I’m considering both Lance & ORV for the insulation properties as well. -Lance is a 50+YR old builder, known for 4 seasons & truck campers mostly. The main differences are as Follows: • Lance’s are built with Azdel, which means de-lamination, cracking, mold & mildew are not an issue their trailers have. (ORV uses thin luann wood, which is susceptible to every moisture related issue and de-lamination) • Lance’s water tanks (all 3) are wrapped with insulation, and are dropped into a 3 sided hull, which have furnace ports into the hulls, have 12v tank pad heaters attached to each tank. (WAY better than ORV) • Lance’s Roof materials are made of PVC. (A superior product to ORV’s TPO/rubber membrane roofs.) - Lance is lighter weight, but they build all their cabinetry, and use a European lumber, which they cut with a computer cutting router. (C&C Machining) • Lance Has 3 interior choices of upholstery. (ORV needs to update on both color/fabrics) • Lance’s heating system is ducted through their cabinets (ORV has floor vent registers) • Lance has more exterior cargo capability • ORV has been in business 11+years, Is an offshoot of Northwood MFG (same owners, own both) they have these things BETTER than Lance: *1-Family Owned Corporation *in-house built frames, *off-road clearance height, *off-road suspension, *cold weather kits on their refrigerators as standard, *Greater tank capacity *Greater cargo capacity ORV trailers are 9995lb gvwr (Lance’s GVWR is much lower.) -So, to compare in my case, I’m looking for what I have-to tweak the *least* in the solid essentials & of the 2, which has greater resale/trade-in value. Last, I will be winter camping/some & full timing, but my truck is 5.9l V8 4x4 capable of 12.5k lbs GCVWR. (Sounds like you all are bigger) I’m leaning towards a lighter weight, More outer cargo spaces, Azdel (big factor) and Lance’s Tank inside a tank insulation system, factors a lot. -Lance’s PVC roof is also big. Again, I don’t want to tweak very much. If you’ve properly checked all your trucks capabilities, and know your GCWR, I’d say, go Look at the Lance’s in person, and watch their factory tours on RUclips so you know how they are built. *Price wise, they are priced about the same, and are both truly 4 season rated. I’ve been Researching for 5 years while Ive been taking care of elderly parents. I’m ready to hit the road, and am waiting for my lil’ sis to fully takeover w/mom. May your decision be the right one made for you.✌🏼
Great break down of lance and orv! Lance certainly does have a lot going for them. I look forward to touring a few of them when we get back on the road!! No RV is prefect for sure, so we also look forward to testing this ORV out!!
Thanks! Yes, i definitely think ORV is more 3/4 or one ton friendly. We purchased a F350 last month knowing we wanted to be over trucked on any trailer we got. Thought about a Lance truck camper too.I love those patios as well!!
I bought a 2020 25 Foot Airstream Fly Cloud Rear Bed Queen model. I am now upgrading to the 30 Foot Twin Classic with the 3 inch life kit to address the ground clearance issue. We need the additional room and storage for our 3 month trips. I was also able to sell my 25 Footer for more than I paid for it. When I first started shopping I rented an Outdoor RV and an Airstream before I decided to go the Airstream route. In the end I felt so much less stress towing the Airstream in high winds vs the Box designed trailers. Plus, all slide eventually have issues. During cold nights you can feel the draft come though - especially as they age. I recently had to help a guy in the RV park we were visiting to push all the slides in on his 42 foot 5th wheel. It was his first trip in it and he wasn't very happy. When I first started looking at RVs I was driving down the highway and I saw a guys slides come open while driving down a major highway. These things made me not want to have a slide. Wife and I really loved the design of the Outdoor RVs though. If we were full time I might have gone a different route too. It was the other top contender in our search. I hope you do quality reviews on your trailer as you go on. That kind of info will be very helpful. I hope to see you on the road sometime. Take care!
Just as an FYI Lance does have I closed tanks, the best system really with tank in a tank. They also are only manufacture I know that includes full fresh water and propane in weights. So that cargo weight is after a full fresh tank and full propane. They are overbuilt for weight. They also have a lift option for more clearance.
We bought a 2021 Grand Design Xls 22MLE total length is 26’1”. We absolutely love it. It has a modern light decor, big kitchen and is a great couples trailer.
You will love your ORV my wife and I will be picking up our second ORV from Oregon in abt 2 weeks. The build quality is top notch. You will love it even more after spending some extended time in it. Congratulations and I'm glad to see more people starting to realize just how good of a quality trailer they are.
Congratulations on your new trailer. We are on our second one.The first was a 2014 Black Rock 25’by Outdoors RV.Our second is a 2024 Arctic Fox 32A by Northwood Mfg the sister company of Outdoors RV.You will love it!
Sounds like your decision is perfect for you. In Fall of 2019, I went to the California RV show and saw the Airstream, BlackSeries, and Lance Travel Trailers. From what I remember, your comparisons of the units are right on. While I like an Airstream 25RBQ, the fact that you can buy two new Outdoor 22FS for the same money as one new Airstream causes one to think twice. The BlackSeries units will have an internal clearance problem. If you look at the videos, the AC unit seems to cause some headroom loss. While they seem very rugged for off-road use, if you can't stand up, you can't stand up! I didn't know that the Carrying Capacity of the Lance was a lot less the Outdoors Unit. After looking at that the specs, you will have over 1,200 lbs to play with and that is a huge factor in figuring out what to take on your travels. The real question is when will your rig arrive?
