The children are so mature beyond their years, it’s so sad because they aren’t getting to enjoy their childhood. Breaks my heart. In a country like England, food should never be an issue, nor heating and electricity. With all the money spent on things like Harry’s wedding, imagine how many people could be fed. Shame on England. Every human everywhere should have the ability to earn a living wage and provide for their families. This isn't about people having children that shouldn't and those who comment as such have a very narrow view of the world. Food poverty goes far deeper than just having a child. The US alone wastes 30-40% of the food supply due to a myriad of issues. This is food that could be feeding families and children everywhere. Cost of living, wages, and education play a part in all of it, as well as profit, distribution guidelines, and manufacture/farming expenses. A corporations bottom line is not more important than a human life.

@@solinasora4250 This is not about giving anyone more money. It is about providing families and children with food. If you are given a bag of groceries they're not going to trade that for drugs simply because a drug dealer will not accept it. Even if you just give a family a bag of apples and a jar of peanut butter you are feeding them and giving them nourishment. The child should not be punished because of the parents choices. Most parents will want to feed and care for their kids regardless of their addiction. It's not always true but there is a way to make contact with the family on a non-confrontational/non-punitive basis and help provide necessities for the kids.

Breaks my heart as children shouldn't have any worries. Why in this day and age are innocent people going hungry and criminals in prison get 3 meals a day. I cannot throw food in the bin, if i can't reuse it then it goes to the dog or the birds. All schools should have a breakfast club and a hot lunch for free. Children cannot concentrate if they are hungry.

In answer to the above title ,god yes. It's got to start in the neighbourhood and that's when the world's going to change for the better. No more kids starving if there's anything next door, not as much drug dealings as there's more eyes to prevent it, not so much lonliness because ironically a major crisis like a failing government and heating too expensive is going to bring all the lonely and impoverished people together and hopefully with those in better off positions. I'm always grateful for having money in my purse when I overhear a single parent struggling to cope with kids wanting sweeties, most take it,men generally don't, just frame it properly, oh can I give the kid a wee sweetie? You can tell a position just by looking. Food banks give survival food that have nothing like real sweeties or biscuits in them, it's 7p beans. Every little bit helps. Offer it, those cans for big charities take for all kinds of overheads and when do you see it reach our nation's kids that are underprivileged. It's our responsibility to do what we can if we have it. Heartbreaking, we need to scream for our community centres again. Mental health and poverty go hand in hand, these kids are our future. Rant over. Blessings to all kids, you were all born equal, love to you looking after these little ones too.

Once again where is Dad..Where is someone helping them to budget. Food Bank are supposed to be temporary..
It's should be mandatory that if you use a food bank that you have 1.1 to help go through your budget and someone to make sure your getting everything your entitled to, then suggestions how to stretch your food and meal plan. It's amazing how many people don't know how to do this.

Child poverty is not a new thing it's always been there. The difference is older generations knew how to budget without handouts breakfast clubs free School meals foodbanks. . What these parents need is to stop feeling self entitled because they have kids. Feel for the kids being exposed to their parents bad parenting and lack of self control over their spending. Not all but many this is the reason kids are hungry. Fgs 5 days a week the Schools feeding them 2 out of 3 meals per day so how can they not provide 1 meal.

Some are asking why we are in this horrific cost of living crisis with soaring child poverty in 2022. Below is a brief explanation that by no means covers everything but it begins to unravel things for people who haven't previously been interested in politics. Other people with knowledge should feel free to add their understandings in reply and help to build the picture. 💕
During Tony Blair's Government they set up targets for eradicating child poverty. They made it law for the Government to be accountable for meeting these targets.Child poverty was at an all time low and on target for eradicating child poverty by 2030. Shortly after the Conservative Lib Dem coalition got into power, they scrapped the targets and therefore the law that said Government should be held accountable became void. The Blair Government was not perfect but on matters of poverty it was on the fair money!
In living memory, Child poverty was always measured by income and material deprivation, essentially. However, in 2016 the Tories scrapped these measurements and devolved governments decided if they wanted to do the same. They didn't, by contrast, Scotland kept those original measurements. All experts say the original measurements were the best and fairest ways to measure absolute and relative poverty. Instead, the Conservatives have replaced those measurements with a highly subjective list headed with if the child lives in a 'workless' household. However, research shows that the majority of people living in poverty (around 68%) are IN WORK...working the gig economy and struggling with ridiculous universal credit. YET the Tories still hold that work is the best way out of poverty...They also conveniently ignore the needs and rights of those who cannot work due to disability or other disabling issues.
Also remember Thatcher's legacy of selling off council houses which were never replaced. That and her allegiance with Rupert Murdoch means the political system and the media is rigged towards the right. Thatcher began the destruction of the unions and the right to protest and Truss aims to finish it (remember - Truss is the figurehead - the big corporations and oligarchs are in charge). Is it any wonder we have declining mental health and that ADHD and learning difficulties are more commonly diagnosed now in children and young adults? Or that domestic violence and drug abuse is on the up? We are all slowly being eradicated. (This is part of the plan on a global scale - The Great Reset - look it up on RUclips or Google Scholar).
Until the ordinary people realise this is a class war and that they have strength in their numbers, nothing will change.
The Tories are about to scrap the Human Rights act in the U.K, they are demonising trades unions through the media and they are undermining the right to protest. Never vote Tory and educate yourselves as much as you can. Push for change - find an organisation or charity that work for the eradication of poverty and join them OR start your own protest within your community. Much love 💕

I feel sorry for the childen, they are mostly reaping the consequences of their parents poor choices. The fact that DWP and HMRC are charged telephone numbers is a disgrace, they should all be 0800 numbers.
