifted ideas and subplots straight from "You Only Live Twice". Except Stromberg wasn't as badass as Blofeld.
Yes, the opening ship kidnapping the ships, this time submarines, both in effort to start war with US and Russia, the red monorail cars, the releases of the prisoners, the shootouts, and the "impregnable shutters"!
Same director and crew