I also live in Minnesota and own a 2019 260RLS Outdoors RV. Absolutely love it! We travel to the southwest every spring and can boondock very comfortably with those large tanks. Agree with your assessment of colors but we felt it was the best fit for our style of camping. Enjoy!
I have been living in our Timber ridge 22fqs full-time for a year now and have no regrets. I have made some upgrades that make it more enjoyable and practical. I installed two 100w solar panels, solar charger and inverter it was easy with the prewiring. I disconnected the outside speakers and wired speakers in the bedroom instead ,mounted to the ceiling . I installed a apple tv device which is great for streaming Netflix. I installed reading lamps on each side of the bed. I also insulated around the water pump and water lines to prevent noise from vibrating lines under the shower area. And I added a lockable battery box which houses two 6v agm batteries wired in series. The only problem I have had was with the maxx air fan it stopped working, I think the board is bad. Hope you enjoy yourselves.
I’m happy for you. It seems like you made the right choice for more rugged outdoor adventures. But I’m not gonna lie, when you were talking about the airstream in this video you lit up and it seemed like your heart was really set on it.
@@IreneIronTravels Airstreams Does NOT Have Any Exterior Storage, Let Alone Interior Storage Like The ORV...!!! You Made The Better and Smarter Choice - True Four Season - Protection and Interior Hight... I Am 6'3" Tall - Ah 6'11" :)
@@BIGResultsFast & @Irene Iron Travels: It depends on the size of the AS. At 30’ my ‘78 Argosy (the painted AS) has outside & inside storage. For real serious off-roading you do need both the larger wheels & the lift kit. In our case, with knee trouble, the higher ground clearance is sacrificed for better physical comfort. I’ve camped in a 30’TT for over 30 years and have never been restricted in where I would like to go. I’ve never been a rock climber type of camper so I’ve not needed that capability. I’ve had skid wheels on my 30s’ so I don’t worry about dragging. My TV is a 2005 Dodge Ram SLT, 1500, 4X4, Quad Cab, 6.5’ Box, 5.7L Hemi - Gas w/240,000 miles. Very little repairs - mostly suspension. It is capable of towing 12,000# but I’m only towing 5,500# fully loaded so I have had no problems. With an AS you have 50-70 years worth of used units to consider. No other TT on the market can make that claim. That’s how you get around the high price tag of the newer units. And AS DID make Slide-Outs for a few years. They are highly sought after and their price reflects that. I retired my other 30’ TT because at 30 years of age it was unroadworthy and too expensive to repair. It was a Fiberglass/Styrofoam/Wood sandwich construction on a Galvanized Steel frame. I wasn’t savvy enough to realize the damage heating w/propane would inflict. We did a lot of Cold Weather Camping and ran our furnace a lot. I did not use a dehumidifier. I will NEVER again use a TT that uses wood and fiberglass in a sandwich. I looked very strongly at the Lance, particularly their Pick-Up Campers. The 3 slides one I could live with quite easily but my Wife did not like the entry height or the small quarters. We used my Folks Avion 11’ PU Camper so she had a reference point. I look forward to following your adventures in your new TT!! Best to you both!!
If ORV is building your Rig, I would consider asking them if there is any way they can leave the stain out of your cabinets (or use a lighter stain). You can't get what you don't ask for, and maybe you all, being such good ambassadors, would be a great test case for a different color way. Very excited for you all!
I romanticize airstreams like many do. It would have been an easy choice to help your channel numbers due to their popularity. But I'm actually happy that you went with what is best for your actual life, not just your social image. The industry needs to spotlight smaller and less well known builders who are doing things right. I wish you guys all the best in the days ahead!
Congratulations 🍾🎊 We have a 25fb Airstream Globetrotter…….but I can see why you chose the Outdoor trailer….we have been in Matt and Diane’s…very nice 👍 We have seen the Black Series in person at the Tampa RV show 2 years ago….very impressed 🙌🙌
Congrats!! So glad you found something perfect for your lifestyle! Decor will be easy to change up, stick on backsplash, couple area rugs, curtains, it will be homey in no time. The extra room is so awesome!! Enjoy.
I love your research and comparison shopping that you do. It gives me insight on what I like and dislike! I like your decision on your new home. I never quite understood getting rid of the van as the color scheme to me was perfect but I do understand full time RVing you need a little more space. I love your taste in the color as I feel drab and cabin feverish with the dark colors. Good times looking forward to your family of 4 in your new RV! Excited for you. You two so deserved the win and I’m glad you were able to do something large like this new home!!!
Great choice! We longed for an Airstream, we are 6’ and 6’5”. In the end the lack of slide and the curved interior walls (in the shower for instance) were a deal breaker and we bought a Grand Design Imagine with one slide and the basement pass through. Best decision ever. The Airstreams are beautiful and I still covet them but we enjoy the functionality and space/height of the Imagine every single time we use it. I think you chose a fantastic trailer and am looking forward to following your adventures. 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks! Yes, that all makes a lot of sense...especially the shower! We wanted to look at the GD Imagine 22mls a bit more as well, but none were local. They managed to fit the table, couch, and full walkaround bed all in there. Looked like it might have been a bit cramped...... Is that the model you guys have?
