aah this is amazing!! was directed here from a wc fan friend of mine, and you can completely ignore this but I can see other people getting pissy at the song! to clear up some things, it was removed from the ‘98 film because it was running too long (over 2 hours), and the actor was physically unable to perform it (he was blind when recording!). it’s only really been cut from english productions in the last ten years or so (can’t tell which version you’ve used, sounds closer to the og broadway if I had to guess, not sure if that changes much tho ngl), but in 2014 ish it was completely revised (lyrics, genre, costumes, etc). ofc I’m not in the position to say whether it’s still offensive or not, but it’s a whole lot better than what it used to be! do with this information what you will, but your animation to it is banger imo

I’m honestly not sure which version I used either, I downloaded the song from a RUclips recording of it and then based my designs on researching cats costume designing separately so it’s sort of a mish-mash of separate sources. I really just wanted the video to be a love letter to Cats as a whole and the song choice was an unfortunate misstep on my part 😅 I’m really glad you enjoyed the video!

Top ten most underrated video’s- but seriously, I love the designs and the animation is very well done! Very cool! I love how fluffy Tigerclaw is and the colours put together, it also makes him look intimidating! It’s very impressive!

As a FREAK who has seen cat live FOUR TIMES and has the show on DVD (and as a warriors fan i guess) this might just be the most incredible thing ive ever laid my eyes on....... You absolutely NAILED the vibe of rhe costuming and the sketchy, vibrant animation goes SO WELL with the musicak im going to watch this 100 times now

I was surprised to hear this song is somewhat rare, I was lucky enough to see it in a live performance at a pretty prestigious local theater around 2008-2009, I think it was by the main touring production. I can't remember if they edited the lyrics or not.
Tbh, I’m not a huge wc fan but ended up here because I’m a HUGE cats fan, and only from that, I really loved this! No context for who these guys are (except I assume tigerstar is growltiger) but I love all of their designs, especially how you mixed the weird human face proportions and the big costumes from cats with more quadrupedal cat features.
It's unfortunate that you couldn't have found any other song, or just made up a different concept with another song from Cats. The thing about art preservation is that the song is already preserved - you can still listen to it at any time. It hasn't gone anywhere. So the fact that you purposefully took so much time and effort to transform a racist song to conform to Warrior Cats is in bad taste. Telling people to just "ignore" those parts (especially since you gave ALL the Bloodclan cats blue, slanted eyes? you could reason that you're trying to conform to the song, but didn't give Tigerstar one eye or one ear?) doesn't help your case either, because they can't be separated. You are a talented artist, but this is disappointing. I hope you consider learning from this and doing better in the future.
@@vana4076 gave the blood clan cats blue slanted eyes to look more realistically cat-like and didn’t really think about it until after the fact, as stated in the description already. And I did conform tigerstars design to the song, I gave him one damaged and black-circled eye in order to evoke the original lyrics. This was the only song from cats that really struck me as paralleling any of the warrior cats storylines and so I just hopped on the inspiration while it was still strong, as it often gets away from me. The thing with liking old media is that a lot of it unfortunately doesnt conform to modern sensibilities of what is right and wrong, and you can’t change that. The majority of the song fits tigerstars character, but it’s unfortunately just not possible to remove the less than tasteful parts of it. I understand not wanting to watch or associate with the material, and that’s totally fine and respectable. But at the same time, I like the song, I like the musical, I like the costume design, and I like the Cats creative team, and I am simply unable to change any bad decisions they have made. I did my best to remove any elements of racism from the visuals while still evoking the original costuming, and I added a disclaimer in the description. Beyond that, I dont know what else you expect me to do by leaving this comment - the video is already made, and I will not be taking it down. I completely understand if you don’t feel comfortable watching it, but watching it or not is your own decision.
