Also my tip to you for ripe leftover avocado is to take out the ripe slices you don't want to use, put them in a plastic sandwich bag or food saver bag, remove as much air as you can, then throw it in the freezer. When you want to use it, take it out of the freezer and microwave for 30 seconds.
Enjoyed your video - I am an Arizona resident and we travel in a Class C towing a Jeep. You should look at the Garnet SeeLevel tank monitoring system - I am going to add this to our rig next month.
Have you guys tried "Sodastream"? You can make your own soda (flavored with all kinds of flavors, or add those water enhancer drops, or simply make sparkling water). Much better than carrying cans or bottles.

When I want to know for sure I turn off the pump and shine a flashlight through the neck of the toilet and look for myself. Fortunately my toilet drops directly into the black tank. Love your videos.
HINTS: regarding the showers: if you eat a mainly plant diet (fruit n veggies, some starch minimal meat, little or no dairy) your body becomes very alkaline and exudes very little offensive skin exudites..ie your sweat, pee, poop etc has little or no smell as its very easy for the body to process fruit n veggies, the body works a lot harder to process meat, so showering every day is not necessary. a daily wipe down with a wipe or cloth is sufficient. regarding the dishwashing: some pple use paper plates AND they put a square of parchmnt paper on a plate and then put wet food on it then throw the parchment ppr away so no water used to clean the dish either!

Yikes....pass on that spider! Smart idea with the shoe storage! Thank you for the tip about the avocado storage!!! Congratulations on your week of boondocking!!! Yay! Disclaimer: I am not a professional....but I noticed that after we have done our "business", the black tank numbers will rise but then after a couple of hours, the level will drop back down. So, it depends on when you check your tank levels. Glad you are able to return to regular dishes. We use regular dishes, too. After cleaning all food particles off the dishes with a paper towel, I like to take a soapy sponge and clean each dish. I place the soapy dish/utensil in an empty designated, collapsible bucket. Then, I add boiling water for the rinse into the bucket. I don't completely cover the dishes or fill the bucket, but I place enough boiling water into the container so that I can move the dishes around before taking the dishes out to dry.

No our tailgate can't open when hooked up to the trailer, but when we are detached you can open the tailgate all the way. We are one notch down from the highest setting and just make it by a hair.
Consider getting a 1kw - 2kw inverter generator. They're tiny, sip fuel, and you can program your victron to limit the current it draws from the generator, allowing you to run your air conditioner. You can program it to pull, say, 1800w from the small generator, and any extra from your batteries. Then when the air conditioner switches off the victron will continue to draw 1800w but charge your batteries instead. Solar is nice but generators are cheap and quick.
Those small inverter gens are pretty nice. We are going to try and go generator(less), but I bet after getting caught in one heat wave we'd change our minds!😂 Thanks Paul!
@@IreneIronTravels getting a solid solar system is definitely the best bet long-term. But it's also expensive and time consuming. The generator is quick and cheap. My 3kw generator can run my AC AND charge 75 amps into my batteries at the same time. Since we're heading into winter, a generator might not be necessary. But definitely incentive to get the solar setup done before it gets hot! Your battery bank is so big, with enough solar you could run your AC 24/7, and do Arizona in the summer!
We continue to go back and forth on going full-time with a truck&trailer or motorhome. Like hearing your experiences on the differences. Would like to hear more about the driving differences; comfort, noise level, maneuverability, dirt roads, etc.
We did have that recorded on our cell phone but it didn't make it to the vid unfortunately. I used a stick and a cardboard box! Let him go back in the desert. 🏜 tried not to scream to much....🤣
Lovin you’re new setup~ 👍👍❤️ Hey Chris...try squeezing your halved avacado. I used to score mine with a knife then scoop with a spoon. No More! Gets every little bit especially the extra good for you stuff next to the skin. And less utensils to wash!! Take Care ~ Safe Travels
Looks like two thumbs up on the boondocking experience so far! You both seem much happier than when tent camping. Just the right amount of comfort, space and amenities. Back to delicious meals! Makes you never want to downsize on fridge space once you have it. Gigantic spiders? No thanks! I’m with you, always feel like they are about to pounce on me if I get too close!