We ended up with a 2500RL. I love the upgraded shocks and suspension on your rig. It makes for such a more pleasant ride down the road, and those tank sizes - you could be weeks in the boonies - so fun!
let me add some reassurance, I think Lance is more for the full Hook-up retired folks from what I have seen over the years. But a very good quality. don't fret on the "open" floor plan of you new rig, I think the openness out weights it. all and all the build options of the ORV is so much more usable in our type of camping. The large tanks are so helpful, and thermo windows and panels. Anyone who heads off road understands the great suspension ORV has. I really hope our paths cross some day, Paul & Christine
Well, this video was the tipping point for us. We've followed you for years and learned from your transitions. We ordered a new 27FBT Globetrotter months ago, then changed out minds after learning about Outdoors RV from this video. Did our homework and are buying a 26KVS Titanium. Pick it up in two weeks from Cordelia RV in Fairfield CA. Cancelling the Airstream. Think this will be a great starting point. The off road endurance will allow us to determine whether dry camping is our thing. Also half the price of an airstream. Though we see ourselves graduating to Airstream or even a fifth wheel.
Great choice! If you need any pointers on remodeling, let us know. We can also send you the plans for our custom desk if you're feeling a little more adventurous!
Matt, we would love to see your plans for your custom desk. We sold our house and will be going full time in June. I work from home so I am concerned about using the dinette as my work space. Your design is so well thought out and functional, I love it!
I called it! Excellent choice for your mission(s)! I'm working with Thompson RV on a larger floor plan, but the reasons leading up to your purchase are _exactly_ the same as ours. And you made a great point about the potential need to travel to colder climates if needed; my girlfriend's father is in MN so we could potentially find ourselves in the same position. Excellent video as always! Congratulations!
Thanks! And hope you guys get your ORV! We found a couple dealers that had the 22FQS on production run for July/August, so hopefully it will work out. It's crzy ORV only makes each model about once a year!
@@IreneIronTravels Yep, I'm told the next production run of the model we really like, the 26KVS, currently isn't scheduled until the late spring or summer of 2022. Hopefully we'll figure something out. Good luck with yours!
We are looking at Lance and Outdoorsrv. Our son's Lance did fine in 20 degree temps last winter. Having Azdel walls is higher quality. No delamanation. Less formaldehyde.
My dream TT used to be an Airstream, until I started looking into them more closely. They are deficient in storage space, and have very small capacities in fresh/grey/black water. They also feel quite cramped inside. I think Outdoors RV is a wonderful choice.
Congrats! Looks like a perfect choice for you two. Watched the Adventurous Way folks make their revisions to the browness of it all so I know you can lighten it up. Glad you’re going to do it right away.
In 32 years we have owned 17 rvs. We have been in an ORV 24rks with an Anderson equalizer hitch 2 1/2 years. We boondock a lot. Love big tanks. It has been the best insulated trailer we have ever owned. In fact so well insulated even with slide out fantastic fan needs other fan open to pull air easily. On our model 3 fantastic fans with covers come standard. One over the bed is a two way fan. Large refrigerator compared to other small rvs. Also orv stayed with nice steps for entry. (Only heard problems with big steps that fold out of rv). You won’t be sorry!
@@IreneIronTravels In our opinion, most rvs have gone downhill recently: cheaply made. ORV costs more but at least the one we have has had few issues. All Rvs have somethings wrong; they are after all aluminum or wood boxes on wheels. We had a list of 14 items on a Sunseeker Motorhome we owed. Two were repaired, the rest we had to live with. The only problem with ORV we’ve had was one window wouldn’t open easily and it was fixed and now works fine. We added solar to trickle charge batteries. We changed out one 12 volt battery for two 6s. We have not really explored lithium battery setup bc we have a generator. In the rv world, finding a fair and honest dealer is as important as the rv you choose.
We looked hard at this model and ended up going with the 2021 Lance 1995 based on level of quality instead. Enjoy your travels!! look forward to the new videos that will come from this big move!
I only discovered ORV a couple of months ago because a friend has one. I was impressed with hers and everything I’ve read about and seen on RUclips makes me impressed with them also. I like the open bed concept. Walls use up a lot of space. When I’m ready to give up my 1986 Avion 30 P, I will probably go with an ORV.
I think you made a great choice. My fiancé and I own a Lance 1995. We bought it in 2019. Since then, we've experienced leaking around the skylights, a metal plate randomly falling from underneath the fridge related to the furnace...THEN on my trip just this past week I found the microwave to be half hanging out and the mounting screws totally out, and leaking from underneath the coach as I was connected to city water. Granted I-70 has some rough road around the Eisenhower tunnel area in Colorado, but you'd think a RV microwave should be able to handle the shaking. 🤦🏼♀️ As my fiancé has called Lance for help, they've offered very little...and they even tried to dismiss us before our warranty was up. (Now officially, we hit our 2 years June 8th, and he called for help in May) However he called ORV, and they said that they will stand with their product for a long as you own it. They even tried to help my fiancé with the issues we're having now! Long story short, our next camper will definitely be a ORV!! Great choice!
I am by no means an expert or even an intermediate commentator on trailers but I think you’re selection based on your needs and finances was excellent. Love the winter capabilities as well. Thomyt
Goo decision. We just sold our Travato and bought a travel trailer too. We already had a 4wd Yukon with tow package and look forward to unhooking and exploring off road. Your thinking is very sound and your rig will suit you well!
