Rest in peace dear Judith Durham, 5th August 2022. Your voice and music has brought such happiness to so many thousands of people for so many years. My childhood was enriched with The Seekers records often played in our home, something I did for my children and grandchildren as part of music in their lives.
I agree,I'm 78 years "young",I can remember them singing their lovely music in the early Sixties!!!, infact I have some of their records(45 RPM) in my collection!!! They are, in my opinion , one of the best (if not the best)singing group that has ever sung music!!! Nov. 26,2022.
I remember this occasion so well. Everybody around my wife & I were singing, many with tears (including me). Loved the Seekers since the eary 60's & Kudith remains my favourite singer of all time. The voice of an angel. I will love her till the day I die. RIP beautiful lady 😢🌹
Australia has lost two wonderful voices that are now in Heavens Choir. Judith Durham and Olivia Newton-John. RIP lovely ladies. Thank God we have your music that will live on forever. Love and Prayers from Canada 🇨🇦❤🙏🕊🌹🌹
From 'down under', thanks Kimberly. ♥We Aussies were extremely proud of Judith and the boys' success overseas. And to lose Olivia 4 days later was a hell of a shock. Loved her too. Just hope the boys hang on. Can't bear to lose them too. I was in love with Judith at a very young age. I had to compete with all the other boys in my class though...lol. "She's mine!", "No, she's mine...." Such was the impact she had on we young lads...the beautiful girl next door. So Aussie she was, yet so classy a singer/musician. We already know how good Keith, Bruce, and Athol were...well they still are.
Dear Judith, I learned to love your angelic voice not so long time ago. I was a little girl when I listened to some of The Seekers's songs. I speak Spanish and didn't know anything about English, but I loved these songs. Now, I do know English and enjoy most these music. I feel extremely sad for Judith's loss. And as some say, now you are an angel and singing so beautifully in Heaven. I will always love you.
This has been my favourite Seekers song since I was a child in the 1960s, and still the case. Always brings a lump to my throat with Judith's beautiful clear voice.
DITTO !! I have always known the Seekers (Morningtown Ride was a childhood favourite!) but this song is an eternal classic - the voice, the melody and the words bring life to a perfect conclusion. xx
On my way home on the train after an awful day in the office. What a beautiful and moving song. Tears in my eyes. God's gift to the world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
.It sadden me to learn of your passing. It is so very sad and heart broken to know you no longer with us. I have been your fan (from Brunei ) since I hard this song when i was in school and ever sibce bought your 45RPM records...followed by CDs. Its only last months I have been listening your hit songs in youtube....and now you are gone...it breaks my heart that this beautiful carnival is ovwer....although you have suffered so much pain in your life but your angelic voice still remain the same as when you are young.Your features have not changed much and I can see the face of a young Judith....now God have you in his keeping but all of us Fans have you in our memory and in our herart...Good bye and may you rest in peace with the angels....good bye. Cassettes and finally CDS and
As a young lad in the 60s I was in love with Judith...Just live thousands of others. Its great to know she is still performing and as well as ever. Beautiful voice. This is to take nothing away from the 3 lads. They complement her so well. There version of 500 miles still sends shivers down my spine. Good on you Seekers and Australia
The only female voice I've heard that I'd compare to Judith is Anita Carter, but sadly Anita never really broke away from her Carter Family/Johnny Cash back up role. If she'd have recorded more mainstream music, I think she would have been every bit as successful and well known as Judith, and being American, perhaps even more widely known. The two most angelic voices I've heard.
You are so right L. Im American but Ive never heard a better voice than Judiths. She outshines them all, and I mean all. She is to female singers what Roy Orbison was to male singers. None better.
Judith - your allegiance to God has brought you through so many tragedies - and yet your radiant face and voice shine through with the glory of God. The whole world loves you. Thanks be to God for loaning the world your beautiful Judith Durham. And thank you, Judith for persevering and singing for us yet another song. The boys are a beautiful complement that complete the mission of The Seekers who lead to God’s pure heart.
