Bonjour le solo est bien fait 🙏🤝🏻 c'est très bien expliqué les accords aussi original cette chanson Hôte California très Beau mélodie 🌺🌻🌷🌹💐 à bientôt merci beaucoup
Sir, you are amazing - not only do you have it all down you explain it without getting boring - great job! I'll have to listen and mimic for hours but I'll get it thanks to you. Thank You!!!
I have to thanks you for taking the time to do this, But for me the hard part is the break up of the licks, The way you broke them down are like in mid lick or phrasing of a memorable lick so for me it makes it harder to hear in my head, I find myself go past your stopping points and filling in the areas not yet covered, If this makes any sense at all. I think you'll get what im saying. Thanks for the time.
Just a thought - isn't trying to learn solo's without learning the theory behind them a bit like trying to learn to count to 100 without noticing any patterns? just learning sequences surely does nothing for you
It's like my fingers just don't want to play 21:17 - 21:20 xP Suddenly I'm blank and then I'm working on muscle memory alone for a while and then I've completely stopped for some reason lol. Brain fart?
This is as good as it gets for a hotel California solo tutorial. I cannot thank you enough, I never thought I would learn this song this quick and I owe that to you
+Knawledge & Bookshelves Seriously, for about a year. I had just picked up the axe again when I decided to learn this one, so my calluses weren't super thick yet.
Jason Stroppa me too haha I remember I started November of last year, and I'm actually nailing the bends it's just I keep hitting the wrong notes & its screwing me up haha it's hard to play perfectly
From 2:10, I want to learn this part, just to be able to make those "solo facial expressions"! (You'll see!) Also, this is the best tutorial! *Thank you so damn much for this!* 🙋👍
After 30 yrs of trying to learn to play that amazing solo, I feel I'm finally making some headway. A few more weeks should do it. I've got all the techniques down and can nearly do it. I love the way you've broken it down into chunks to make it easier. Thank the Lord for RUclips and for your tutorial. This kind of playing is far more musical sounding than modern stuff. Thanks very much!
absolutely great lesson. i always have put off learning this. you make it easy. great idea breaking it up into segments. the outro is a bitch to remember but im almost there thanks to you. thanks much
7th fret, 7th fret ( well what string?) On countless occasions I've had to stop and look and stop and look because you refuse to inform what string your playing. Sure you say what fret you are playing. It would be much more efficient for people learning this song to just listen to what notes to play instead of having to constantly look for the notes being played. For the most part it's okay, but there are times when I spend a shit load of time rewinding and rewatching over and over again just to see what exactly you are playing. What takes 2 hour now takes 4 hour. Can anyone send a link to a more descriptive less time consuming lesson
personally, I like tutorials where basic knowledge is taken for granted and the guy says like "14th fret" without the string because you just stop and see.. but man there are parts where he just plays and that's it and I'm like.. what the hell
I was loosing my sanity till I found this video.still half crazy though, trying to get the bends. I use supper glues on my finger tips. Skin is gone.blood everywhere. 😂
Fantastic, thank you sir! I could never have figured our those nuances without your lesson! There's nothing better than the feeling you get when you can play that solo you've always wanted to play - thanks again!
This is one of those songs that’s easy and very quick to learn in a superficial level but, and it’s a big BUT, to play it properly, with style and panache, it’s pretty difficult to nail. If you can’t bend accurately, you may as well not bother. One by of the best ever, for sure.
This song is really really difficult, it appears that they combined several pieces of music which they could have used to create at least 10 songs, its difficult to imagine how they managed to make such a song, hats off to all those who managed to play this effortlessly, you guys are incredibly talented, i can and would rather play this piece of music on the keyboard definately not on a guitar, but that will not produce those kind of vibrations and sound effects...
The harmony part starting at 20:00 gets me every time. It's fast and weird. I'd be happy to simply fill in the empty spot in my solo with something that sounded OK. Everyone teaches that part different and I can't get it to sound right to me. Thanks for the lesson. Awesome solo. One of the best guitar solos ever. IMO
Thank you so so much for this. I have been working on it almost every day for four months. Got all the notes down now and just trying to get it dialed in just right. I'll be rocking this at the next family reunion thanks to you! I just can't thank you enough!!
Hi sean. just caught your tutorial on hotel california. I have only 1 thing to say. You are the king!!! ive seen a hell of a lot of lessons on this one but yours is definitely the best. thx for sharing your talent with all of us.
thank you so much for this lesson, it's realy perfect !!!! step for step and slowly - so its wonderful to learn.... greatings from Germany from Fritz near Munich...
Phase 1: Fiigure out in your head the individual notes/durations/method played, by listening to it repeadedly Phase 2: Figure out what combination of strings/frets and which fingers work best to replicate those notes phase 3: Begin repeating that pattern until you start to attain melodic fluidity phase 4: Play fluidly, pick up on errors phase 5: Refine, repeat
Thank you so much for this lesson I've tried so hard to learn this solo by ear and could never get it now I can play it thanks to this lesson! Thank u!
Thanks Guitarreference. I have been playing this solo for about forty years and of course play it with my own inflections. As a heavily influenced Gilmore and Clapton strat player I get some of there intonation and styling in everything I play. However I been looking at Felder for years and how he does things with his chops. You captured some of these on point and I have been adding them into my arsenal. Thanks so much for this great solo break down.
My fingers without calluses, or rather you can't see them, and each note sounds, tired do not feel, on the contrary, get pleasure from the game. Czardas Monti play quickly in a manner and beautiful!:)
The best I've come across to this tutorial so far, would be even better if all strings were mentioned though, I had a real problem with lick 11 in particular, 10-7, 10,7 was mentioned but not the strings.
Man ... my fingers are pretty messed up from all those bends but it's an awesome feeling ... I am really impresed of the feeling of this solo.I was not awere how technical it is. Thank you!
Thank you so fricking much man! I’d been tryna learn that solo for a while, and you’re the only one who explained well and fast enough to keep me from getting discouraged
This is an awful tutorial you are going to quickly and you don't explain what string you are hammering on and off when you say hammer from 7 to 9 no body knows whether it's the g string or d
Hey Guitarreference dude! THANK YOU so much for taking the time and posting this lesson. This is one classic solo that I always wanted to learn and thanks to you, I've finally done it! The way you broke down and explained each lick makes it much less intimidating to tackle. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and help those of us who absolutely appreciate what you do for us!
Amazing work Sir..! Thank you so much for taking the time to crate this fantastic tutorial, and for sharing your expertise... Much much appreciated...!
Yeah - at the end of the intro that was just painful to listen to - he consistently did over-bends, pushing the note sharper than it is supposed to be...but still he teaches it well.
Cảm ơn anh bạn nhiều, tôi đã đăng ký kênh của bạn . Stony Road XD
damn that sucks. learning it now since my lessons are every 2 weeks
I beat you! 17:47! Haha!