I'm 6'3" . Like you, I eliminate all RV's I cannot stand straight in. We needed a motorhome for my wife's convenients;so, own the Winnebago navion and cannot be happier. That said, I prefer a 4 seasons travel trailer with plenty of ground clearance. You made a great choice! OCCC is a huge safety issue. My Navion's is 1,350 so We are very careful. Most buyers don't even know what OCCC is since the RV industry does not list in their marketing and can only be assured by actually looking on the door sticker...upgrades eat away at the weight quickly.
Very true!! We have heard good things about the Navon's and are glad your liking it! Our Interstate van had a crazy 2200LB OCCC and that is one of the reasons we went with it! It does get eaten up quickly like you said!!
It is a term airstream uses ( and others I imagine) occupant & cargo carrying capacity. Same meaning as payload or just overall cargo capacity. Seems different manufacturers and industries use different terms!
Hey y'all, I discovered RV living about a year ago, instantly became retirement plan, 4 or 5 years to go. Discovered ORV while looking at makes and models and am completely sold on 22FQS. Look forward to your reviews and adventures. Take Care I've got in mind the greatest mod that is, I believe, an awesome addition. Let me know if interested
Hey Bill! I'm surprised this 22FQS isn't more popular with the fulltime crowd.....there are only like 6 videos on youtube! Yes, would love to hear your mod idea! You can email it if you prefer. IreneIronFitness@gmail.com
Perfect, perfect, perfect!!!!!!!!!!! we love that RV, we didn't know about it until we saw it at Adventurous Way, Matt and Diana. We currently have a Vanleigh Vilano 43' and our thoughts are if we ever change RV's, we'd go for the Outdoors RV. We loved it!!! We are soooooooo happy for you both!!!! Cannot wait to see you guys living in it already. Awesome!!!!
Congratulations! Really happy for you guys. You will fill a you tube niche very well. There are too many class B channels. With your personalities, it should really pop.
I echo this comment! Many Class A, B, Road Warrior 5th wheels, and trailer channels; But, None I know of with a "bad ass" truck oof tenter, matched with a living large Western engineered Mountain backcountry boondocking rig!!
You will love your ORV. We have had ours for 3 years and are very happy. The high ground clearance and large tanks are great. Also the large refrigerator is so nice to have. The dinette is massive. We have the 24RKS and it is the perfect size for our needs. Can’t wait to see yours.
Wow! yes correct decision. I wouldn't worry about having separate bedroom because how much time do you really spend in there! Camping and full time RV'ing is all about exploring and experiences!! I can't wait for video tours and your changes and to watch Chris painting and enjoying her kitchen! So excited for you both!
Congratulations the ORV trailer looks great and most importantly it works for you both. Don’t know much about trailers but look forward to seeing the upgrades and adventures.
Amazing! Especially the 80 gallon fresh water tank; The huge kitchen counter space. With even more, to the left. And the lighting is a big plus. Lots of lights. Probably could put plastic curtains attached to the ceiling, by bed. Or use, light wood accordian style wood. Using ceiling tracks to close off bedroom. Can make it so one side closes from left to right. Then the other side, from right to left . So you didn't have to close that from far left to far right, for example. A new towable premieres Monday night. The Alliance Avenue 32 RLS. It has 101 inch width. Unheard of, in.towables. At about 10, 350 lbs. Also, lighter than most. Although, this is probably too much weight, for off-roading. The main thing with towables is get the right truck. And the correct towing hitch, for the weight of the trailer. With stablizers, by the hitch. Making it easier to tow. Instead of all of the entire weight being on the tow hitch
Yes, they say, Their's is like a bigger trailer. Compacted into a smaller trailer, reducing the weight. As if its a bigger trailer. For the price of a bigger trailer. I think most of the Rv's and towables use Asdale insulation, within the insulating panels, now. This means, there is no delamination between the panels. Like from water,. Causing a warp effect to the panels.
Hi guys. Great buy/video! We got ours last summer, a 24RLS Anniversary Series - really like the build quality! We as well did consider Airstream (I love the look) but you can't only buy looks...right? lol. The only thing: it's heavy! we have a 1500 Series GMC with the big engine (power not an issue) but the pin is really high! We will change over to a 2500 Series GMC in a couple of years, just so we can travel all over. One buying factor for us: carrying capacity: 2000lbs & plus. That makes a huge difference when traveling! Have fun in your travels! Remi, Canada
Hello Chris and Aaron! I finally got to finish your video (I was waiting for my boss's in Des Moines to bring them back to CO when I commented last). Excellent comparisons with the other rigs! Thank you for walking us through those!! I look forward to seeing your rig as you do your mods! I haven't seen too many of your videos that cover you on the east coast. So, I do feel you made a great choice with your selection. They do have some Lance's at Holiday RV, so hopefully they will have some in stock when you go to pick your ORV up. I did really like them. As a matter of fact, when we stopped there to look at a small geo pro trailer, they had a Lance 1985 or 1995. We really liked it! And the sales manager was honest enough to recommend staying with a geo pro as at the time, we were really thinking of using the rig for only 3 years. We have upgraded our vision to most likely doing up to 5 years of 1-2 week boondocking, before we retire and start doing 1-2 month trips. Of course, our ORV is about the same cost as a Lance, so we have gone against the sales managers recommendations; but we feel is is a solid option to maybe get closer to 8 or 10 yrs use out of it. Safe travels!!!!
