    These instructions are way better than the ones I found on other channels. Especially about how the laterals function and the fact that the filter tub can just be picked up when it's empty, that really surprised me.

    You rock. Fantastic video. Tired of all the so called pros showing videos made in a nice clean new environment. With half of the necessary info. You got down and dirty and showed the real thing, including problems. Thank you.

    The valve cap you take off from the bottom can be turned around and used to take out the sand stop. That way you can use the hose to rinse out the sand without having to lift the whole filter, or tip it on its side.

    Well done young lady !! We're getting ready to do ours and this was a big help.. ps: If the pump looses its prime... close all the valves.. top off the suction strainer line and basket, put the top back on, turn the pump on and at the same time open the bottom drain valve.. EZ Peesy and its greyhound approved !!

    Most of the newer units drain plug that you unscrewed .. have an inner screw under the drainage cap so you can just flush the whole thing rather using a shop vac

    Great video, Brooklyn. I loved that you showed a step-by-step way of changing the sand out. I'm not having any of those issues, but it's been since 2017, since I last changed out my sand and I'm thinking it's about due for another change.

      So we are not having any issues but we have never changed the sand. Pump is approximately 7 years old. Should we leave it alone? You know, not broken don’t fix. May cause more problems. What do you think?

    Not bad plumbing skills you got there. Just lob that blue glue on to where its dripping all over the place and that should give you enough time. It doesn't matter if the primer dries. Lastly, its not a bad idea to use some O-ring lube, even if it's a stationary gasket.

    Is it normal to have some sand in the bottom of a pool after sand change? I had none last year, and changed the sand at the beginning of the season this year (about 2 weeks ago), and there's a little building up in spots at the bottom. I have no sightglass, backwash to a storm drain, and my laterals are fixed, not hinged- so I couldn't get the assembly out for a thorough inspection. Everything seemed ok, as far as I could tell. Thanks, Brook!

    Thanks for the video. Any particular reason why you undid the pipes to the head after you cut it.. You had to put it back together later.

    I was replacing the sand in the filter, tried to put the valve back on the lateral to make sure it was lined up and when I went to take it off, it pulled the lateral back up overtop of the sand. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I tried scooping the sand back around so the lateral assembly could sit flush with the filter, but it went go back down. Any suggestions? Do I have to dump all this back out to get the lateral back flat?

    Vacuuming to waste every time you do a manual vacuum really uses a lot of water. I use a jet vac with a diesel micro element filter when I clean the bottom of the pool. Debris down to 5 microns is caught in the micro element which you dump out and rinse when finished.

    • @Brooklyn-Richard
      @Brooklyn-Richard  4 месяца назад

      Fortunately we only have to use our manual vacuum for the first week that we are opening our pool. Afterwards we use an automatic vacuum that isn't connected to our filter and has a compartment that can be dumped out every so often.
