Ok so, I actually went to Ollie’s and got 3 of these. I gave them all out to my friends when I got back from college over the summer. All I did was switch out the bushings, and they were awesome! You got at least 3 of my friends into skateboarding with this one. They even skate outside of when we hang like with their busy work lives and everything. I just want you to know that even though this was terrible for y’all, I got the most out of it. I’m actually using a deck I got from one right now, I’m gonna skate it and give it out in bangladesh, where I’m staying at rn😊
W
You are à legend 💪💪
Dude you rock!
I'm tired
🔥
We purchased ours for 18.99 at Walmart. Thanks Braille, my son loves it and still skates it!
I'm glad a bunch of people got the boards for $9 but can you imagine what sales would have looked like if you guys had made a video dedicated to releasing this product, and then mentioned it in a bunch of other videos, and also had a bunch of other RUclips channels reviewing the board when it released...
That's what should have happened.
It's a braillespiracy
Also think of all the underpaid Wal-Mart employees that will be denied another raise in order to cover the loss
@@MrStyles784wtf?
Wal mart selling something for cheaper doesn't affect the employees pay rate....
What grade are you in?
Walmart selling everything for cheaper could though
@@YogiTheBearMan and if pigs had wings then pigs could fly...
I really appreciate you taking efforts like this to try to keep entry-level skating accessible and cheap. I grew up in a dirt-poor family and was the type of kid who only could afford these Walmart boards. The bushings and wheels are hard as a rock, and the bearings feel like you're trying to push through glue. Your board's price point is probably something I could have gotten for a birthday or something. I was lucky enough to have a friend who got a new board and gave me his, without him I wouldn't have got into skating as a teen. I'm 30 now and barely skate anymore but I at least I can still bust a kickflip and heelflip!
you can still skate brother!! my 40 year old step dad pulled a double kickflip off the ground in front of me and my brother when we first moved in with him. Instant respect
A board like this would be a massive success in other countries where skateboarding is a very expensive sport. Amazing video like always guys 🤙
Even in the US a $50 price point is unheard of for a complete that looks of this, the $41 pricedrop to move the inventory for shelf space was just luck of the draw from a company that values shelf space and product movement over quality, i honestly dont see anything like this happening again as far as quality to price ratio is concerned in the skate community, it was probably the steal of the century
@@tylerthompson8554 I think you are right on all points. In any country other than the US this would have been hugely successful, unfortunately the push for shelf space and moving volume is far greater in the US than the majority of the world. I hope you guys look past your center of the universe soon. It will be your downfall if you don't. This is by no means an attack on you, or anyone else for that matter. Simply an observation.
@@Smokinjoewhite i mean what you say its something we all know, but the .001% make the decisions on the matter for us, theres really nothing regular people can legally do to change how it works
@@tylerthompson8554 You're 100% right. That's what happens when you have the unholy marriage of state and corporation that's currently in the U.S. State and corporation have not been this intertwined since that failed Austrian painter.
Even a regular walmart boards in those places you talk about? When I win that lottery we ginna send some c containers full ti there.
I'm truly surprised by how BLIND the marketing guys were for not recognizing this opportunity. You have a giant supermarket with a nationwide presence, a high-quality product at a ridiculously low price, and the backing of a big name beloved by the entire skate community, such as Braille. Yet, they didn't even inform them that the product was out so they could talk about it on RUclips, create some hype and stuff. Just imagine how quickly the sales would have risen with a single video uploaded to promote the product. I'm not a salesperson, but even to me, this was a missed opportunity, like a whole study-case of a wasted opportunity.
Corporate america
Wait that’s riiiight….. didn’t this happen with blind skateboards? I vaguely remember them at Walmart
I like the contrast between businessman Aaron and fun, goofball skater Aaron. There are multiple layers to him.
True
The onion of skateboarding
When you own a business, you need to be able to act the part.
I actually seen the Braille Walmart board at Ollie Bargain store. The board was 20 dollars and the wheels/bearings/trucks were smooth. I personally have my own board so I didn’t buy it, but would easily recommend it.
Yeah, the manufacturer had to liquidate their stock because Walmart didn't buy all of the boards they ordered, a pretty brutal situation all around.
@@brailleskateboardingpretty brutal but also a back handed promotion for Braille skateboarding. I’d bet a whole bunch of people that don’t know what Braille is (or didn’t before) have a Braille deck now even if money was lost I’d say your overall goal or spreading the sport was 100% successful!
Bought mine there as well.