Thanks Alan! Yes...sooo many options to choose and how do we know if we made the right choice! Only time will tell and nothing is permanent in life, so we just have to go with our gut! ORV feels right!
I think you made the right decision. ORV doesn't have the "cool" factor of the Airstream, but I think the ORV is a much better suited rig for your travel style.
Exact same floor plan as our 2020 Cougar 22rbs. Other than the debate of build quality and fresh water capacity, the Cougar provides a king size bed. . I really like this TT.
That is a nice trailer. 80 gallons fresh and a combined 80 gallons in black and grey, is massive for your boondocking affinity. If you get a supplemental fridge/freezer and keep it in the truck, you can hit the 14 day boondocking limit without breaking a sweat, with those provision capacities. I think you made an excellent decision, for what you're going to be using it for. Have you decided what you're gonna do with the e-bikes? Are you gonna carry them in the truck bed, or will you put a rack on the back of the trailer and carry them that way?
Thanks! The trailer does have 250lb hitch and I think that is where the bikes will go for the time being since well have the tent on the bed of the truck. If we end up selling the tent down the road I would look into putting the bikes on the rack on the bed of the truck where the tent was.
Good afternoon Chris and Aaron!! I was a bit surprised that you chose ORV. But, since we had similar important considerations, I am now not surprised! This looks to be an awesome choice. Like you, we initially hadn’t been in a 22fqs. However, I was able to stop by Holiday RV when I was doing a snowshoe/backpacking trip in Feb (after I ordered it) to take a peek at a mountain series trimmed 22fqs. Zero regrets after I saw it! I was pretty comfortable just jumping out in the dark after it , initially, since we had looked at the ORVs there a few years ago. I am very excited for you two!! Safe travels!!
Hey guys! Found you via NRVTA and am excited to follow along. Your choice of RV’s is of interest to me. 6 yrs ago I purchased an Arctic Fox 25Y. The other option I looked at was the Lance. We’re happy we choose a Northwood product for many reasons. It has held up great. Spent some time with temps as low as 3 degrees with no freeze ups. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Safe travels!
Great choice! The titanium series has all the nice touches like the reading lights and you will love the big dinette. Really good boondocking rig. So nice to have the made up walk around bed with two nightstands. Very civilized glamping! 😎
I was just convinced you were getting an Airstream trailer, but now I’m VERY anxious to see how you “quiet all the browns” in your Outdoor RV! It definitely makes more sense for how you’ll use it, and I’m looking forward to seeing it WITH you guys!!
You have to pick what is best for you. Hopefully companies are following social media and listening to what consumers truly care about. I think it looks super cozy, bummer the bedroom is not closed off but you will make it work.
Well , I like your choice of trailer , looks nice .. as for Airstream trailers encase you weren't aware , because of all of the seams they have they are more likely to get leaks over time and they are difficult to find because the water can leak in between the outer skin and inner walls ... also believe it or not the aluminum skin can be dented fairly easily , if you are in a serious hail storm the roofs can be dented much easier than steel or fiberglass .. you can actually have your Airstream trailer totaled as a result of a bad hail storm ... I have watched numerous videos of people who own Airstreams and who live in them full time , they do have some negative issues along with the positive ones ... Enjoy your new trailer ...
We have a 2022 22FQS titanium on order. The best choice in the small footprint. The kitchen counter space and accessibility with slide in is also good. Tank size is great. Build quality. Auto leveling… I hope it does what is says… I hate the whole set up and level process with current trailer. Let’s gooooo!
Nice congrats! Hopefully these things start and finish on time. I discovered the mountain 22fqs will start build at the end of july and then the titanium will begin after towards the end of Aug.
Excellent choice! Hopefully you'll love your new 22FQS as much as we love our 2020 280KVS Titanium. We had the opportunity to tour the ORV factory twice before Covid shut those down and we were super impressed with the folks there and their commitment to quality. They let us know when our trailer was being built and we were able to arrange another tour to see our specific trailer and meet some of the folks building it. How many manufacturers would do that? Looking forward to following your new trailer adventures!
Super Great Overview - Thank You - It's Amazing, All The Travel Trailers You Went Over Were The Same Exact Ones That I've Been Researching for A Couple of Years Now and You Answered Most, If Not All of My Concerns. I Too Just Discovered The ORV and Am Planning on Getting The Same TITANIUM SERIES Floorplan As Well. I Also Love Your Idea of Changing or Painting Back-Splash Areas and Possibly The Entire Wood-work/Cabinets/Interior a Bit Lighter - Maybe Even White (Because I Hate The Brown on Brown on Tan and Brown Colors). And for the Lower MSRP on These ORV's, Compared To the Black Series HQ21, Airstream(s) and Lance's 2075 Models, I Could (You All Could) Still Be Twenty-Grand Lower with a New Brighter and Lighter Look. Could Be A Nice DIY Project For You Younger Folks, But As For Me, In My Early 70's, I Will Hire A Professional Person To Do The Work For Me. I Just Subscribed To Your Channel Here and Looking Forward To Learning More About Your Travels and Your Updated ORV Re-Creations and/or Interior Brighter Color Changes. Thanks Again... Peace, Blessings and Safe Traveling Always.