Lol same for me!

I drew blood practicing this solo. So I duck taped my fingers and kept playing. I WILL NAIL THIS!
Nioce
how long have you been playing ?
+Knawledge & Bookshelves
Seriously, for about a year. I had just picked up the axe again when I decided to learn this one, so my calluses weren't super thick yet.
+Knawledge & Bookshelves it's all the full step bends that killed me. Lol
(You'll see!)

Raymond Donaldson So did you learn it?
absolutely great lesson. i always have put off learning this. you make it easy. great idea breaking it up into segments. the outro is a bitch to remember but im almost there thanks to you. thanks much
i did not broke any of my guitar strings with this lesson but,i broke my keyboards rewind button .
This solo never fails to bring a smile to my face - awesome!
Most people on youtube show off and dont actually teach, this guy is definitely not one of them. Thank you for the great lesson

that tobacco burst is off the damn chain I want it!
thank you "Guitarreference". Your idea of breaking down the lick into small parts made this solo an easy one to learn!
This is one of those songs that’s easy and very quick to learn in a superficial level but, and it’s a big BUT, to play it properly, with style and panache, it’s pretty difficult to nail. If you can’t bend accurately, you may as well not bother. One by of the best ever, for sure.

I watched 15 minutes of this and then realized that's I don't have a guitar
Your going so fast it's confusing but I got it halfway there
Dude, you're awesome!!!
+Jimmie Romero Thanks Jimmie! Miss you man hope all is well with you and the family.
Why! What happened?
great video man. I'm reminded by this video that the pentatonic scale saves my life when I don't know where to solo
The harmony part starting at 20:00 gets me every time. It's fast and weird. I'd be happy to simply fill in the empty spot in my solo with something that sounded OK. Why i am here?! I dont play guitar.
Это тот случай, когда играешь правильные ноты, но ничего не получается(
I swear the outro doesn't sound right picking all 3 notes I feel this last part is done with a bunch of pull offs
Thank you so so much for this. I have been working on it almost every day for four months. Got all the notes down now and just trying to get it dialed in just right. I'll be rocking this at the next family reunion thanks to you! I just can't thank you enough!!
Sounds great... Kind of like trying to paint the Mona Lisa again as well... I play this one and feel this way.
Hi sean. just caught your tutorial on hotel california.
Good lesson and everything but your bending was a little sharp or flat all the way through the video. In all it was a good lesson.