It was an excellent first week of boondocking in the ORV and it performed very well for sure. I was pretty wigged out by that spider for a couple days after....
Tiltables would be really cool for sure. Might not go that way as our system is oversized and we should have plenty of power with 810 lithium amps and 1200 watts of solar......but that would help a ton in the winter time for sure!
Fantastic! You both seem to be soooo happy with your new camping/boondocking RV lifestyle! Love to watch your YT postings every week...thank you for sharing! Oh...and BTW, spiders creep me out too! As always, looking forward to next week's video and safe travels to you both!

Hopefully you dont have the same issues we had with our Shark Duo. The main heads go bad after about a year. We had to replace ours 3x in 3 years and it was the most expensive Shark i could find ($469-ish). We bought a dyson after the 3rd one, otherwise it would have been 4. If you have one go bad, don’t buy a replacement, just move on. We like watching your vids, keep it up.
Thanks for another great video. I am thinking you are not big fans of spiders! Dinner looking good, nice job on the grill. Stay safe and happy travels.
So happy you feel better in your new rig. Hope you plan to change the control for water levels, it must be a little sressful to not knowing exactly the capacity lefted in the tanks. Thanks for the avocado tip Chris i'll use it now. For the black stone you should use a bell on the food to shorten the cooking time. Keep enjoy my beautiful friends
Congratulations on a successful 8 days of Boondocking! You may want to reconsider your solar panel efficiency especially in the winter. There are many system losses (I.e inverter, sun hours per day) The AC will suck power from your batteries very quickly. A soft start will help reduce the power demand when the AC starts.
Thanks Neil! Yes, agreed with the less the optimal solar output in the winter. I think we have typically gotten about 1/2 or so of what we get in the summer months. We leave the inverter off unless we need it for a high wattage appliance and have pretty much everything we can converted to DC power. That is why we want to max out the solar we can fit on a small 26ft roof like this RV. 1200 watts is the most Ive been able to calculate ... plus 200 watts ground deploy...for 1400 total.
A van is perfect when you were doing urban camping - hotel parking lots and streetside parking right in the heart of the city. But as you shifted to boondocking, the van no longer made sense and something with more space worked much better.
Wow - two great tips on this one. I didn’t know that about the E on my water tank but it makes sense once you explain it! And genius idea on the avocado! Thanks guys!
Always enjoyed your videos. Thanks for sharing your actual living RV daily experiences. Be careful of bugs/insect getting in your shoe. After We've seen that huge arachnid . While you have big water Capacity can you supplement your need for more by carrying 4X 5 gallon jugs. you can always fill up and empty gray water in the desert to free up capacity on the tank. Or if you have shower nozzle out in the RV .
I had a lovely salad ready for lunch, turned on your video and took a yummy bite then AHHHH, I am deathly afraid of spiders!! Couldn’t eat my salad ha ha.
Nicely done ! We boondock in appx same area & to the east East the end of Jan & Feb. in our 27' tt. We really like the area. We've RV'd for years and never had the sensors work accurately after the first few trips on any rig. I carry two 5 gal plastic jerry cans that as we are out and about fill up and add to our tt tank. I have numerous spectacular photo's of the sunsets. We go about ~7-10 days (have done 14 & 16) before needing to dump. Shower every other day, sponge bath on the other. Like your selves, we enjoy the room of the tt & still have a vehicle to go out and about.
8 days of boon-docking with 70 gallons of fresh water…impressive. Not sure how you guys did it but great job. Heck, when we are in a campground with full hook-ups, we can’t go more than 2-3 days before emptying our grey water tanks. I guess when your boon-docking, you can’t store more waste water than you have in fresh.
Thanks! It does take a lot of practice and we spent a lot of time boondocking in the van. We only had 26 fresh, 27 gray, and 15 black. We got up to a week!
After seeing that Crab Spider, Aaron was thinking: the Neighbors in the RV Park weren't that bad. I think Chris was a little too excited about RV “Chores”, it may just be the temporary New RV Euphoria. The People back home in Minnesota would like to request that there be No More “Prince” song parodies on the Channel.