I’m 6’6” and I fit fine everywhere in a Black Series except where the air conditioner is. The company has actually been around for quite a while in Australia. These are true off roasters -they’re narrower for that reason
We have a lance 19 ft. and love it. Quality construction. Would have preferred better ground clearance and a curved roof, but needed something on the lighter side for our half ton truck. Big 45 gallon tanks, a large bathroom and tons of storage are a real plus. Definitely not designed for a lot of off road.
So happy you’re ok. We once came upon a black cloud across the highway that looked like smoke from a fire, by the time we got to it, something hit our windshield that sounded like gun shots. The rain was so bad we tried to pull over but couldn’t even see the soft shoulder. By the time we got to a little town to stop we saw big white balls the size of tennis balls that were actually hail. Our RV was a little dented but we were safe and had a great weekend camping.
Great choice for you two! That's an awesome trailer. Wish we could go for that, but it's too heavy for us to consider for our truck. Great for yours! We look forward to your adventures in it.
ORV 27ft toy hauler is our dream rig...the biggest problem is availability such a long wait time for them...Congratulations on a great choice and happy days ahead!
Looks like you made an excellent choice! We just did our maiden voyage with our new 2021 2108DS Winnebago Micro Minnie. We purchased it last Fall in....wait for it...Duluth, MN!! We live in WA state. We researched for a while. So satisfying to feel you picked the right one for your personal needs/desires!
Did we make the right choice....What do YOU think?

I’m considering both Lance & ORV for the insulation properties as well.
-Lance is a 50+YR old builder,
known for 4 seasons & truck
campers mostly.
The main differences are as
Follows:
• Lance’s are built with Azdel,
which means de-lamination,
cracking, mold & mildew are
not an issue their trailers have.
(ORV uses thin luann wood,
which is susceptible to every moisture related issue and
de-lamination)
• Lance’s water tanks (all 3)
are wrapped with insulation,
and are dropped into a 3 sided
hull, which have furnace ports into the hulls, have 12v tank pad heaters attached to each tank.
(WAY better than ORV)
• Lance’s Roof materials are
made of PVC. (A superior product to ORV’s TPO/rubber
membrane roofs.)
- Lance is lighter weight, but
they build all their cabinetry,
and use a European lumber,
which they cut with a computer
cutting router. (C&C Machining)
• Lance Has 3 interior choices
of upholstery. (ORV needs to update on both color/fabrics)
• Lance’s heating system is
ducted through their cabinets
(ORV has floor vent registers)
• Lance has more exterior cargo
capability
• ORV has been in business
11+years,
Is an offshoot of Northwood MFG (same owners, own both)
they have these things BETTER
than Lance:
*1-Family Owned Corporation
*in-house built frames,
*off-road clearance height,
*off-road suspension,
*cold weather kits on their refrigerators as standard,
*Greater tank capacity
*Greater cargo capacity
ORV trailers are 9995lb gvwr
(Lance’s GVWR is much lower.)
-So, to compare in my case,
I’m looking for what I have-to
tweak the *least* in the solid essentials & of the 2, which
has greater resale/trade-in
value. Last, I will be winter
camping/some & full timing,
but my truck is 5.9l V8 4x4
capable of 12.5k lbs GCVWR.
(Sounds like you all are bigger)
I’m leaning towards a lighter weight, More outer cargo spaces, Azdel (big factor)
and Lance’s Tank inside a tank
insulation system, factors a lot.
-Lance’s PVC roof is also big.
Again, I don’t want to tweak
very much.
If you’ve properly checked all
your trucks capabilities, and
know your GCWR, I’d say, go
Look at the Lance’s in person,
and watch their factory tours
on RUclips so you know how
they are built.
*Price wise, they are priced about the same, and are both
truly 4 season rated. I’ve been
Researching for 5 years while
Ive been taking care of elderly parents. I’m ready to hit the road, and am waiting for my
lil’ sis to fully takeover w/mom.
May your decision be the right
one made for you.✌🏼
Thank you for that!!😊
Great break down of lance and orv! Lance certainly does have a lot going for them. I look forward to touring a few of them when we get back on the road!! No RV is prefect for sure, so we also look forward to testing this ORV out!!
@@IreneIronTravels
-If I had more truck,
I’d get the 21TRX from ORV!
(on-board genny & patio doors!)
-I will be following your story,
God Bless!
And congratulations on choice of rig. Well thought out and looks like a great rig. Can’t believe the water capacity. That’s great.
Welcome to the ORV club. We’ve had our Backcountry 24KRS for almost a year now and love it. Built like a tank and absolutely no issues.
Thanks! That's really great to hear from an owner and we're expecting good things!
Everyone who talks about their ORV has nothing but glowing reviews! That, for me, speaks for itself!
Congratulations on your new ORV! We live full time in an ORV Mountain Series 21FQS and love it!
Didn't realize these are made in La Grande, Oregon! Very cool.
All good points! The build run starts in July and we hope to see it at the end of summer into fall time!
Your so right about loss of heat and cooling with Airstream. Also condensation and cold to touch interior walls. Good choice.
You will love it!! We have an Outdoors RV BackCountry 20BD. Fantastic RV.
I also live in Minnesota and own a 2019 260RLS Outdoors RV. Absolutely love it! We travel to the southwest every spring and can boondock very comfortably with those large tanks. Agree with your assessment of colors but we felt it was the best fit for our style of camping. Enjoy!
