As someone who works with polycarb, I enjoyed watching you guys trying to break something I knew wasn't going to break from blunt force. Heat will defeat polycarb, it can be cut fairly easily, but it is made for impacts and will deform a lot before breaking.
I bought a single small sheet of this stuff at a hardware store and cut out about 5 lens protectors for my airsoft gun dot sights and scopes. Never lost a scope to direct hits again. It was like $5, and could be cut and filled down to shape with hand tools easily.
@@ShiningDarknesThat would only deform the edge on polycarb. Acrylic is prone to cracking from edge impacts, but not polycarb. Acrylic = harder, but more brittle. Polycarb = softer, but tougher. That's why they use types of polycarb in racecar windows instead of acrylic.

Polycarbonate has the highest impact strength of any transparent plastic. Polycarbonate is used in safety glasses. Plexiglass is namebrand of acrylic which is much more brittle.
I work in the plastic industry and I will say polycarbonate does not break, only bends. They make bulletproof windows with it lol. If it was acrylic however it would break like glass
I remember my first pair of polycarbonate safety glasses, it said unbreakable on the side, I didn’t believe it, so I tried throwing, stomping, hitting with a hammer, none of which worked. I even drove over them with a forklift. Only at that point did the arms break off. I never did break the lenses.

Idk if it’s been done or said but you all should try to have a deck made that’s fully made out of a material called Delrin which is kind of like a plastic that’s used to reduce friction. Obviously grinds would be quick and slippery.
30 yrs. ago I made a full-size skateboard in machine shop out of clear plastic. We ran it over with a car nothing happened. It was also bullet proof. It flexed too much, even with a set of plastic rails.
This brings to mind: "imagine you had a legitimately unbreakable thing, how many people would be broken in finding it out?" Skateboards might just break before people do for a reason.
It works cause it's soft.. not brittle. It's 'bulletproof'. Also you can tell polycarbonate from acrylic by the color of the edge. Poly is dark, acrylic is light colored.
As your trusted dry cleaner I'll say it's safe to air dry your cloths then before you fold them put them in the dryer for 10 min on low heat. That softens them and take some of the rinkels out.

I work with a lot of plastics. Poly is some strong stuff. It will bend before it breaks as you can see. Usually the Kryptonite for most plastics is sun. UV rays will take care of that bendiness after awhile. 😁
I started skating back in the early 1970s. I still have all my old stuff, original OJs wheels, Road Runner wheels, Gullwing HPG 4s, Trackers, ACS, etc. I still even have my G&S FiberFlex deck...this kind of reminds me of that deck with it's flexibility.
Rather than putting grip tape on it, you could put surf board wax on it. It's meant to keep your feet on the board. Not to slide. Then it would remain clear, the perhaps a little cloudy.
I had a clear plexiglass skateboard in the 1970's. Yes it broke, and it had two very sharp edges after it did. It flexed like crazy, even more than the one in this video. I don't think it lasted me more than a couple of days.
i used to work at a place that made polycarbonate. You will not break polycarb. polycarb breaks you. The only way to get through it at all is with a frickin saw.
its like a piece of art im 58 we used to break up roller skates and put them under some ply wood I made one in wood work and my teacher said "Thats artwork, not woodwork!" I would have dreamed of something like this in 1976 !
A friend of mine had one of these 20 years ago way before Amazon was around. It’s so uncomfortable to ride because it feels like your sliding around on butter, the thing is too smooth unless it hits a pebble and you go flying 30 feet since this thing picks up speed so fast.
if it had an aluminum shank spanning the two trucks, that would eliminate the flex and allow them to make a full size board. add some grip tape or just embed grit directly into the plastic and you would have an indestructible board that performs just like traditional wood. i suspect it's heavier than a normal board, but a few lightening holes could be drilled into it as necessary to bring it back down to a normal weight.
You gotta remember that polycarbonate is "bullet proof." Who would skate this board? People nostalgic for the 60s and 70s era of skating. Tricks such as the Hang 10 and handstand and Bert slide were invented on boards like this. And carving on banks. Boards of this shape are also where pool skating started. The wheels on this one are a bit wide for pool skating tho. Very much for carving and downhilling and slalom.
Aaron mythbusters proved that if you run in the rain you get more wet as opposed to walking because you generate more surface area or something. rain doesnt fall that fast so by moving faster you create more opportunity for the rain to hit you.
Yeah, it's one of their false outcomes. If you lean like a normal person, you don't get more water from the front in vertical rain but it's simple maths, if you walk like a snail, you get soaking wet in the lightest rain, if you go lightspeed in a planking position, you gather all the water that is in level with your head and shoulders. That's the bare minimum rain you have, unless you are smaller than 2mm and you can predict where the raindrops fall and completely avoid them. But anyone who actually tried to both run and walk in real-life rain knows that running is less pleasant at the moment but you only get your upper torso wet running as opposed to get soaking wet walking.
I remember from that episode it was inconclusive? Also they came to San Jose about 13 years ago and that was an experiment the attendees could do, run through a tunnel with "rain" falling and test it out. I haven't thought of that in years, thank you.
@brailleskateboarding it was busted the myth was running keeps you drier. But it was like 5 percent drier if you walk. Also you risk slipping and getting bodied.