My fave takeaway is the avocado storage tip…will be using that this week. And Aaron’s description of the 2” thick styrofoam insulation in the trailer ….😂 solo cup is now a styrofoam cup! Thanks for showing the gauges. I’m thinking digital is in your future.
Thanks Aaron- info is so helpful. The details Great Vid!! My kinda guy to ID the spider. Look for others in case you happened to stop in their colony. Az? Hmm. Maybe your location has an abundance of bugs so the area would attract spiders to feed. Thanks
@@IreneIronTravels It’s the desert weather that’s addicting. No natural disasters to speak of. Las Vegas has a 50 year plan to make the valley flood free. Building one retention basin each year. One of the most unusual events is seeing rain or even hearing it. Rains more in mountains. Great setup. Happy for you!
I’ll pass on the spider. In fact I’m not sure I’d be anywhere out there where tarantulas were likely either. YIKES! Love the boondocking tho. We just did our first real b’docking trip last August. We already knew we could last two weeks on our black tank from staying in SPs but for fresh water we bought a 30 gallon water bladder. Worked great! We use a small pump that is operated by a cordless drill & it literally takes 10 minutes to transfer 30 gallons. So much better than 7 gallon jugs. 👍
Our current 7pin setup only charges at 5 amps per hour, so it would take 125 hours of driving to charge back up the 810 amps from the 30% we were at! Even if we had a 30 amp DC to DC charger (most common) it would have still taken over 20 hours of driving. That is why we talk about solar on the roof and are looking at 1200 watts or up to 80 amps per hour at full sun. We went to an RV part where our 120 amp Victron inverter/charger still took around 6 hours to charge back up that big bank of batteries!!
Want to keep those avocados for days... put them in a little bit of water in a container in the fridge, flesh side down in water, they'll stay fresh a long time 😜
We enjoyed watching your week boondocking. I will try the avocado tip. I always keep the pit in the avocado and will now try keeping the other half of the shell before putting in plastic. It really makes sense that that would be the best container for the avocado. Yeah to no more red solo cup! Seems like everything is easier boondocking for the length of time you do in your trailer vs van, and I’m sure it will continue to get easier . . . Until you decide you want to boondock for 2 weeks!
Loving your boondocking videos!! The desert isn't my favorite, but I'm jealous of those gorgeous sunsets!! So is Aaron more scared of gigantic spiders or bears?? 😉 Another super video from Team Irene! 😎
Hello Chris and Aaron…it is like work just became a vacation! I am really happy that so many facits (sp?) of your life have before easier, or at least changed for the better. Oh boy….that will be our big test…..how long can we stay out in the rig? I will be happy with 1 week, as long as we don’t have to count amp hours or gallons of water….too much. Another awesome video! Thank you for sharing this week of your first boondocking! I liked the whole video, except for the spider part. I can’t tell you how many times we were walking through the night during training or deployments and I get a spider web in the face, and, you know what resides on the spider web…..bleh! Here we are supposed to be worried about bad guys, and spiders are the real enemy or fear! It is an interesting plot twist for no paper products or solo cups! I like it! And, glad to hear that your water usage included showers most days! I may get some of those baby wipes that are in your store so as to cover the days of no showers. Granted, I won’t be out running. But, if I do anything physical and it is over 50 degrees, I will be sweating at least a little bit, as you know, Remy needs his 3-5 miles daily! Safe travels!
Love your channel! Wondering if the recall regarding the sump pump leaking onto the inverter has affected you? Did you install your upgraded inverter in a different location? RV Miles announced the recall in a video earlier this week.
@@IreneIronTravels I'm sorry, I was thinking of my other favorite channel. Now I need to remember who has the Ekko. I'm getting a bit dingy, really ask anyone.
Beautiful job on the solar/inverter setup. I have the same trailer and I'm about to install my inverter. How did you run your cables for the inverter to the AC panel? Under the coroplast?
Yes, went under the coroplast on the driver side and then up under the floor of the refrigerator. It took a couple days to find the perfect route, but was pretty easy after that.