We think you made the PERFECT choice!!! (Especially based on Matt and Diane's reviews/use of that their rig). CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Thanks! That's good testimonial for sure from them!!
I think Oudoor RV has the best products on the market. I like your other choices as well, but you chose the best.
We do both really love Airstreams! Our first love😍! And we might just come crawling back!!😂
@@IreneIronTravels Airstreams Does NOT Have Any Exterior Storage, Let Alone Interior Storage Like The ORV...!!!
I like that idea!!
Thanks!
Congratulations 🍾🎊 We have a 25fb Airstream Globetrotter…….but I can see why you chose the Outdoor trailer….we have been in Matt and Diane’s…very nice 👍
We have seen the Black Series in person at the Tampa RV show 2 years ago….very impressed 🙌🙌
Congrats!! So glad you found something perfect for your lifestyle! Decor will be easy to change up, stick on backsplash, couple area rugs, curtains, it will be homey in no time. The extra room is so awesome!! Enjoy.
Yes! Thank you! We are looking forward to making it home!!
Wow!! Chris, all the cooking you can do in that huge galley!!! So happy y'all found what works for you. Hope you love it!!! ~carol
Thanks Carol! The big kitchen was a major point for us! Thanks guys!
The kitchen counter is even longer than the queen size bed. Oh la la. Nice!
It is big! 🤣🤣
80 gal fresh water! WOW!! Nice choice.
Thanks! Yes,Big upgrade from 26! 🤣
@@IreneIronTravels We have a 2021 Lance 1985 and love it. I have not heard of this trailer but seems very nice.
Nice! We look forward to seeing some of Lance's. Everyone seems to love them!
Great to watch.... for offroading Black Series is the best. Whatever you choose that fits best for you, its the perfect choice.
Wise choice, Outdoors rv is the best for what we do...
Nice! Good to hear you like them!
So true 👍, thanks!!!
Airstream has better resale value and last longer
let me add some reassurance, I think Lance is more for the full Hook-up retired folks from what I have seen over the years.
Thanks guys, appreciate that!
I'm happy for you, but I was pulling for the airstream
Thanks! I think we both really thought AS at first as well, but we're hoping we made a good choice!😳
@@IreneIronTravels You Made The Right Choice... I Am With You - Read My Concerns Above.
Congrats! The 26KVS T is a pretty nice rig! We’ll always love the Airstreams too. Appreciate the note and enjoy that new trailer.😊
Great choice! If you need any pointers on remodeling, let us know. We can also send you the plans for our custom desk if you're feeling a little more adventurous!
Thanks guys! We will definitely need them! We rewatched your remodel vids and it looks like a ton of work!! But looks great!
Matt, we would love to see your plans for your custom desk. We sold our house and will be going full time in June. I work from home so I am concerned about using the dinette as my work space. Your design is so well thought out and functional, I love it!
@@cathyconrad3198 sure thing! Send us a note via our website and I'll send them over: www.adventurousway.com/contact
You are going to love your ORV!!! We LOVE ours!!! Truly a quality build! We have a 2018 Back Country Series 24 KTS. Congrats!!
Congrats! Glad you got something that makes you happy!!! We will keep watching to see how much you are enjoying it!!!
We are looking at Lance and Outdoorsrv. Our son's Lance did fine in 20 degree temps last winter. Having Azdel walls is higher quality. No delamanation. Less formaldehyde.
You guys are going to love this trailer! So exciting.
Thanks guys! We hope so too! It will be fun to caravan around a bit with the Nash cousin!
Great choice & welcome to the ORV family! We have had our Mountain Series 21RD for 4 years now and no regrets...enjoy & safe travels!
Nice! Thank you!😃
Orv makes a solid unit. Enjoy!
My dream TT used to be an Airstream, until I started looking into them more closely. They are deficient in storage space, and have very small capacities in fresh/grey/black water. They also feel quite cramped inside. I think Outdoors RV is a wonderful choice.
Its ez to puncture the shell too. Lightweight thin aluminum finish - tree branches r a hazard.
Awesome selection! It’s our choice as well.
Congrats! Looks like a perfect choice for you two. Watched the Adventurous Way folks make their revisions to the browness of it all so I know you can lighten it up. Glad you’re going to do it right away.
Thanks Joan!!
Oh wow! How do you like it compared to the others?
Outdoors rv is a great rv. I love mine and has been a great trailer. Congrats
I wish there was a dealer here in Florida!
You made the right decision.
As my fiancé has called Lance for help, they've offered very little...and they even tried to dismiss us before our warranty was up. (Now officially, we hit our 2 years June 8th, and he called for help in May) However he called ORV, and they said that they will stand with their product for a long as you own it. They even tried to help my fiancé with the issues we're having now!
Long story short, our next camper will definitely be a ORV!! Great choice!
Wait a minute !! You did what ?? Fantastic and I’m sure you will have great adventures with this Outdoor RV . Congratulations!! BS & BK
Thanks Larry!! BS&BK!!
I am by no means an expert or even an intermediate commentator on trailers but I think you’re selection based on your needs and finances was excellent. Love the winter capabilities as well. Thomyt
Thanks Thomyt!!