@@brailleskateboarding At least they got out. They will most likely make a huge impact on lower class, allowing some great skating at a low low cost. Hope they make the reviws great and bring it back!!!!!
i can't believe walmart failed to communicate with you and lost out on a great partnership
The compensation surely would have been donated to the Church
😂
They're still selling them till this day lol
Before i even watch this, i already know Dan Corrigan gave this board an honest review, and he liked it. Its because of his review that i want one.
it's because of his review that I bought one in 2021! Literally the day after his review video came out. Got mine for only $17.85 on 12/21/21
I literally just watched this video yesterday from seeing it on my homepage, I think Aaron or one of the guys only saw it recently too
Are they still 10$
Yeah and Dan had two the $20 and $40 ones I think? Now they're $50?
I have a braille wally world board it needed some softer bushings. I still ride it when I don't wanna ride my Toy Machine. I still say the braille board is one of the best starter boards on the market.
i recently got in my first rly bad skating accident, scraped the skin off both my palms, broke one of my wrists, busted my thumb open, a deep puncture wound near my elbow, my hip is badly scraped, and one of my knees is messed up, seeing as i am doing this bad i obviously can’t skate anytime soon and it’s been very depressing but your videos have been helping so much, so thank you :)
Welcome to skating. Get up, try to brush it off and keep moving forward. There will be speed bumps along the way.
I wish u a speedy recovery
I took a big hill in Oakland before I was ready and knew about speed wobbles. You sound just like I looked!! I healed and learned more technical stuff. I never did go back to big hills :)
I’m 22 years old now , haven’t skated seriously since I was 14 , watching this channel motivated me into skating again with my boys. Thank you so much for all you guys do
Was it hard ? tempted to do the same but i'm 27
@@BastosFC2I'm 31 and getting back into it. Definitely rougher on the body when you slam than I remember (Which was when I was 12-18). Definitely "Enjoi" it just as much as I remember though. I have that itch to skate Everyday just like back in the day. My son is Almost 5 and now that I'm skating again he is getting interested in watching me skate and watching skate videos. Guess it's Almost time to get him a skateboard. Find time to Enjoi the little things in life while we can. You won't regret it.
I bought 8 of these when they were selling for around $30 and donated them all to my local boys and girls club.
I love that and am glad it helped someone!
Braille boards look VREY legit and, in all likelihood, I'll get one. But that skating astronaut graphic on the Walmart board is FIRE!
I don’t even skate anymore but if I had known that board was available for $9 I would have bought it just in case I ever started again
Yes totally
same. at that price point id buy one and just get some wheels, and bushings or something and start skating again cause it's been a while
Thank you for doing this review!! My son just started skating and that's the exact Braille board he has. I was wondering how it would hold up. You guys answered so many of my questions. I may just end up throwing some thunder trucks on the deck for better turning and call it a year. Keep posting we watch every day
I've heard replacing the bushings with better ones make a big change
Put some 94a Dime Bag bushings in it and you wont feel the need to do anything else.
As someone who grew up just north of Rogers Arkansas, the town that Walmart was founded, I can tell you that the Waltons are awful. The destruction left in the wake of corporate greed is despicable.
Curious what this destruction you talk about is. All I have seen the Waltons do is pour their own money into the area for public use via the Walton Family Foundation. World class museum that is free to enter. World class MTB trails built and donated to the public.
@@velo170well you know, capitalism's and other ism's and the gosh darn partyarky
@@velo170someone has to be the winner and someone has to be the loser always.
So a Company that employs lots and lots of people, brings affordable goods to millions is bad??? If it wasn't for them lots of struggling Americans wouldn't be able to survive.
As someone who grew up with Walmart boards, I would have loved to have your skateboard in the store. Even some of the supposedly better Walmart boards back in the day, the trucks would break around the Kingpin because they were some kind of cast metal
2:47 honestly so true. I started on a $40 board from Walmart. A guy at the skatepark let me use his uber board fully built out and i actually wasnt that bad but i struggled on my board
It doesn't matter what price the boards sold for, what matters is your boards are out there and people are using them.
I just hope that the RUclips channel, website etc was all printed on the packaging so people can get in contact.
Ive never known a new product to make any money at launch, normally a company will just loose a lot of money but gain a lot of publicity.
Ah man I wish I knew these were $9 in Walmart!
I just love how they really didnt try to just schmutz all over the walmart board, even though their board is much better
I bought a bunch of these and gave them away to families in need. It was awesome.
That is awesome! Is there a video somewhere we can see?
Well done! Subscribed.