Curious . . .if a 1 hour burst of air conditioning would be a relief, but then how does that help when you have to turn it off, open the windows and run the fan? Doesn't it get hot again once the air conditioning is turned off?
Hey Patty! The hour of AC would just help cool down the RV quicker... but the key is to do it the last hour of sun/ heat. So, where we were in the AZ desert winter time the peak heat was from 3-4 pm and then the sun started setting around 4:30 and the cool desert air comes in. In the summer you would have to do it later at 6 or so..... But sometimes its just so hot in an RV an hour cool would be sooo nice to just cool off a bit.
What a great boondocking spot. Love the Arizona desert, except for the spiders. I do the EXACT same thing with the avocado. If I have lemons, I'll put a few drops of lemon juice in the avocado half before I put in the ziplock bag.

Don't close the screen door or anything. I'm sure there's no spiders inside the rig. LOL!
We continue to go back and forth on going full-time with a truck&trailer or motorhome. Like hearing your experiences on the differences. Would like to hear more about the driving differences; comfort, noise level, maneuverability, dirt roads, etc.
Love this and awesome opening music choice . Gets me more excited for our Christmas trip to Palo Duro Canyon 😻😻
Great Video, Thanks for sharing!
Great Video. Such great tips!Chris seems so much happier than when in tent. So much more relaxed!
Christine said just put your thumb up there so we can determine scale. 😂😂😂😂. Looks like you guys survived the boondocking pretty well. 👍
🤣🤣
“Orange you glad I didn’t ask?” Really Chris? 🤓
🤣🤓🙋♀️
OMG, that spider!!! I love the math quiz! 😄
If you believe your tank monitors you're deluding yourself I've never seen a tank monitor yet that was accurate
hi thanks for your vlog . how long of your trailer is easy to tow ?
Hello, we are 26ft long and it is pretty easy to tow once you get used to it!
So Arron, how did you get rid of that huge spider???
We did have that recorded on our cell phone but it didn't make it to the vid unfortunately. I used a stick and a cardboard box! Let him go back in the desert. 🏜 tried not to scream to much....🤣
Lovin you’re new setup~
👍👍❤️
Hey Chris...try squeezing your halved avacado. I used to score mine with a knife then scoop with a spoon. No More!
Gets every little bit especially the extra good for you stuff next to the skin. And less utensils to wash!!
Take Care ~
Safe Travels
Hi JannieJean!! Thanks for the tip. Always like hearing ways to save on dishes :) Happy Holidays!! - Chris
@@IreneIronTravels
Merry Christmas to you and Aaron too. 🎄🥂
I can't wait to see the solar install. Are they going to be tiltable? It makes a huge difference in winter. I'm so glad you didn't kill the spider.
Tiltables would be really cool for sure. Might not go that way as our system is oversized and we should have plenty of power with 810 lithium amps and 1200 watts of solar......but that would help a ton in the winter time for sure!
I would have smashed that spider!!!!!!
I let him go back to the desert!
Fantastic! You both seem to be soooo happy with your new camping/boondocking RV lifestyle! Love to watch your YT postings every week...thank you for sharing! Oh...and BTW, spiders creep me out too! As always, looking forward to next week's video and safe travels to you both!
haha.. SO happy for you guys! R.I.P. red solo cup!!! haha... Y'all look so happy!! Love it! and Love that you are tryin out your new boondocking times/skills in AZ! I think she loves you as much as you love her. Happy Travels!
🦀🕷
🤣🤣 thanks Kathi!
What month were there?
That was in November.
@@IreneIronTravels yep. November & December were much warmer than normal and even much of January. The new normal I am afraid. February has been cooler thank goodness. If you guys like natural hot springs, next time your in AZ I can tell you a very nice place to check out on the Verdi River.
Thank you for sharing this video with me!!! Nothing like having the feeling of hom in one spot for a while . BS & BK
It’s so fun to see the two of you ridiculously happy about your new home! Great avocado tip! I will
Definitely be doing that! I love the outside shoe storage - I just hope the spider doesn’t take residence in one of them! Yikes! Beautiful boon docking and you have my hubby thinking about batteries and solar now so maybe your affiliate link will
Get some use soon?!!