Goo decision. We just sold our Travato and bought a travel trailer too. We already had a 4wd Yukon with tow package and look forward to unhooking and exploring off road. Your thinking is very sound and your rig will suit you well!
For off grid camping, it's the better choice without a doubt, especially the versions with the built in generator.
And what does OCCC stand for? Overall Combined Carrying Capacity?
It is a term airstream uses ( and others I imagine) occupant & cargo carrying capacity. Same meaning as payload or just overall cargo capacity. Seems different manufacturers and industries use different terms!
Good choice guys
Thanks Becky!!
Good choice - Enjoy and Happy Trails!
Thanks Bruce!
Hey y'all, I discovered RV living about a year ago, instantly became retirement plan, 4 or 5 years to go. Discovered ORV while looking at makes and models and am completely sold on 22FQS. Look forward to your reviews and adventures. Take Care
I've got in mind the greatest mod that is, I believe, an awesome addition. Let me know if interested
Hey Bill! I'm surprised this 22FQS isn't more popular with the fulltime crowd.....there are only like 6 videos on youtube! Yes, would love to hear your mod idea! You can email it if you prefer. IreneIronFitness@gmail.com
We just bought an airstream and couldn’t see getting anything else the quality is amazing
They are nice! We loved ours!
Awesome!!!!
Thank you! That is a good compliment to ORV if you guys like them as much as your Vanleigh! We hope we do too!!
Love it! Like the ground clearance for boondocking. Great counter space in kitchen. Great choice!
Thanks guys!! We hope it's a good choice!!
Congratulations! Really happy for you guys. You will fill a you tube niche very well. There are too many class B channels. With your personalities, it should really pop.
Thanks! That would be a nice bonus!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Wow! yes correct decision. I wouldn't worry about having separate bedroom because how much time do you really spend in there! Camping and full time RV'ing is all about exploring and experiences!! I can't wait for video tours and your changes and to watch Chris painting and enjoying her kitchen! So excited for you both!
So true! Thanks Colleen, appreciate it!!
Congratulations the ORV trailer looks great and most importantly it works for you both. Don’t know much about trailers but look forward to seeing the upgrades and adventures.
Thanks! Yes, it will be a big learning curve from the ease and comfort of the van!!
Thank you for sharing all the details!
Thanks! Good insight! It will be interesting to see Alliance come into the market. I did check out their 5th wheels!
The new Alluance Avenue 32 RLS,,.Less price than a bigger.towable. But with similar amenities, like a bigger towable
Thanks Frank! We are hoping it will be a good fit as well!
So happy for you, it is very similar to the one we have. The floor plan is so great, you will love the kitchen and the slide out Have fun
Can't wait! Thank you!
Exact same floor plan as our 2020 Cougar 22rbs. Other than the debate of build quality and fresh water capacity, the Cougar provides a king size bed. . I really like this TT.
Great choice! I love the “bones” of all the Outdoors RV trailers. Looking forward to seeing your mods of the interior.
Thanks! 👍
Thanks Alan! Good to hear you still liked it after seeing one in person! We hope we feel the same way!😂
We removed our shades and valances in or 21rbs and added black out pull down shades. It really lightened it up
Great choice you all. Looking forward to your new, extended adventures.
Thanks Liz!!
Hello👋! Appreciate you watching!
Great choice! The titanium series has all the nice touches like the reading lights and you will love the big dinette. Really good boondocking rig. So nice to have the made up walk around bed with two nightstands. Very civilized glamping! 😎
Thanks! 👍
Congrats! Thanks for sharing your process. Let's see what Chris does with paint!
We shall see!! Thanks!!
Love the decision! I have been quite impressed with ORV.
Thanks Heather!
Thanks Jim! I just watched your tour vids and some of your mods. Nice! We definitely be doing the dimmers... we use them all the time in our van.
I just came across the Outdoors Backcountry and really like what I’m seeing! Perfect timing! Thanks!
I’m 6’6” and I fit fine everywhere in a Black Series except where the air conditioner is. The company has actually been around for quite a while in Australia. These are true off roasters -they’re narrower for that reason
I lived in Duluth, MN when I was a kid! Learned how to ice skate & ice fish there! lol In Tampa Bay now! :)
Congratulations! Very happy for you and look forward to interior and electrical changes. We’ll be watching!
Thanks Sue!!
In 28 yrs of trucking- only once,I drove into a black- well, a wall of black- it’s really something, huh !
Great choice for you two! That's an awesome trailer. Wish we could go for that, but it's too heavy for us to consider for our truck. Great for yours! We look forward to your adventures in it.
Happy for you both. You made a great choice! Love we ground clearnce!
Thanks so much! 😊
Can't wait to see all the year-round adventures you have in store. BIG congrats!!!
Congrats, many happy adventures in your new home.
Thank you! 😊
I’m soo proud of you two!!
Soo exciting!!
YAY!!!
ORV 27ft toy hauler is our dream rig...the biggest problem is availability such a long wait time for them...Congratulations on a great choice and happy days ahead!
Those toy haulers do look great! Thanks!!
Awesome choice !
Thanks!!
Congratulations!! Love it!!! Look forward to the tour and upgrades!!!
Thanks! Oh wow Duluth!! The micro minnes do have some great floor plans! Enjoy your new rig!!
Congratulations!! 🎉. I’m looking forward to more cooking videos!
Thanks! Yes, more cooking vids!!!!