Yeah, that Walmart situation was wild. I wanted to get one of those boards, but never got a chance, and then they were just gone. If I had to guess, I'd say Walmart was never that committed to carrying them in the first place. They tend to not like things that take up a lot of shelf space. I remember similar things happening with musical instruments and video game peripherals in the past. Walmart just trend hops and bails like a poser. 😂
Haha
Walmart trend-hoppin and failing miserably is so true. All my PC enthusiasts out there will recall their gaming PC and how much of a joke that turned out to be.
@@Grease-Goblin Don't remind us 😂
I love the shots fired back at the other videos that i shall not name LOL love you guys
I saw the Braille boards at Walmart before I found the channel. I remember thinking oh wow Walmarts got some legit boards finally, it’s a shame they didn’t give them more time in the store. Maybe one day they will give it another go 🤞🏼
I love how specific they get with the decimals.
I love the break test at the end. I wasn't expecting either outcome.
Watching your vids helped me get back into skating all love thanks
Glad to hear it!
You guys rock! Hopefully someone great got a great starter board, and will grace us with their epicness in the future!
I was looking for this board for so long I was checking both the Walmarts in my town and in the surrounding cities and was never able to find it in stock and it wasn’t even available online.. I was very disappointed. Love you guys!
I snagged two at $15 a pop from their on-line store. I ride the board occasionally. As someone else mentioned, the bushings are squirrelly. They're either too tight or too loose.
bushings are to hard which cases this
Crazy. Apparently they're still for sale and in stock online for $50 - $60 USD. I have a heap of spinifex decks on display but tempted to get one of these shipped to display just for the controversy 😆
Haha
My first board was in 2000, Mongoose complete from Walmart. Obviously that was a time when Skateboarding peaked but that board was amazing to start on for $25. Probably a comparable board to your Braille complete, so if I got stoked on skating with that board than I'm positive you contributed to growth in the sport with a $9 board in todays economy. Great job!
Same here! First board was a $25 Mongoose from Toys-R-Us around 2001. Rode that thing until the nose and tail were GONE!
hii guys!!!!!! love ur vids and love the way yall skate. You guys give me so much inspo :)
Thanks!

If I would have known that I would have bought 10 or so and handed them out at my local park
Bro Nigel 3x the rail and not even phasing that board has convinced me to buy one, thanks for the vid as always shred on!
My nephew showed some interest in skateboarding but only had a Walmart board that wasn’t much different than the cheapo one here. We found a Braille skateboard at Ollies and bought him one as a gift. He’s been into skateboarding ever since, I’ve taken him to the skatepark the past two days and he’s been so stoked. It’s brought him a ton of joy but honestly I get stoked too just having someone to skate with and watching him learn.
Love the new editing style, the addition of the slow-mo clips is amazing
Appreciate it!
ok tbf I was waiting for your announcement video on when this board would be on shelves so I could buy one for my kid cousin, but this explains what happened. Great vids as always, thank you for all you do!
I got this as a present for my nephew. It was his first board and he rides it still. Thanks for making this.
Haven’t skated in a few years thought about doing it again this was the first place I came lol you guys made my childhood
Yes start skating lets go!
Is it possible to instead sell these on Amazon? Maybe add a couple new graphics
Watching you skate the wal-mart board gives me hope cause it's like watching me skate on a $100+ board.
❤️
Hi your viedos are great keep it up they are building a new skatepark next to me soon so thinking of getting a new board. ty for the inspiration to go skate again.
that's a crazy story! such a shame you guys didn't get to promote it. hope it didn't hurt braille too much.
❤️
I have followed you guys for a couple years and when I saw your boards at an Ollie's for $15 I was shocked, but I trust you guys as a brand, so I bought it. I have been tempted to take the plunge for years. So this summer before I hit 31, I will learn to skateboard for the first time.
I grew up in the middle of nowhere, where everything was flat and no way to learn at the time. Always wanted to try, and now I have the chance. Time to quit being a poser!
You got this!
Before I ever even heard of Braille saying anything about this board, I saw a review of the board by some random person. Watched it and was impressed at what you got. Unfortunate to learn the actual outcome of the launch, but I'm sure there are some future skaters out there with their first ever skateboard, and it's a Braille board. Congrats on that.
I was looking for the braille board pretty recently a few months ago but didn’t see them, eventually I settled for an element complete around the same price point, I didn’t know they were discontinued so fast
My first real board was a braille complete board I got from a place called Ollie’s which is like a bargain store for 17 bucks that was two months ago and I’ve skated everyday since I have bought different boards since than cause I needed a wider one but I still have that braille board and it got me into skating and I love y’all’s videos
Just looked it up, Walmart online still sells the boards but now around $50-$58
Its probably from the resellers he mentions at the end of the video.
