My 08 Silverado is having to undego this surgery and thank you for allowing me to know the procedure for it
Just did this yesterday. Got new motor from Amazon, perfect fit. Hardest part was getting the two bolts for the starter loose without snapping. Used a propane torch to warm them up and break corrosion. Old motor slipped out between frame and exhaust manifold easy. Should always be careful on plastic clip for solenoid (some call it trigger) connection. The clip can get brittle and break easy. Mine was o.k. I had felt motor was failing due to slower cranking and corrosion on wiring. Checked old motor after removal. Got some sparking at terminal when connected, but old motor wouldn’t turn at all. Job done for $120 Canadian.
Straight to the point, clear, and informative. Nice job. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the video just replaced mine in 30 minutes 👍🏼👍🏼
Perfect video. No wasted time.
Thank you! You did an excellent job! Saved me a trip to the mechanic.
Love your videos. Always informative and direct to the point.
Thank you!
1:21, that shot is money. ty
Your video and editing are on POINT! Thank you for this: I've always gone from below on the starter jobs, but it's a gigantic PITD on a 4WD Chevy to do so...your fender method looks much more promising. 🍺
PITD.. I like that! I think I'm gonna use that, if you don't mind!
Good job. Thanks for the info
I appreciate you listing the torque specs. Im planning on replacing the starter on my 08 Silverado tomorrow and was just curious if there was anything I should know before hand. I was just gonna crawl underneath and drop the old starter, but taking the wheel and fender liner out looks like a better way to see everything. Thank you!
You made it look easy, but I know my abilities, particularly with getting those wheel well covers off-I always break those damn plastic screw things.
Thanks!
Yours is about only video I've found that shows the "easy way" by accessing thru the wheel well👍 just wish you could slow down a bit, makes it easier to study what lookin at😂😂
You can slowdown playback speed on you tube down to 1/4 speed
That’s the glory about you tube… you can pause the video and mimic what they do and then play it again
You do not need to remove that inspection cover if you replace the starter through the fender like this trust me I just did mine.
So to be clear no need to remove the positive cable also?
No, just the negative
@@MasterJacks thank you sir
@MasterJacks do the 5.3 ever require starter shims?
I asked because we replaced the starter and the noise is worse so we think we're in the right ballpark. maby now we need shims?
Maybe. You shouldn't need shims for this starter, but shims can definitely affect engagement and noise. Can you describe the noise before and after starter replacement?
Ur editing is bad bruh.
