- Don Felder of The Eagles played the Hotel California opening riff with a capo on 7. If you're playing it live you may want to be able to perform the song capo-free to retain the full freedom of the fretboard. Here's how to handle that opening riff without a capo...
This video was originally uploaded to my main channel @JamesHargreavesGuitar on the 24th August, 2018. It never went live because it had the Eagles' recording of the song playing in the background, and got copyright-blocked. This has now been fixed...
The C barre chord is hell for me to learn but thanks for this video it's really helpful.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely Genius !!!
Very good, very good indeed. I will be using this. I'm one who has to flip the capo off halfway through the song...
Outstanding
Hey bro that super cool...i was searching something to improve my picking..this song is so amazing for that...not super easy but possible with a lot of work..thx c u
He played the interverse leads on the 6 string neck. He only used the 12 string neck for the song intro and the 2 verses. ALL other work was on the 6 string neck. Watch the live video from 1977.
In listening to the multitrack and through countless interviews Felder says he uses a 12-string acoustic throughout the entire recording. He uses a double neck during live shows
Does anybody know anyone in the world who is playing Hotel California with a capo on the second fret?
I love this song
👍

@@JamesHargreavesGuitar2 wow I am honoured!!!!!!!!!
Not to mention, removing and adding a capo tends to detune the guitar.