Weird. Resellers selling a product at the intended price. What a wild turn of events!
@@PajamaPantsStudios right its jarring to say the least.
I love Aaron's idea about halfway through for Braille's next video. Let's see them in a bad-board contest: try to build the worst board that is still skateable.
Loved the video! I got a brail board at $35 I think. Bring it back I was going to buy more! I love it!
I saw a kid at the skatepark with one of them like right after you made the first video of them and I was pretty stoked to see it.
Sick
As a kid I used to aggressive inline but wanted to be a wood pusher not a fruit booter, went to walmart and bought the most expensive board they had and couldnt ride it for the life of me , the bearings were trash, the trucks were trash, and the wheels slid out all the time, plus board had zero pop.. it deff kept me from wanting to keep practicing so you are completely right
Absolute W for every kid who got a deck, y’all are out here doing the lords work. Every kid we get skating is a win.
Lord
Why do i have "where in the world is carmen Sandiego" stuck in my head, yet i've never even heard the song??? lol thanks Aaron!
hi. i wanted to try skateboarding, for sure someday. how do I pick the right board? do you really still need the skateboard safety wheel cover's for stationary practice and safety? how can I pick the right skateboard? baker, gravedigger, wood woodpecker, spiderman, sonic, tony hawk, or Meepo?... I really wanted the short-board, black one, or chocolate board, for close-range ticks and stuff. but I don't plan on getting hurt soon.. I can either read a couple more skateboard books or get my first board. I think it's the tony hawk board now. but not the cruiser board. not now; something like in-line skating or stationary practice. should you get a starter build-a-board? which wheel set do you choose? can I get the van's?... lol thanks, Eddie
If you have the Walmart app. They can still be ordered and shipped to you or the store. Possibly even be able to go in store and have the store order them
I was a retail employee for about 8 years, and this is very common for Wal-Mart and similar retailers. They put the boards out at 9 dollars because they'd still be able to recover more of their money than they would if they actually still had the product come tax season. These companies will get taxed for all inventory they have every year, so every year their goal is to get inventory as low as possible. They will definitely save more money than they lost on the boards when it comes to tax time, that's their whole game. If it helps, the board is DOPE for the price of 50, and absolutely insane for 9 bucks.
What would you say if I told you my local Walmart sold a bunch of complete boards for $1 and $2.50 each on clearance? That was here in Lebanon Kentucky....
The madd gear board is for beginner children, and the Braille complete deck is for beginner /adults/experienced riders or serious riders?
Back in the day, I'd of loved to have a braille complete skateboard as my first deck! My first board was bought at meijers and my first pro board was a birdhouse. Got me skating though! I still skate to this day!
Nice
Honestly id just try to do a target launch, yeah its the blue/red contrast you might even drop a red deck but id go for a target launch because they definitely would do a proper launch with your board at the correct price point.
They have these for 15 dollars at Ollies now. Bought 2 and gave them to my 12 year old cousins. They're at the age where they're super interested in skateboarding now and this was their first boards! Braille's vision with this board definitely lives on to this day!
Not trying to be pessimistic but is he saying that Walmart didn't tell him the boards were releasing and write him a big check?
You just taught me something so valuable about purchasing from the walmart website. I had no idea ANYBODY could make an account and just re-sell items from Walmart at different prices.. That makes me not wanna get scammed by some random dude on the walmart site lol.
Those speed demons and sand dark star and a few other of those brands made decent Walmart boards. Got one for my nephew. Only had to swap the bearings and I got em better wheels but they weren't awful.
Hey Braille skateboarding team do u guys do or have a series of trying fans bords?
When i was 10, I bought a skateboard with plastic trucks. The first time I did an olley of the curb the trucks disintegrated. I haven't been on a board in over 30 years.
NGL I'm sad I missed 9 dollar board season, cause I could use some trucks for an additional deck I have, and for my old zooyork the bushings dry rotted, so I'd love to snag some new trucks for it too.
so are they worldwide or just in some walmarts because i have a board from real skateboards but i snapped the tail a few days ago and im still getting used to skateboarding
Brailleskateboarding.com
Are these in Walmart Canada? I looked for them in our local but I didn’t see any
I bought my son one of these for like 40 or 50$ last year for Christmas. And it was definitely worth it. Ive seen and skated my fair share of cheap boards. This one is worth the pricetag for sure.
first deck was one of those. no wonder i didnt get into skateboarding into i got a real one. tip change out the bearings if anything, then you could atleast start upgrading.