Yeah kinda like your wish you were here video, Timing is off missed parts sloppy sounds really bad But Ok, you try harder.
Lisod man 😓

I just wish you put in tabs the description so i can memorize it a little bit easier and follow along easier but great job
My fingers without calluses, or rather you can't see them, and each note sounds, tired do not feel, on the contrary, get pleasure from the game. Czardas Monti play quickly in a manner and beautiful!:)
Great! But it just scream when you see your emotional person! You play with feeling, from the heart!:) I am from Odessa Ukraine, You my respect!!!:)
Excelente explicación amigo, muchas gracias
The best I've come across to this tutorial so far, would be even better if all strings were mentioned though, I had a real problem with lick 11 in particular, 10-7, 10,7 was mentioned but not the strings.
Sorry Paul thanks for letting me know will keep that in mind for future videos.
Yeah your a bad teacher it would be nice if you could show us what we've learned like I'm so confused lol
Просьба, когда я ищу этот урок, можно ли его предоставлять быстрее.
Man ... my fingers are pretty messed up from all those bends but it's an awesome feeling ... I am really impresed of the feeling of this solo.I was not awere how technical it is. Thank you!
Awesome lesson! I will get this down one of these days...
So sorry to report my video has been taken down by you tube. They claim that it is a copyright issue. Thank you for all of your support!
Guitarreference Now it's okay man. thank you
Thank you so fricking much man! I’d been tryna learn that solo for a while, and you’re the only one who explained well and fast enough to keep me from getting discouraged
Thank you Kozeey!
great tutorial! being able to play this solo (even with loads of mistakes) is a dream come true! thanks a lot for this tutorial.
It would be wonderful if u could tell your right hand playing strings too...as a beginner it's difficult to follow up
Thanks for the input!
I just can't fucking learn to play this
Goodness
This is an awful tutorial you are going to quickly and you don't explain what string you are hammering on and off when you say hammer from 7 to 9 no body knows whether it's the g string or d
I can't even bend a whole step on my Washburn mercury... Guess I'll have to improvise by just going up a couple of frets instead...
or get some lighter gauge strings son ;-)
I love you, "slow you show my training thanks myboss i "m in mizoram
Awesome! One of the few lessons that teaches what people are actually interested to play! Great job Sir. We need more tutorials like this!
Cant find the second part
We know it bends, but does it blend?
Hey Guitarreference dude! THANK YOU so much for taking the time and posting this lesson. This is one classic solo that I always wanted to learn and thanks to you, I've finally done it! Nice video! very clear and easy to understand even to beginner players
Yeah - at the end of the intro that was just painful to listen to - he consistently did over-bends, pushing the note sharper than it is supposed to be...but still he teaches it well.
This is how you teach how to play a song. I feel like David gilmour after watching this video a few hundred times.
Thank you Kikat!
Thank you for taking your time and teaching us your knowledge.my cat no longer runs away from me when im playing 🤟😁
Hi do you have the tab for this?
I almost stopped paying attention just looking at that guitar. What a beauty. Thank you for the lesson....I'm sure I'll get it eventually.
Really nice bends, sounds just like the original

Great teaching, very effective, thanks!
Thanks man this really helps:D
at first when u play string i thought u r cheating us but really u r amazing ..
i'll try do it,thanks
I guess this sound better with a shorter neck guitar.
Are you saying this sounds better or worse than the original? Because Les Paul's have a shorter neck than a Telecaster and Walsh used a Tele.
I'm now able to play it !! Thank you very much
thanks a lot, sir!
Thanks man! Nice lesson
thx for this ... your lesson is just perfect, nice sharing.
Bro you explain Lick 10 2 fast

I'm a music teacher & have learned many variations to this solo & that's ok, but many variations to the harmony pieces is NOT ok! I really like your attention to detail in this video. I have a coupla questions. 1st, since there are so many variations to the harmonies, it seems no one is showing the otter piece, have you done this yet?? 2nd, I see you looking over your shoulder, I would imagine your looking at notes to play your variation correctly. Would you say that you have the correct noted to these harmony pieces??? I'm pretty good figuring out harmony licks in the triad but this one stumped me pretty good! Would love your insite Sir! Thank you
I have uploaded it to Facebook you can click the link above to get there. Thanks for watching my videos! S
I owe you man. I finally covered it! Check on my channel, it's the latest uploaded video. I'd appreciate if you guys can give it a listen and leave feedback. Thanks in advance, fellow guitarists and keep bending. The pain will eventually go away haha
