- The new Saber winch has been out for a little while now and I’ve been keen to test this one out so it’s going into my Y62 Patrol for review. There is also a new winch thimble which I call the “Dummy” that I reckon is a safer way to recover, having less weight in my system. Stevo steps in and shows us how to splice, and we have a bit of fun getting stuck and forcing a winch recovery 😅
Good tip when splicing dynamic rope is to make a spear out of the tag end to help eliminate a weak point in the rope and it looks much neater
External brake will make a big difference on rope longevity
Should make that hoop with flat square edges or something to fit in with the look of the predator bar, tube looks out of place when you have edges below.
Out of interest, do you need to install an isolator for the winch?

just in regards to the winch rope colour. I may be WAY off base, totally wrong, stupid in the extreme here, but its just a question that popped into my head! Supposedly..... red cars fade the fastest... if that is because of the colour and it's...... i don't know, "attractiveness" to sunlight/UV, will the red winch rope degrade faster in the sun??? maybe its a stupid question..... but there are better minds than mine on here, that might be able to shed some light on this! (did you see what I did there? LOL)
I’d say that’s a fair comment. I reckon you would get at least 10 years out if it though