I find it so profound that Dusty sang, "Goin Back", which became her eulogy & Judith sang lead on,"The Carnival is Over" which will, doubtless, become hers. Both vocally-gifted and hugely influential singers, role models and great women; without Dusty, there'd arguably be no, "The Carnival is Over" and, without Judith's interpretation of Tom Springfield's beautiful ballad, we wouldn't have this heart-breaking rendition by which to remember and miss Judith. 💔😔💖💖
Here here , always brings tears to my eyes to hear her voice - a true performer and what a fitting song to close such an event- she really lifts the heart- in fact, it soars
Fiona Johnston, I came here to listen to Judith's rendition of the song she first sang so many years earlier when I found she had passed away on 5 August 2022. Her voice is still crystal clear and strong. Her voice touches my soul and makes my spirit soar. Goodbye Judith. Thank you for all the wonderful songs. May you continue to sing in the better place you have left us for.
Through all these years, Judith Durham and the Seekers have exalted and praised God no matter the circumstance. Considering how contemporaries have faltered in serving themselves, it is quite refreshing to be reassured that what really matters in the end endures the test of time. As we are reminded that we are best measured in times of strife, then certainly the adversities described only serve to magnify that these seekers measure up quite well. Indeed these Seekers have succeeded in their search! It is no wonder that the heart-warming music of Judith Durham and the Seekers will persevere forever in bringing joy and inspiration to people like me, through RUclips or whatever lies ahead. Thank you so much!
I believe you were an angel, for some reason I can't explain ,you always brought me peace when i heard you're voice may God bless uuuu! I miss youuuu, the who world will miss you.
WOW I never get sick of listening to the Seekers, goes to show what a great performer Judith is, even a broken hip can't stop her from singing.. there will never be another singer like Judith.
She is beautiful lady but, it's so sad that she passed away l do remember her song when l was little girl . We will miss her and God bless her . Rest in peace
Judith is amazing and so is the power of God I have witnessed this personally the last few weeks Judith like me has true faith and absolute unquestioning faith in God. God is Love...
Greetings from ireland I'm listening to Judith the carnaval is over tears in my eyes , I grew up with the seekers music and still loving it today 23 Oct 23 8.30pm
.....and now 13 years after this Judith is recovering from a brain haemmorhage which she had after The Seekers 50th Anniversary concert in Melbourne on 14th May - she is still currently in rehabilitation having to relearn so many things - she is unable to read, write, including music, play the piano, but she can still sing - Bless Judith - she is Australian's greatest female singer and an absolute sweetheart - The Seekers are Aussie's great group - so down to earth. Love you guys
Having just watched the closing ceremony from Paris, I went back and watched the end of the Paraympic in Sydney. This song just kills me how they finished it with the lights going dim. What an ending!
Loved this lady, she is the only singer I know when singing to a big audience she could make you feel as though she was singing it to you personally ❤❤❤ the world lost a shining light when she passed ❤❤❤

There have been many incredibly beautiful real female voices but none i can think of had the singles cha t successes of Judith and the Seekers. I think Sandy Denny almost accidentally charted for a week in 1969 although her albums did chart. However a popular singer with 4a real voice is very rare.

The Carnival Is Over"
Say goodbye my own true lover
As we sing a lovers song
How it breaks my heart to leave you
Now the carnival is gone
High above the dawn is waiting
And my tears are falling rain
For the carnival is over
We may never meet again
Like a drum, my heart was beating
And your kiss was sweet as wine
But the joys of love are fleeting
For Pierrot and Columbine
Now the harbour light is calling
This will be our last goodbye
Though the carnival is over
I will love you till I die
Like a drum, my heart was beating
And your kiss was sweet as wine
But the joys of love are fleeting
For Pierrot and Columbine
Now the harbour light is calling
This will be our last goodbye
Though the carnival is over
I will love you till I die
Though the carnival is over
I will love you till I die.....