Bunches of love
Noelle
We were are little more carful checking our shoes after seeing that big 🕷! Boondocking in nature is a magical experience for sure and you guys should try it!!!
Hello, do you know if battleborn has any discount off their batteries? I have to replace my 2 agm that died. Thank you.
Hello Victoria, sorry to hear the battery problems! They ran a summer sale and have extended those discounts out. The current sale price on the 100 ah battery is $799 battlebornbatteries.com/product/12v-lifepo4-deep-cycle-battery/?afmc=2n
Thanks for watching Bill!🕷😬
So happy you feel better in your new rig. Hope you plan to change the control for water levels, it must be a little sressful to not knowing exactly the capacity lefted in the tanks. Thanks for the avocado tip Chris i'll use it now. For the black stone you should use a bell on the food to shorten the cooking time. Keep enjoy my beautiful friends
Looks like a Camel spider, non venomous but packs a painful bite.
Your happiness shines through and it makes me happy to see you guys enjoying the new rig! Take care and have fun! :o)
Great video..
Oh no, sorry we ruined your lunch! That spider was soooo big and disturbing for sure! 😬
😂🤣
My fave takeaway is the avocado storage tip…will be using that this week. And Aaron’s description of the 2” thick styrofoam insulation in the trailer ….😂 solo cup is now a styrofoam cup! Thanks for showing the gauges. I’m thinking digital is in your future.
Thanks Aaron- info is so helpful. The details Great Vid!! My kinda guy to ID the spider. Look for others in case you happened to stop in their colony. Az? Hmm. Maybe your location has an abundance of bugs so the area would attract spiders to feed. Thanks
Awesome thank you Mary! I read those spiders like to make their homes in fallen and dead cacti!
Gorgeous sunsets! You both look so comfortable again. Glad to see that! But that 🕷 😳!
Great job on boon docking for 8 days! The beans look delicious.
That spider is way too scarey!!! My biggest complaint on my ORV is the panel, just a guess!
How much hours of driving did it take to recharge your battery bank to 100% ?
Our current 7pin setup only charges at 5 amps per hour, so it would take 125 hours of driving to charge back up the 810 amps from the 30% we were at! Even if we had a 30 amp DC to DC charger (most common) it would have still taken over 20 hours of driving. That is why we talk about solar on the roof and are looking at 1200 watts or up to 80 amps per hour at full sun. We went to an RV part where our 120 amp Victron inverter/charger still took around 6 hours to charge back up that big bank of batteries!!
Want to keep those avocados for days... put them in a little bit of water in a container in the fridge, flesh side down in water, they'll stay fresh a long time 😜
I need to try green beans that way.
Your a good guy Arron. Love following you guys. Be safe in your travels.
Merry Christmas
Blessings

Hahahaha. I think it's fair to say he is equally afraid of both!!! 😳
Hello thanks for the video. What size wire did you run for the ac side of the inverter?
We used a 10 gauge wire for the the 30 amp AC service. I used a marine multi strand and was really nice to work with over the Romex. amzn.to/3ynqaTl
Thanks! No it looks like that recall is on the Winnebago Ekko....but doesn't sound like a fun one to deal with!
🙋💕
Curious . . .if a 1 hour burst of air conditioning would be a relief, but then how does that help when you have to turn it off, open the windows and run the fan? Doesn't it get hot again once the air conditioning is turned off?
Hey Patty! The hour of AC would just help cool down the RV quicker... but the key is to do it the last hour of sun/ heat. So, where we were in the AZ desert winter time the peak heat was from 3-4 pm and then the sun started setting around 4:30 and the cool desert air comes in. In the summer you would have to do it later at 6 or so..... But sometimes its just so hot in an RV an hour cool would be sooo nice to just cool off a bit.
Love all the math questions to Chris! Great boondocking trip, hate that spider though but that’s AZ!
What a great boondocking spot. Love the Arizona desert, except for the spiders. I do the EXACT same thing with the avocado. If I have lemons, I'll put a few drops of lemon juice in the avocado half before I put in the ziplock bag.
