Finally got it. I´ve been trying to play this part correct since 1978 - with poor luck. Now I have the bricks to build it and all I need to do is practice - which is the easy part, when you know what to do. So thanks A LOT!
Amazing work. I have been able to play the solo for a couple of years but it never sounded quite right. I kept thinking I just needed to find the right tone/delay/reverb. All the magic is in the little nuances you demonstrate.
Man I played guitar for 6 years before I got married and had kids. I was in a couple bands, played a few bars etc, but I could only ever play rythem. To watch a tutorial like this wouldn't help me much, as I just couldn't seem to wrap my mind around it. Fast forward 7 years and my babies are getting older leaving me some free time to play and it's like I'm a whole different person watching this. It seems laughable that I couldn't chew this before but now it seems totally digestible. I'm glad I kept guitar in mind on the back burner all this time.
I've watched other videos of various people showing how to play this solo, and I have to say that yours is the best I've seen. Thank you for taking time for putting this together, for going thru all the notes, finger placements, I found your videos easy to follow and learn. I've been wanting to learn how to play this since i was a kid 45 years ago!
I'm very glad I came across this, I've been playing parts of the solo wrong without realizing it. Hopefully I can shave off the learned mistakes without too much trouble. Thank you.
Sir, you are like Mr Nicola Gugoski....giving.....you dont hold back in your tutorring your music to the beginners..thank you from Digos City, Davao del Sur, Philippines...hope all will so, so us beginners can follo up easily

I played this wrong my whole life even at gigs lol but something tells me i'm about to play it right. Thanks for the time and effort. This video is what we needed.
Been wanting to learn that song since l was a kid.. Gave up when l was in my teens.. I saw a Don Felder video the other day and finally learned the right chords.. Now, learning the solo is really fun.. Nice job on the video.. Thank you
This is a great tutorial. Really cleared up a few parts I was doing incorrectly. I knew it was wrong but couldn’t figure out what it was till now. Your teaching of this was spot on. I will now be able to correct my problems and make it sound just right. This solo is epic and may be my all time favorite. Just like the song you know what it is in the first 4 notes. Very recognizable by anyone who listened to classic rock. I am subscribed to your channel now to see more great lessons. Thanks
Phenomenal lesson my friend. I don't understand how you don't have way more views and subscribers. I only came across your channel last night by chance. Ive been looking for a video for a long time teaching how to play this incredible solo properly.
I know why. It's that he uses the names of the notes instead of telling string+fret. Puts off beginners who don't have the fretboard memorized yet. Incredible lesson, though.
Fantastic lesson! Grazie mille! Can you tell what gear you use to get that beautiful sound? Reverb maybe? And some pedal? I'm a beginner and have a Strat type guitar. Greetings from Svezia!
Olá Alberto. Sou Franz from Brazil-São Paulo city. Explêndida e esclarecedora lição deste solo com todos os detalhes de "pegadaS" originais do Mistrer Don Felder. wait i wanna know how does the sound change a bit when u bend cause like in my guitar the sound doesn't change, it stays the same, apart from that this was rlly helpful thank uuu🫶🏻
For all those players out there- and I know you exist because I was just very recently one of you- that wonder why you know every note of a solo but still can't make it sound right- this video shows and explains to you why. All these little nuances he's explaining- like don't pick this note, make sure you slide off this bend, etc.- that's why. These little things are what make a solo sound "right"- which really just means, how you're used to it sounding. So, now you know what it is- what to do about it, right? You can't look up a video every time you need to work a solo out. So, get a recording of the solo- now break it into licks, now you already know the notes so just sit and play along with each lick and listen for these nuances- slides, bends, hammer-ons, places where they don't pick, or where they use different picking techniques, pinch harmonics, etc. Don't move to the next lick until you get the one you're working on to sound right. If the whole solo is legato and flows together- break it into licks anyway- and once you learn every lick- learn how to transition from one to the next seamlessly and you got it.
Ciao Alberto! Once again 🌟, you've hit on, & have shared one of my few, all time favorite, songs . . . some of them I've actually learned, or worked on: like this one (Ha-Ha-Ha 🤡!). This is the last song I worked on. I've got all the chords, both the weird inversions (some CAGED, some piano [I suspect {?}]) & all their more everyday shapes, & maybe 1/3rd of the 1st lead. Picking's no issue. I had a 1954 Custom "Les Paul" once, too 😏. THANK YOU for your 😇 generosity in sharing your insights with the world!!!!! @@albertolombardimusic Yep. paid $400. for it in 1969 / 1970. That would be around $2,989.75 today. It had the lowest / best action I've ever played, with a "Fretless Wonder" neck (it had frets, the action was so low it was just called that, as far as I know). Around 1983s I had to let it go, so I sold it on consignment through a local vintage instrument dealer, who sold it to a Japanese buyer. I think I got about $3,500. for it, which would be around $9,639.41 today. Who truly owns anything, . . . really. At best we can only hope to be well intentioned care takers. rarely does anyone play this with the backing track because it's easy to rush the tempo. I consider this to be more advanced due to the need to play in the pocket and even behind tempo in one section while managing bending precisely and with style. Otherwise great tone you have and stressing the ghost notes and nuances with the bends.

@@albertolombardimusic oh really, maybe you could say the fret and string and then acknowledge what note it is. Anyways they’re great videos. I’m just not aware of all the notes like that

This was a fantastic lesson in that you explained all the subtle nuances of the solo. Best solo lesson I have found. BTW, when you played the practice solo at the end, what speed was that? Maybe 75% speed?
ohhhhh yeahhhhh. idk how many times Ive heard this tasty jam over the years but it is a perfect piece of music front to back. Its a master class in songwriting and melody across the board.