You should get some kind of advertising with the Braille boards! It’s a great idea, all about the marketing!
I saw another video from another channel that asked the same question about the braille board, but I didn't even watch it. It is a big trend on youtube to make is this a scam or mythbusting videos. I like that the video was about that you were glad at least some people got a decent board they might otherwise not been able to afford, rather than a video about how walmart screwed you over or made you look bad.
Ya its the purpose of Braille to get people into skating
I started out on a spectacular spiderman toy skateboard and its the most mellow thing ive ever seen it has plastic trucks and everything but luckily it didnt make me discouraged
Are all the boards gone? I figure so since you’re talking about last November. Might go look still.
Facts I started in 6th grade with a Amazon board for like 20 and I gave up because I couldn’t even pop it but I got a vx board in 8th grade and instantly made insane progress
Not at all similar really but it reminds me of this snowboard that was popular for a while. There was a store in Sacramento called sierra snowboard and they had a snowboard produced and they must have made a lot of them. The store went out of business but you could still find that board for sale online years later really cheap.
Nice
Walmart November: *releases a skateboard with a branding from a popular YT channel and tells no one*
Walmart in December: Skateboards spoil faster than bananas! Get em OUTTA HERE! 😆😆
i wish that board you guys made would work within my weight limit, I'm a beginner but i wanted to make sure i got something that could hold my weight so I got a Santa Cruz Winkowski vert board and independent trucks, with some slimeball wheels, costed me almost $200 and i have to get some parts still but it feels a lot better than ANY of the walmart boards ive tried
Ok.. who says “bada boom bada bing”?! The bing comes before the boom man! 😂
I was doing a couple Ollie’s on my WhiteFang board and then it chipped plus it had a razor tail so I think I can convince my dad to get a proper deck. Than later change the wheels.
Not everyone can afford a $150-$200 skateboard, and some parents aren't willing to spend that much on something their kid is just going to lose interest and quit in a week. The parents will however be OK with spending up to maybe $50. But as you said, if it's low quality equipment, they're going to have a bad experience or not having someone to help teach them, they're going to give up on it if they can't see any progression. I think having really decent equipment at a lower price point would help gain more interest, but also having those willing to take the time to help the beginners learn properly would help too.
big win for new skaters if they got this board! That’s insane hahah, love the mission you got too man who couldn’t fr
It doesn't matter how bad my mental health is, The energy and hype of braille always makes me feel better.
loved Aarons lingo in this vid
Thanks
My three year old loves her board thank guys for everything you do
Wow thanks. This made my day
I absolutely loved this, but I have to admit, I don’t skate this style deck, I’m a flat land guy, so I ride an old school volcano shaped deck, I’d be beyond absolutely stoked to see a budget braille board for us flat land freestyle homies 🤙🏼
What is a volcano shape?
all the walmarts in my area never got these i live in the ghetto and they simply dont get alot of stuff
My girlfriend surprised me with a really nice full set up that she customised, but I haven’t skated in like 20 years, so actually found one of these at a discount store for like 15 bucks and then practising on this beating it up before messing up a nice board. It’s been fun and was setup well out of the box.
Question that throughout the world Walmart was real deal Braille skateboards in pa area as well ??
Braille is amazing and you guys are great the low price if anything was a gift to some lucky skaters
Truth
Much respect. I rode one in Wal Mart and compared it to the other completes in the shelf. Night and day difference. This is not a "Wal Mart" board. It's a legit board that happens to be sold by Wal Mart. Get it while you can before the corporation changes it up for "cost efficiency"
Kyro, you've been doing it big. You're ALL about the community. You're the next pioneer of skateboarding my friend. A great manager for sure. Never stop.
I gave away 2 this year on go skateday...bought 3 at ollies for $90... some have decenmt bearrings u have to check the pile
Aaron you did after all make you money on the boards which is in it self great & Walmart took the hit which is great for you also because their big corporate & they can afford to take the hit but the sad thing is will they be in Walmart in the future ? can they sell in another big corporate store ? Is this going to lead to no brand name stores carrying Braille skateboard any more , yea I know you guy sell them & that’s the cool thing , I always went to the source when I bought my bmx bike when I rode just because I knew that the products were the real deal & what the pros rode . Hit me back & give me your opinion on this .
thats BONKERS i didnt realize that was you haha i remember seeing an arty for "Walmart selling a REAL complete for $50 bucks?!?" and i was like "man i wish they had that when i was smashing through thrashpads and broke
